The position of the Hotel in the town could not have been improved. Very friendly staff, everything you could wish for in the rooms, brilliant spa bath and shower. The food was fantastic - we didn't want to eat anywhere else. Would recommend it most highly, and will stay there again hopefully.

Beautiful picturesque building right in the heart of bourton. Great breakfast, brilliant location. Overpriced for the room we had in the adjacent coach house.expected more luxury for a room that's priced at £225 per night! Damp and mould around windows, paper peeling!

Beautiful old house situated in the centre of Bourton on the Water. The bedroom, in the Coach House Annexe, was lovely, including a very comfortable bed. We had a 'Red Letter Day, which entailed an afternoon tea. We were served delicious sandwiches, cakes, pot of tea and sparkling wine. The evening meal was very good and reasonably priced. Everything was excellantly presented. All staff were polite and friendly giving a comfortable atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The food was amazing and the location was perfect Overpriced. Since its a very touristy place Im not surprised. In the middle of the bath, we did not have hot water which was frustrating and were told by the staff to simply wait 15 minutes as the water tank was empty. I ended up using the kettle to fill up the bathtub.

Beautiful location. Huge bed in quite a small room. We had to leave before 8.30 so could not have breakfast. There was no-one around at all when we left at 7.30. We stayed in the annexe and dropped the key through the locked front door of the main hotel. Felt a bit peculiar.

The building is beautiful, well preserved and tastefully decorated. The location, in the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water, is truely lovely. The bed was a good size, comfortable and the room warm and clean. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. A very expensive hotel for what you get. I booked a superior room and felt the bathroom was inadequate: tiny and beginning to look grotty. The bedroom was fine, though quite small and beginning to look tired.

The room was clean. Arrogant staff, appalling service, "big plate, small food" approach. Frankly this hotel is trading off it's past and I've never been treated with such disdain and indifference. They truly believe that as they're the established hotel in town they can do no wrong and there are enough gullible tourists to keep them afloat. Unfortunately they may be right.

The hotel and staff concentrated more on the restaurant than on the paying quests. We booked late and chose the Dial House Hotel to relax by a fire , enjoy some food and wine. We were so disappointed to find the restaurant fully booked and there was no other food served. The staffs attitude was you had to go out and use the other hotels around. Obviously our room was one of the hotels more reasonable and needed upgrading. I don't sleep well so listen to my radio with earphones. There was no radio and i couldn't use my I pad as there was only wi.fi in reception. The hotel lacked management. This was more a restaurant with rooms than a hotel catering for paying quests. Very bad value if paying the full price.

It was a lovely location with comfortable rooms. The nouvelle cuisine although nicely presented was very sparse on the plate. Would suggest more home cooking with more food on the plate both for evening and breakfast. We are not big eaters and we left the table feeling very hungry. The bedroom was comfortable and clean, however we would suggest more surfaces were in place.

The location and food were excellent as was the overall look of the hotel. Our room (Room 1) was above the dinning room which we could hear being set up early Saturday morning, around 6.30am. There was also a lot of outside noise very early in the morning, which we think were deliveries to the hotel. Due to the heating in the room being very warm we did have to have the windows open, so it really was a catch 22 situation. The main hallway light was also left on all night and the light was coming into our room. Did try the switches on the wall outside our room but to no success... The double bed is also very small so all in all quite an uncomfortable nights stay....

“A lovely, comfortable, individual hotel in a beautiful, peaceful Cotswold village. The perfect place to explore the Cotswolds from after a very good English breakfast. The rooms were very clean and the beds as good as promised. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.” John, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot |
