Location, room patio, style of hotel, garden, local walks, lovely friendly staff, excellent dinner menu and nice beers
Breakfast was below par (cold, toast only cooked on one side, bacon burnt etc). Room had either previously been a smoking room or some guests had been smoking in it as there was a distinctive stale smoke smell. Decor really good but a little tired in some places (eg broken tie back in our room)
Lovely setting, lovely staff, good sized room and bath, silence, lovely private patio, lovely ducks, easy access, good parking, delicious breakfast, lovely canal walks.
A little expensive but the quality of the Dundas Arms justifies the certainty of a rather special place to stay.
location, rooms, breakfast would have rated the hotel higher if it wasnt for the fact that the evening menu was basically non existant saying that the food was good the service was terrible in the bar and restaurant....the next morning the owner was on breakfast - service and food where fantasic
staff in the evening very poor and nothing left on the menu at 7pm
Setting was beautiful, lovely gardens and outside tables next to the canal.
The location, the atmosphere of a busy pub, the beers. The staff were charming and friendly. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great.
The room was a bit basic, gun cabinet provided but no hairdryer! Dinner was slow and a bit disappointing when it finally arrived. The staff needed more training.
Front of house staff they try very hard but to me seems like there's no support for them I would take people like this on in my places I own I'm in same trade
The food,, i had food both nights I stayed both starters on both nights was really bad first night gone off second microwaved ?? Chef was shouting at front of house staff it was the food that was bad not them
Good Location next to canal
Food very mediocre and expensive for what it was. Had evening meal and breakfast- both disapointing.
Location, comfortable beds, good parking, tasty food
Unfriendly staff, very slow service at the restaurant, NO WORKING WIFI
Friendliness Quality of food The setting and scenery Ducks swimming on the river and very tame too
Beautiful location set along the river. Room had a landing to the river with tables/ chairs etc.
Not suitable if you have a toddler really.. Location is between river and inset, so effectively surrounded by un-guarded water. Also next to train line.
Great location! Very convenient stop over if you are travelling on M4(or else). Pretty garden , quiet & very comfortable room and nice bathroom. Nice food and great ales in the pub. Over all just charming !
We were cycling the Avon & Kennet Canal so the location was perfect. Excellent friendly staff and food was very good.
Poor wifi reception in room.
Comfortable room with good facilities. Beautiful garden and very dog friendly.
Meals were of an average quality only, and a little exspensive for what you got. Could not reccomend the food, which is a shame because everything else including the service wad good.
Very charming property in a beautiful country setting by the Kennet & Avon Canal. Good beer selection and decent food.
A little expensive perhaps but worth it if you aren't watching the pennies.
Bed, patio, food - all superb
Bathroom could have been cleaner, such a shame as this was the only thing that let it down.
Very friendly staff
Excellent breakfast Lovely rooms, especially the ones on the ground floor with French windows Dinner menu Garden
Location of bar/queues to get drinks
The location and facilities were good
They seemed to be having a few staffing problems. Guests should not be aware of this.
Lovely rooms, superb friendly staff, good food and an ideal location of you happen to be a fly fisherman!
A large comfortable room. Very friendly staff and good breakfast.
There was no wifi available throughout the premises during our stay.
Bedrooms are very comfortable, breakfast was good
Bar prices are a bit expensive
Room was large, clean and shower excellent.
Having to ask for everything ... ie at breakfast limited selection available. Tea, coffee etc not topped up daily in room. Only one easy chair supplied and had to ask for another as there were 2 of us staying in one room but only got a dining chair. There was no lift and we were at the top of hotel....stairs were not easy for me.
Location, atmosphere, food, comfortable bed, friendly staff, ample parking.
Can't think of anything I disliked.
View! Staff very good. Food very good. Property requires a good deal of T.L.C. It is just missing out on the finer details but this is what makes the difference between excellent & Just ok!
-No wifi during our 3 days -window frame & Sash Cord broken (health & safety issue) -glass shelf over hand basin dangerously positioned over hand basin, major danger of hitting nose/ forehead when washing or cleaning teeth. - STAIRS VERY STEEP - no hand rail and no lighting - DANGEROUS! General lack of care. Dining room window COVERED in spider web on the outside. Major potential not being used to its fullest.
Good beers, friendly staff.
Only had small car park with many contractors vehicles. Had to park over a bridge and walk to the pub with luggage.
