The Douglas Hotel  

I liked the location and the staff were very helpful and although we did not require any additional assistance we knew it was available. Also that the Internet log in was given, this was a good touch.

Running water was happening in the walls during the night and when the front door closed it was felt in our room.

Conveniently situated right off ferry. The view from our spacious luxurious room and bathroom was wonderful. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Would love to stay again.

Very modern and relaxing. Staff helpful especially young man who served us breakfast on Saturday morning. He was extremely professional and helpful anticipating before having to be asked. A sign of good training.

Room was very dark with lovely decor but the lighting was a bit too dim for a dark winter's day.

The staff were friendly and courteous without being false. Service was excellent in all areas and when they didn't have our booking for second night it wasn't a problem and dealt with without any hassle to us. The food was superb and cocktails brilliant. They even put on the rugby for us when we asked. Can't preaise it high enough and looking to a return trip next year.

The Douglas Hotel is sheer luxury. It is a modern hotel and the attention to detail is second to none. We had a fabulous time there and will definetely return. The girl on reception was extremely friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at the Douglas Hotel. Although it was only for one night we felt the atmosphere was very friendly & welcoming The accommodation was 1st class & we enjoyed a lovely dinner & breakfast. We would have no hesitation on recommending it to our friends & family.

The staff were very caring and helpful. The room was extremely comfortable. The food was excellent - we had heard this before we went! As pensioners we felt that the winter deal was excellent value for money. The location suited us perfectly.

At times the lounge in which we sat was cold, however the staff did everything they could to alleviate this problem. Also, on one night during our stay service in the restaurant was slower but this was due to staff being involved in a charity do elsewhere, The delay did not duly bother us as we were not going elsewhere after our meal. Also, the meal itself was again of a very high standard. staff also apologised to us for the slower service.

The Hotel was extremely luxurious with fabulous views to awaken to in the morning. We experienced a very warm welcome from the reception staff and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. We enjoyed a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings with local knowledge of the waiter in ordering some after dinner drinks. Very spacious room and huge bathroom with huge fluffy dressing gowns and slippers awaiting us on the bed. To top it all we were offered a late check-out in case we wanted to stay on a bit longer and get a later ferry. Would thoroughly recommend without hesitation!

That they contacted our room to advise we were about to miss breakfast. Staff got us a taxi as requested.

Said in brochure we would have use if dressing gowns however none in room. I like wearing dressing gown and would have brought my own if known.

Last in the Douglas in 1958 at a cousin's wedding. Since then has had a chequered career. Bang up to date again in quality,comfort and good food and service.

The decor and space were outstanding. One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. Our room 203 was perfect and overlooked Goatfell and the sea. Loved it. Staff were excellent and helpful.

Excellent stay. Staff were wonderful - we were upgraded to a beautiful suite overlooking the harbour so that we could have more room as we were travelling with our 10 month old son. Travel cot was provided as requested. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would definitely return.

Can't find anything to fault at all.

All staff went out of their way to be helpful. For example when they had not received a confirmation email from booking.com they nevertheless dealt with it in a supportive manner. Room was very comfortable and quiet, with modern decor. Bistro served excellent food.

Lovely welcome, everyone so friendly. Beautiful room, comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. Food delicious . Will definetly be back .

Loved the sleek, modern design. Food was excellent as was service. Staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable but completely professional and helpful. They even kept breakfast open late for our Canadian relatives who were suffering jetlag.

Size of bedroom and helpfulnessof and friendliness of Staff. Choice, Quality and prices of food as good.

1. Shower in bath and sides of bath too high. 2. No "grab" handle for safety when enteringand leaving bath. Could be dangerous. 3 Bath is poor design as drain is in middle and safety mat covers drain.

It was great just to get off the ferry and the hotel was right there. Loved the decor and the shortbread in the room was simply the best I have ever tasted!

On the print out we had booked a double room with a scenic view and we were looking forward to this. Unfortunately, the "scenic" view we had was of the bins at the back of the hotel. When we arrived for breakfast we were given a menu but after waiting for absolutely ages I had to go and find a member of staff to take our order. In the end when the food eventually came it was very nice.

The room was large with a spacious bath. The view from the room was minimal, but was pleased to see how they continued to maintain the quality of the hotel even though it was very old. The decor was quite modern, and they had a elevator which was a welcome with the baggage. The dining room was great, with beautiful pictures of island in the early years. This was probably more room than we needed, but enjoyed it all the same. WiFi in the room was good.

We were totally impressed from the moment we arrived. Every single member of staff was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. The hotel has been decorated beautifully. Our room was fantastic. We were sorry to leave at the of our stay and will definitely go back.
