A well situated hotel for touring the Dales. Comfortable and warm.
Staff generally poor - not overly helpful and the bathroom was un cared for. Dirty grout in a shower is not acceptable in a hotel of this standard. Food generally not outstanding and breakfast poor.
Superb hotel that makes you feel a bit special.
There is no part of the hotel where our dog could be present whilst we had food other than room service.
The whole ambience was excellent.
The service was impeccable: Rosie on check-in, the gents at breakfast and dinner, and Nigel, the sommelier in the Burlington restaurant: all down to earth and knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble. The location is super, the room lovely and the quality of food exceptional. The tasting menu in the Burlington is food at its best.
I can criticise nothing.
All of it
Staff were very helpful advising on sight seeing and walks. Breakfasts were lovely.
Having to leave
Location, country house ambience, excellent food
Bedroom and bathroom poor -- bathroom too small, bedroom furnishings shabby, lighting dim.
Everything. I have stayed in quite a few country houses in England and this was among the very best. Both stylish and cosy. We were welcomed by Ryan who showed us around the whole place and told us what we needed to know. Fabulous man to have in such a place.
The staff were excellent, as was the location. The breakfast was first class.
The bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. The bedroom was stuffy. Main disappointment was dinner in the Brasserie. My wife's beef cheek was under cooked and tough. In fairness, this was dealt with in that we were not charged for it. My beef fillet at £30.00 was overpriced, given the size of the portion and the ordinariness of the accompaniments. Service was also very, very slow. No fault of the waitresses, who were courteous and pleasant.
Decor Quality of bedrooms/bathrooms Ambience Staff
Price The meal we had was not great - over cooked beef Wellington.
- The ambience and atmosphere/relaxation - The food and service in the Brasserie restaurant - the front-of-house and bar service
The prices and difficult to understand staff in the Burlington restaurant (and I am not one who is against the Michelin experience generally)
Brasserie and good service
Poor service for breakfast due to lack of staff
Too few disabled parking spaces
Wonderful to return for our 25 th Wedding Anniversary . Married in Bolton Abbey Aug1989 . Reception at The Devonshire Arms. Everything was perfect.
The character of the place. The surroundings. The room. The friendliness and service of the staff. The food.
Having to leave and go home.
My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful romantic stay here for birthday treat and enjoyed every second of it! Amazing destination, beautiful scenery, delicious food and drink.....to top it off the staff couldn't do enough for us. All in all, a perfect romantic getaway.
Warmly informal but high quality atmosphere. Superb food in Burlington restaurant with very reasonably priced wine list.
Slightly untidy setting of afternoon tea with dirty tables and previous tables not cleared.
Location was beautiful
Very inflexible booking with no consideration for our requirements - the hotel only seemed interested in how much money they could take. We were even faced with a gratuity surcharge on the room! The dining experience was OK but out of a group of 10 one meal was returned so the guest ended up eating alone - and yet still the surcharge was added automatically!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location
Room very hot. A fan would have been nice
Our dinner in the Burlington Restaurant was superb. Our double bed was so comfortable. The staff were brilliant, so friendly.
Trying the tasting menu in the Burlington Restaurany. The wine list. The view of the oak tree from the side window of my room. The opportunity to park and walk from three points along the valley.
Brasserie was awful - as noisy as a works canteen. The cramped gym on noisy floor. The fact the steam room was out of action when I was there, though they said it would be fixed next day.
The views from the hotel window and the restaurant.
Having to contact reception for fresh milk every time I wanted a drink in our room.
Friendly welcome, understated classiness, afternoon tea, swimming pool, breakfast, walks on the Estate, lunch in the lounge
Didn't dislike the Brasserie, but thought the food was grossly overpriced for what it was. Can have the same or better elsewhere for a fraction of the price.
everything-have stayed here so many times-we love it
