Open minded really . Heard a lot about it .

Ate in the bistro . The roast pheasant was awful . Tough and tasteless . Staff apologetic and gave us 2 glasses of champagne . Very suprised at breakfast to look through the window behind reception and see it without paint and rotten . Been poorly repaired a while back and in a very poor state for a place with this reputation . Staff good and place needs a serious revamp now in some areas .

The Location is very good and beautiful view

Overpriced, glass champagne £15.00, brassiere decor poor and lacks atmosphere, needs to be changed back into the lovely country pub it was. Room service breakfast poor and overcooked. Spa very disappointing, staff at spa not welcoming. Add service charge to everything. I have been to The Devonshire Arms several times in last 20 years, I will not return standards are dropping and overpriced for what it has to offer.

Enjoyed the ambience and it's oldy world feel, the location is lovely as well.

I actually thought some of the dining options weren't fantastic there was a limited choice in the Brasserie if you didn't like fowl based dishes. Secondly, the prices in the cocktail longe were ridiculous and put me off straight away. Even if I were a millionaire I would not pay £15 for a cocktail!!!

Staff welcoming and helpful from outset. Ambiance delightful and food excellent. Wonderful countryside setting.

A lovely welcome as soon as we walked through the door. A homely open fire. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had had for a long time

Slightly annoying noise from kitchen extract fan at night which due to location effects quite a few bedrooms

From the moment we arrived until the time we reluctantly left we were nothing short of overwhelmed by the quality of the hotel in absolutely every aspect. The service, the room, the food the facilities, the location, the value, it was a memorable experience and we will be going back at the earliest opportunity.

We were there for a family birthday party.We were 30 for dinner and 70 for lunch and we had breakfast as a couple.The food was excellent on all occasions. The staff were friendly but efficient and attentive. The room provided all we required and was warm and comfortable

This is a classy hotel with first class "silver service" - right from the time you arrive at the door (helped with cases from my boot to the room) until the moment you leave. The room was 5-star, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well-equipped. The staff were very polite and gave an excellent service all-round (all staff were very smartly dressed which gives an air of class and finesse). There are two restarants - we ate in the less formal Brasserie - the meal and service was excellent and the menu offered a very good variety. The Brasserie bar is well equipped with a variety of beers and spirits.

The final bill had two "optional service charges" on the bill - these were for the previous evening's meal and a few drinks at the bar. Bearing in mind that this hotel is already expensive (believe me, drinks and food are not cheap!); I felt it was extremely cheeky to add on these charges. I could have refused to pay as they are "optional", however, when you are checking out (if you're like me), the last think you want to do is make a fuss over something like a service charge. My bedroom was close to a road and, as windows are not double-glazed, it does get a little noisy sometimes (although traffic is not heavy in the area).
