Location very good. Food well presented and always high quality. Friendly . Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I liked the size of the bed and comfort, large tv,excellent shower and breakfast superb
Money saving bulbs, useless, even when they are supposed to be at their brightest, useless!
Great room/bathroom/bed/TV. Do not disturb sign worked perfectly Excellent breakfast choice, quality and quantity. Noise from music stopped by midnight. (Early sleepers should request rooms on upper floors)
Unable and unwilling to ask the kitchen to prepare a simple sandwich for which all the ingredients were available, a full meal or nothing was offered. Result was a 5 minute trip out to buy a snack where I also bought some wine instead of at the bar. Our planned family Sunday lunch for 6 venue was also changed from here. Their loss
Good value for money
No vegetarian options in breakfast
Super size bathroom with a spacious deep bath, wardrobe had no doors so access was much easier.
Car park whilst opposite meant crossing 2 very busy roads, one of crossings pedestrian lights were not working, this meant a dice with danger especially when carrying luggage.
The location was key. Was totally spot on. Had nothing to fault. the breakfast was beautiful full value for money. The execitive suite was stunning, welcoming and comfortable.
Nothing i didnt like. Everything was top stars.
Friendliness of the staff Quality of the room Excellent food Value for money Very spacious room Excellent amenities in room.
Mattresses are poor Water pressure when running a bath - will take a very long time to fill a bath.
food was very nice and staff very friendly, parking was easy as its just over the road from the hotel
bed wasnt very comfortable
Clean modern room and a comfy bed what more do you need after a long day
The hotel is close to the station and for those driving they have arranged for parking space close to the hotel. The nice warm, cheery fire went some way to overcoming the icy draft as the door from the bar to the main street opened. The reception staff were very helpful.
Don't eat at this hotel, the tomato soup was exactly like very thick, salty, tomato puree and the vegetable Korma had never been near coconut, cream or curry, the sauce was watery and tasteless. Breakfast was no better: The chef seems to think that scrambled egg is fried like an omelette then stirred to make it look scrambled. I have never had scrambled eggs that have been so greasy that I felt sick for the rest of the day, so this was a new experience for me. I did complain about the evening meal, but all the staff could say was they could only take the word of the chef that the recipe used was for a Korma sauce. It was so cold in my room that I was glad that I had a ski jumper and leggings to wear for bed. There was no hot water by 9.30pm so the nice relaxing bath didn't happen. It was definitely an experience.
Shower not powerful enough
We had an executive double. It was in the rafters but was more a suite than double room. Excellent value for money & would defo stop here again
Excellent stay. Warm and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
beautiful decor & fab bathroom. very quiet room on top floor. lovely breakfast
havent anything to put here apart from the fact we didnt get toast with our breakfast after asking twice, but everything else was great, weve stayed before & will do again.
The pub down stairs had good food and great real ales. Good location
Room and breakfast, free parking
The bedroom was decorated to a high standard, shower room very modern and bed high quality.
Although breakfast was excellent , the dining area was disorganised at peak times, so that previous meals weren't cleared. Still overall excellent experience though.
This hotel was lovely, clean and well maintained, the room was small, but only a standard double, the bathroom wad very clean, with a great shower and big bath, the staff are very friendly and the breakfast was fab, great choice and included in the price, carpark just across the road and the town round the corner, would definitely stay again.
Couldn't fault this hotel.
Breakfast was excellent lovely big shower
We stayed in an executive double and it was more like a suite. Excellent location;food stunning...what more do you need?
Nothing. It was excellent
Breakfast was very good and staff looking after restaurant area.
Must dust out of reach places and move objects in rooms to dust.
We both enjoyed all the facilities and the food at this hotel and it great value for money. All of the staff were friendly, polite and approachable to answer any questions.
The mattress on one side, at it's edge, had given up the ghost and needs replacing. But the remainder of the large mattress was in good order and was extremely comfortable.
Hotel was amazing, staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. The coal fire in the bar was a real treat, so cosy and heartwarming, also the breakfast was fantastic along with the food in the restaurant, amazing value and service by the staff.q
Having to leave.
Couldn't fault our stay here, would definitely stay again :)
To celebrate our dad's birthday party, the family gathered in secret in Barrow in Furness which meant we had to find an hotel as we couldn't stay at dad's house. The Duke was the most convenient for our purpose and it proved to be one of the best we had stayed in. From the moment we walked into the foyer we were treated promptly and courteously and when we found our room to be on the front of the building and was subject to traffic noise for most of the night we were shown another room without any fuss or problem...a great service. The rooms were spotless, well appointed and fresh, the toilet fascilities were impressive with a massive walk in shower and a toilet that was as big as our living room. Breakfast, included in our room price was delicious and served promptly and courtiously as well. Can't fault this hotel at all and will be back, the next time we visit Barrow..
Can't think of anything we can find fault with...
