Friendly staff and a good breakfast.
No Wifi in room, and no telephone for an early morning call. The room (4) was above the main road, and there was intermittent traffic noise.
Good food at a good price and very helpful staff
nice room , plenty of space , nice bar area , food was cheap but good , little town is great .
traffic noise from 5.30 am was constant , and no double glazing .
Very good welcome. Nice room food very good and plenty of choice. Pleasant atmosphere in bar at night
The room we had was Great and value for money
Helpful staff and a general pleasant stay. Good food and a lovely hotel with a good feel to it.
I missed towel rails and a door to the bedroom to shut the nightlight out.
Located near Sherwood Forest.
There is some evil loud suction plumbing contraption in the bathroom. As soon as a drop of water enters the sink, shower or toilet the contraption starts up and keeps going for minutes after. At random intervals in the night the contraption would start up, just because it felt like it. If not the one in our room, it was the one in the room next door. I now have a twitch from being startled awake sooo many times during the night. Hate, hate, hate that contraption. Evil springy uncomfortable bed. Loud music from the pub down stairs till late. The shower recess was so moldy, and the roof of the recess so low, it was brushing against my head while i showered.
Lynn - just a reg staff person appeared to be doing all jobs alone. Breakfast was great
Green night lights overbright & kept us awake, cobwebs everywhere, back entrance for workers & guests to use was Addams Family scary, heating system ancient we couldn't control - got burnt on exposed heating pipes
Quirky hotel with lots of charm! Our no-nonsense room was very comfortable and spacious. I was glad for the review telling the hotel lobby was in the restaurant/bar, which had great burgers and breakfast. Lots of on site parking.
Only issue we had was with our toilet not flushing consistently.
friendly staff and good food
Bedroom pretty basic but stayed before so knew what to expect
Liked the spacious newly decorated room
Liked it all but room could have done with a couple of easy chairs and small table possibly
All the staff were great really helpful
Comfortable and friendly place to stay. Clean and staff very helpful.
Food Staff Bar Location
Dusty room, not as clean as it could be
Great location, bar menu for evening meal was good, and the food itself was lovely. Nice relaxing place. Room was good, bed comfy and good nights sleep had by us all. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Sherwood etc.
Could have done with a tad bit more choice at breakfast. Though the cooked breakfast was lovely.
A nice location, nearest to Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. We've arrived around 19:40 - 19:45 and were still able to eat in the pub (they serve food till 20:00) - that was very cool that they've taken our order though it was already around 19:55. The food was though quite mediocre... Oh well, fresh and warm - that was the main thing. The room was clean, recently renovated and painted ... and that was exactly the problem. Read on to "what didn't you like".
As stated previoulsy, room was recently painted and it STUNK of paint. The windows were closed, mind you, and the room was not properly aired. Yes, I know, it was our fault that we didn't ask for another room immediately. We just thought that we'd open the windows and let it air for a couple of hours before sleep - wroooong! We spent a night in a gas chamber, literally, and suffered from some intoxication due to strong paint smell the day afterwards. Headache, nausea, etc. Nice. Oh, and we slept with open windows ( 6 dergees outside, mind you). Also, it you do renovate the room and put new furniture in - why not change a matress?? The matress was horrible, we could feel every single spring. Our backs didn't thank us for it next morning, trust me.
We were the first people in a newly decorated room, it was clean with pleasing décor. Our bags were carried upto our room.
Unfortunately we were sleeping in a very lumpy uncomfortable bed with dips and prominent springs. This was due to the fact that the beds in the newly refurbished rooms were being replaced on the day we left, I hope they were. Had we had a new bed we would have been happy to grade the hotel excellent.
Room was of a good standard for the price. Food int the restaurant was also good.
Bathroom door wouldn't close properly.
Good breakfast with good prompt service
The room was nice enough and the bath room was lovely. Very easy base. Good parking. Quiet area. Charming building.
The dark colours in the room and the breakfast was (a great size) but a bit over cooked. The wifi was non existent.
Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast. No fuss. Comfortable bed.
Toilet macerator set off at odd times. The shower temperature was difficult to get right.
Staff were really helpful and polite and food was excellent both the evening meal and breakfast
Food - steak night!
To hot !!!!!!
