Poor service for breakfast due to lack of staff
Too few disabled parking spaces
Wonderful to return for our 25 th Wedding Anniversary . Married in Bolton Abbey Aug1989 . Reception at The Devonshire Arms. Everything was perfect.
The character of the place. The surroundings. The room. The friendliness and service of the staff. The food.
Having to leave and go home.
My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful romantic stay here for birthday treat and enjoyed every second of it! Amazing destination, beautiful scenery, delicious food and drink.....to top it off the staff couldn't do enough for us. All in all, a perfect romantic getaway.
Warmly informal but high quality atmosphere. Superb food in Burlington restaurant with very reasonably priced wine list.
Slightly untidy setting of afternoon tea with dirty tables and previous tables not cleared.
Location was beautiful
Very inflexible booking with no consideration for our requirements - the hotel only seemed interested in how much money they could take. We were even faced with a gratuity surcharge on the room! The dining experience was OK but out of a group of 10 one meal was returned so the guest ended up eating alone - and yet still the surcharge was added automatically!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location
Room very hot. A fan would have been nice
Our dinner in the Burlington Restaurant was superb. Our double bed was so comfortable. The staff were brilliant, so friendly.
Trying the tasting menu in the Burlington Restaurany. The wine list. The view of the oak tree from the side window of my room. The opportunity to park and walk from three points along the valley.
Brasserie was awful - as noisy as a works canteen. The cramped gym on noisy floor. The fact the steam room was out of action when I was there, though they said it would be fixed next day.
The views from the hotel window and the restaurant.
Having to contact reception for fresh milk every time I wanted a drink in our room.
Friendly welcome, understated classiness, afternoon tea, swimming pool, breakfast, walks on the Estate, lunch in the lounge
Didn't dislike the Brasserie, but thought the food was grossly overpriced for what it was. Can have the same or better elsewhere for a fraction of the price.
everything-have stayed here so many times-we love it
The hotel was welcoming and it felt good staying there. The Brasserie food was excellent.
Nothing of notye.
FOOD, DRINK & FRIENDLY STAFF
SIZE OF BATHROOM & NO FROSTED GLASS ON BATHROOM WINDOW
Friendliness of staff, always helpful. Hotel is in beautiful surroundings with lots of walking direct from the hotel -so the car can stay in the car park.
Having to phone for fresh milk when we wanted a cup of tea in the room
The building and surrounding grounds where spectacular. The reception staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The evening meal in the Brasserie was delicious and Breakfast was fabulous with lots of choice.
The bed was awful. I got an hours sleep all night. Pillows are thin and mattress was too soft. I woke up with a bad back and feeling stiff. I'm only 33 and felt like an old person! The ambiance when we arrived was nice and relaxed and staff seemed happy. By the evening however new staff had arrived and they appeared on edge. The atmosphere was pretentious and they where trying to be something they were not. We chose to eat in the Brasserie for our evening meal. As we have done the 'Fine Dining' many times and just wanted a no fuss meal. When asked by staff where we would be eating a look of distaste came across the young mans face. I really do hate a snob. The Sauna,Steam room and plunge pool were all out of order which is half the facilities disappointing.
The location is stunning. Great for walkers.
Should be cheaper with an inclusive evening meal in the tariff. In the region of £250/£300 for the smaller rooms. Will stay again but will look for the deals.
The hotel was lovely. From the moment you walked through the door the team made you feel welcome and relaxed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Location and hotel staff knowledge of the area
Service charges on bills
The welcome was everything you expect from an English hotel, we were shown around the hotel and checked in in our room. The food, the staff and the location all perfect. My wife said it was she had the best Eggs Benedict ever. We will definitely return.
We liked the atmosphere and the friendly staff.Everything was so clean and attractive. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and our room was excellent. We loved the spa.
Excellent location, very accommodating staff, good service. The older section of the hotel had character.
The vegetarian food was rather disappointing and vastly overpriced, also the décor of the brasserie was awful, more like a tearoom. The bedroom toilet had not been cleaned properly. The toilet had not been cleaned throughly
Excellent luxury hotel with first class restaurant - you really do get what you paid for! Unusually long and excellent list of wines by the glass in the Burlington Dining Room. Situated in a beautiful area come rain or shine.
