Nice style of property. Food choice and quality Good range at bar Helpful welcoming staff. Vibrant atmosphere.
Background music was a bit too intrusive at times and/or at certain places within the layout. Maybe as bar/dining area occupancy reduced the music stayed at previous level? Some noise at late/early hrs when "sleeping" it seemed furniture was being moved around downstairs - wood furniture on wood or stone flooring, echoed into sleeping area.
Staff, ambience in bar and dining areas, food quality. Very welcoming and very popular with locals which is a good sign.
Bedrooms not quite up to the standard of the public areas. Bit cold due to single glazing.
Room very tired No hot water in bathroom, only luke warm and all I wanted was a hot bath after a long day! No wifi at all
Efficient friendly staff. Immaculate Comfortable Room Excellent dinner and breakfast. Cosy feel to restaurant. Plenty of parking. Good Wi Fi
The staff was very friendly and welcoming, enjoyed the breakfast very much
The room was a bit small
The staff were fantastic. The food was good, the atmosphere at dinner was great.
The first room we were given was tiny. They immediately agreed to moving us to a different room. Here the Internet didn't work at all (I specifically needed it); they moved us to the four poster room. So, I can't fault the staff. However, I don't think they should have to deal with issues relating from poor descriptions written by management. Why say wifi everywhere? Why not advertise room 8 as a "small double"? The bathroom had no heating whatsoever, which wasn't pleasant in December. There wasn't even a shower tidy/soap dish in the shower cubicle - it felt very basic. In that area, I really expected more for my money. There was a party that night and the noise around midnight was unbelievable. In these circumstances, I do think the hotel management need to either consider the comfort of all guests, or not accept bookings for guests not attending the function. So, despite superb staff and great food, a very disappointing stay indeed.
Staff very helpful and friendly
Room very cold on arrival and took a long time to warm up. Standard of decoration shabby and in need of a good make-over.
The cleaner needs to check the plug hole in the sink as there was lots of hair in the hole that restricted the water flow. It would also look good if the ketchup pots were wiped before the customers get them as there was ketchup on side if dish. Apart from that everything else was fanatic.
Help received from staff I have a disability ambiance excellent food good value
Because I walk with arm crutches getting to our room was a little difficult however the staff helped as best they could i suppose because of the age of the building nothing more can be done to combat the stairs
Huge bed and towels. Very warm welcome from the staff, who also found us something to eat after the chef had left for the night
location and that it is in the counrty . not in town
lovely building with beautiful views excellent staff food & service excellent
mattress & pillows too firm for our taste noise from kitchen extractor fan excessive in our room
The bed was too soft
Breakfast was not up to usual standard it was overbooked and poorly presented
Food, staff, shower.
Some Road noise.
Almost everything; the staff are brilliant
Mattress was not the most comfortable. Noticeable traffic noise.
The staff at the D + D always make a stay a real pleasure; nothing is too much trouble and the cuisine just gets better and better. One of my all time favourite hostelries.
Staff Food Value for money
I didn't get my paper I ordered!
Staff were very welcoming and answered any questions promptly and helpfully, The building was in excellent condition, warm and welcoming
Lovely rooms with everything you could need for a short break. Food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast superb! Great staff and service.
A bit noisy at night with road noise. Secondary glazing would make this hotel perfect!
Situated among fields but within a few miles of Stafford, this is a very pleasing pub. Nice courtyard with plenty of parking. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped - iron and hairdryer. Dinner menu was extensive and very good. Equally, breakfast was a joy - the smoked salmon and scrambled egg was excellent - and Holly ensured our coffee cups were kept full. .
Wifi was weak.
