the hotel made a lovely cooked breakfast but unfortunately the times for having breakfast were unsuitable,
location of the hotel is very remote and hard to find not even walking distance to a local shop,we had a room on the ground floor at the back of the hotel which was not private at all due to an employee of the hotel working at the back near our window and walking up and down as early as 7.30 in the morning. For being such a small hotel it was really noisy at night due to doors banging and people stumping up and down the stairs not a good place to relax and have peace and quiet and especially with the lack of any privacy
Personeel very friendly, helpful and accommodating. No breakfast menucard but hot breakfast available and cooked to order.
Review expectations not met: no modern facilities: no residents' lounge: very old mattrass and insufficient lighting: poor Wifi connection: limited choice at breakfast
Food, staff and the local people make this hotel special. Enjoyed my stay and if back in the area, will definately use this hotel again.
WiFi was poor at times, bathroom was functional, shower was a little disappointing
A very well run pleasant hotel if the phone connection and wifi were better I would not hesitate to return
Phone service and wifi were non existent
Good hotel in lovely part of the country, good facilities, excellent food, good selection of beer, nothing too much of an effort and staff were really helpful.
Nothing to complain about.
cold bathroom no chair in bedroom bedroom dark.
Last minute plans led to a unexpected pleasant stay. The manager was very helpful & was very welcolming. Staff couldnt do enough. We asked for some extra tea & milk & it was no trouble. The restaurant served delicious food & the breakfast the following morning was a treat. Our room had a lovely view, quiet & relaxing. Will definatly stay again :)
The rooms need abit of tlc but we enjoyed our stay regardless.
easy to find extremely welcoming great evening meals
Hospitality, food, cleanliness Loved the location
Mould in shower Loose window handles
not far to darlington where we have family and very peacefull, excellent breakfast
shower was okay but not very powerfull
Food was excellent
Bedroom too hot.
I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Devonport Hotel with 3 friends and found everything to be excellent especially the food served on the premises which we all felt was great value for money. We were that impressed we have already booked to return in 2015 a big thank you to all the staff for a great stay.
We felt the wifi could have been a little better as we could only receive it in certain rooms.
Room with a view/bay window overlooking village greenspace, very friendly staff, good food and beers!
Staff we very attentive and helpful.
The whole stay only one night but the staff food, drink outstandingly pleasant
Staff and food were great.
Wiif was spotty; inaccessible in our room.
Very spacious room and bathroom. Excellent breakfast! Hotel in a peaceful village overlooking the River Tees.
The welcome and relaxed feel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the proprietor was friendly and helpful.
The only niggle was the lack of proper bedside lights in our room. But it did not spoil our stay.
Restaurant and all staff
Great food Great staff Great price
Large, comfortable room.
Plumbing was a bit noisy.
Everything. Nice country scenery
Excellent food welcoming bar area, with pleasant atmosphere. Parking outside the hotel, larger rooms.
The bathroom was in need of a refurb, shower worked well, but the whole room needs a facelift. No Soap ? whats that all about, surely just an oversite. Ground floor room that looked directly on to the street & car parking area, so no privacy what so ever.
Staff Lovely food Excellent value for money Breakfast was lovely
