Lovely room well decorated Spacious Very good size TV Bathroom was amazing with walk in shower Good facilities such as hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities Good choice of food for breakfast Friendly atmosphere in the bar in the evening
One of the best hotels I have stayed in, mainly due to the fantastic staff, faultless every single one. Rooms are excellently appointed with great facilities. The bar and restaurants are fabulous, the range of ales is extensive and the food of a very high standard. Housekeeping are astonishingly good, offering a friendly & personalised service daily. Location close to town, bars, restaurants, supermarkets & cinemas.
Well presented rooms and pleasant staff in a central location.
Lots of traffic noise through the night, and some rather loud bangs inside the hotel woke me up several times.
Everything! The staff are excellent, all of them. The rooms are well appointed, the 'historically sympathetic' lift is adorable even though it has a mind if it's own! Food excellent.
Only small thing was the lack of ant shelving or surface to put anything in the bathroom, the bathroom itself was huge & great but we ended up using the open linen basket (where clean towels are stored) to place our wash bags & cosmetics etc. but such a small issue, not a problem.
The overall experience was amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel
All good & excellent value for the price. Noticed that a lot of good reviews about the breakfast but my only issue was that the bacon must have been cooked earlier & kept warm for sometime as it was a bit tough, didn't complain though as I thought it was a bit trivial. My wife & I would most definitely stay there again.
Choice of food Close to railway station Store across the street
A little noicy during the night
We were made to feel very welcome. The room was fabulous, classed as an executive room, and didn't disappoint. The bed was very spacious and comfortable. We had a drink in the bar. There was an offer on called Friday fizz, which went down very well. We had a meal in the Bistro at night which was lovely. I had the fish cake and Sea bass, my husband had black pudding and steak. It was delicious. Service Excellent . Thank you.
Next to the train station. Good location
Fantastic staff, good food and a fabulous bathroom!
A bit noisy- my room was at the back so didn't have road noise but had a noisy service duct and also had noise from the corridor
Large Comfortable rooms Reasonable Prices Clean Nice Open Fires
No hot water...! Breakfast poorly presented and staff too busy to cope with full busy restaurant.
The bed was amazing, very comfy. Hotel was quiet, calm and run by professional staff. Excellent place to stay
Breakfast took a while to arrive but worth the wait.
Room was cold & no hot water!!
The room was large, clean and bed big and comfortable. Staff very friendly. The breakfast was excellent.
The hotel room was excellent! Bed was comfortable, room was very quiet despite being beside a busy road.
The room had a bath but the hot water wasn't hot enough to actually have a bath. The food in the hotel isn't great, especially for the price
Great location as we were travelling by train and it is a 2 min walk from the station.
We liked the room very much we stayed in room 107. The breakfast was very nice indeed.
The coffee with breakfast was not hot.
Staff friendly, room comfortable.
No handle bars to assist in getting out of bath, which was very slippery, very dangerous for elderly.
I liked the staff all the hotel was very nice confy and clean. .I will recomend. .
Very nice evening meal
Staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, well Equipped, very clean, bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was excellent, having open shower. Food was superb, you get big portions we couldn't eat it all. Would recommend staying here.
A very warm welcome ,the room was inviting and very comfortable.we booked into the restaurant the meal was excellent and the service very good.I would definitely book again at the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel.
We asked for ground floor room as my partner was on sticks after knee operation. The room was great with a wet room which proved much easier for showering.as so many rooms have baths you have to step into.
Apart from the bed We have no complaints.
room was lovely and comfortable and the atmosphere in the bar was great. Would definitely book again.
arrived for breakfast with 40 mins to spare, no coffee cups, no glasses and no juice. Breakfast was reheated and dried out.
