Friendliness and professionalism of the staff Cleanliness of the room Pretty location Easy access to nearby towns, villages and hiking routes.
Breakfast wasnt brilliant and the room was a little worn in parts but these were minor issues overall and didn't spoil our trip in anyway.
Excellent location, great room and tasty breakfast
The staff were really helpful and very friendly. The room was nice and big and very comfy. The food was amazing and very good prices. Will be going back very soon. The pub it's self is set in a really nice area and easy to find.
friendly staff and bed
weak to non existent wifi in room
Staff were really friendly and very welcoming to my dog. (And to me!) Beautiful location, great food, real log fire. Gorgeous.
Everything from the welcome, the roaring fire and general vibe to the very attractive design of every room and the delicious breakfast. I loved the private outside space at the back of the bedroom where you can sit and enjoy the river flowing by. This is the perfect combination of confident, calm quality with a fun energy - you feel as if you are in the place everyone wants to be.
Nothing at all.
Beautiful location and excellent standard of rooms and cleanliness. Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.
Bed in Chub room creaked and the mattress was past its best. Restaurant had run out of vanilla ice cream and marmalade and yogurt for breakfast. Although we had booked through booking.com for two nights at a price of £160 , the Dundas Arms tried to charge us £200. They suggested that Booking.com had made a mistake, although they revised the price to £160
The warm welcoming management team and excellent food. Cosy bar, roaring fire in lounge area and excellent food.
Our stay was too short.
Food excellent staff lovely location superb
Wifi not very good.
Lovely homely room with perfect small patio by the river. Comfortable, well equipped and quiet. Attached to a perfect country pub this is a wonderful place to stay.
Only a very fleeting visit but couldn't find anything wrong in my short time at the Dundas.
The staff, the food, and setting
Location: We were staying during a Race meeting at Newbury. We didn't even realise at first but the hotel is literally right next to Kintbury Station with a direct train to the Racecourse every hour. Staff Courtesy: We asked if it was possible to 'check-in' early so as to get to the races early. This the Staff did and even offered coffee while we briefly awaited our room as early as 1030. Very very Helpful indeed.
The only thing we could mention is getting woken up by other guests in the early hours of the morning as they dragged themselves in from an obvious late night out. However you definitely cannot blame the Hotel for this...
The general ambiance, the setting, the view of trains & boats & canals & the peace and quiet even if the trains make a little noise it's a nice noise. The solitude whilst still in the mix, it's just a nice place, I'll certainly return as I have before.
eating in the bar, I felt like an outsider, but I was feeling unwell and was probably a bit grumpy.
Hotm food, location, room
No breakfast card, tea bag served in cup instead of tea pot. No fruit, yogurt or pastries for breakfast
decor, staff , food, rooms
too close to railway line, could smell cooked food all the time !
Breakfast poor Expensive for a pub
Lovely setting ideal for easy walks
The position of the room with its outside table and chairs, ideal for watching squirrels in the trees on the opposite bank of the river, The cheerful helpfulness of the to our eyes, very young staff.
Drab decor in general and especially in room with bedside lights which were useless for reading. The seeming inexperience of the staff who didn't get their act together when dealing with a party of ten visitors. The poor quality of too great a quantity of the traditional 'Sunday roast' - beef in my case.
The location is picture perfect.
It was noisy. The sitting room area had an extension to the telephone which rang constantly. Staff not particularly well organised although on the whole very pleasant. The price of the food far out weighed what was delivered to the plate. Soup was luke warm, the pork roast bordered on inedible due to the high fat content. Lighting in the bedroom was dingy - such a shame as it was a lovely room.
-The staff was lovely and pleasant, -You had your own room with a river view, (ducks included), nice bathroom -Each room at the Inn was decorated nicely, a big garden at the back - Dinner was great (had steak and lamb cooked perfectly) -Breakfast was included, nice as well
If you don't have a car, it will be hard getting around. From London Paddington, we had to change to Reading to get to Kintbury. coming back was longer, no trains were running in Kintbury or Newbury on sunday, so we had to take a bus all the way to reading, then a train to Paddington
Big room (Pheasant), very comfortable bed, quality bed linen, good shower. Nice food (dinner and breakfast). Would not hesitate to use again.
Exterior floodlights lit up room, curtains could be better (I am a light sleeper, no pun intended!) They eventually went off (not sure when).
Everything, will stay again
Long time since I was in such a nice place. Excellent food, Great friendly Service, Beautiful location
View of the water was nice to see the ducks and moorhens from your bed.
The bathroom could do with a deep clean, toilet bowl, extractor fan, shower walls.
