Everything you need for a mini break, nice bar & restaurant so you don't need to leave the hotel for an evening of good food & drinks. The breakfast included with the room price was excellent with an option of the buffet aswell as a cooked selection setting you up for the day!
As is standard in most hotels there is no smoking throughout so you have to go outside to smoke
Room is very big and confortable. Bath room is very good as well
Slight far from Lake district
We enjoyed our stay at the Duke of Edinburgh hotel & Bar, our room was very comfortable, all hotel staff were very friendly and the food was lush:0)
Nothing at all we enjoyed our hotel stay very much:0)
room layout was poor, mirror not near power points i.e. for hairdryer use!, in bathroom again mirror away from sink i.e. shaving, also hand soap in shower section away from sink!!,not enough storage space, worst of all room made up for single occupancy on two nights when paid for double!!!
Very close to the Lake District, the hotel has a pub downstairs that serves very good food and the staff are very helpful and polite. Would definitely stay again!
No fridge in the room.
Lovely room with large bathroom.
Location not great. Breakfast was ok but not consistent service.
Nice building, helpful staff, great breakfast, free parking, clean elegant and nicely located.
Slight noise came into the room from outside but can ignore.
Room size Clean Lovely food Friendly staff
Not very organised at breakfast
Big room, with a massive bed All the things you would expect in any room, tea making facilites, iron & board, hair dryer, even a TV with DVD player. Good size bathroom, nicely decorated. Very clean rooms. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. Helpful staff at all times.
Nice bathroom let down by cheap plastic toilet seat. Could the phone be next to the bed, for those wake-up calls ?
Good location for local attractions like the zoo, aquarium, motor museum etc. room was a little on the chilly side and we couldn't get the heating to work but the burgers and cocktails were amazing, the free parking is perfect! Would definately return.
Parking arrangements are not very good. Have to use local public parking across the road.
The rooms were nice and the hotel was centrally located, close to shopping and the train station.
Parking was off the premises and you had to cross two busy roads to get to your car to deposit the parking slip.
The kindness and efficiency of the Staff who provided us with a hot meal within 15 minutes after we were badly delayed due to traffic. Also like the deco of the rooms, especially the one in the eaves with the window that allows you to look up at the stars.
comfortable quiet rooms. The restaurant which becomes a music venue in the evening was a surprise. Close to town centre
Looked onto the back of other properties
After visiting the zoo we needed somewhere that had good recommendations , we are really pleased we chosen here food staff the rooms were all brilliant definitely come back here
Atmosphere. Decor. Staff. Food. Bar. Bed. Room. All cool
Good comfy bed
Only minor niggle, some traffic noise with the window is open.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared and tasty. reasonably priced for the standard of the food. I had wonderful peaceful evening in a great big bath with lots of bubbles heaven. Its literally across the road from the train station. The hotel was very central and easy to get to other places by car, bus or walking, I parked my car on the first day and never used it the whole time I was there. The staff quickly sorted out any problems e.g light bulb, I liked the fact that there is two bars one that has music. I actually found this the quiet more peaceful one. the other bar was well frequented by holiday makers and locals which I feel is a good sign.
the room and corridors are a bit dark I felt the room could do with better lighting. I felt it could have been a bit cleaner in places. The staff were overworked having to be in more than one place at one given time, leaving the reception unmanned sometimes when they had to do other jobs.
Nice staff. Comfy room.
Bathroom not too clean. Poor breakfast buffet. There isn't much to do in Barrow.
Very good breakfast Short walk to shops Close to train station
Absolutely beautiful decor. We had a lovely bathroom and a decent sized room. The facilities in terms of TV, car parking facilities, area were all great.
Lack of air con in room made it very hot even with a fan on all night.
booked a superior twin room for friend and I which was more than an average size room plus bathroom. Very clean and modern bathroom with a double shower unit and was ultra clean. Very nice furniture and décor. plenty of choice of food for evening meal a lovely breakfast buffet and cooked breakfast which was included in price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel near railway station and a short distance to town. Very respectable location. I was staying here for my sisters funeral which the hotel itself made me feel uplifted. Thankyou . I will return here again when I stay in Barrow.
No fridge, no towel rails, bed too soft
