Good to know there is a suitable pub with rooms in an area short of accommodation. I arrived far to late to eat, but enjoyed a pint of the local cider. The room was a pine-clad cabin, all perfectly clean and comfortable.
I was a bit nervous about parking my beloved Merc in the street, but nothing happened.
This time I stayed in the cabin at the back if the premises. I would defiantly stay in then again.
Great pub food and atmosphere.
Bathrooms need updated
The setting, location and traditional features of the property, ie log fire.. Wood beams, unlevel floor, walls and cieling .. All part of the character.. Staff were great, friendly dog making the place homely.. And a bed that gave me the best sleep iv had in years.
Electric Shower.. A pet hate of mine where ever I go.. Either too hot, too cold.. Too sharp or a dribbler. Apart from that I cannot fault. A lovely place to stay.
The hotel itself, I love old buildings and this hotel did not disappoint, with all it's nooks and crannies. I loved my room andthe bed was lovely and comfortable. The landlord was very friendly (so was Jake the dog) and informative.
The unusual cane lined furniture. The beautiful bedside inlaid tables
Bit hard to find
wonderful 16th centre biulding with loads of charm.
the accomadation requires a face lift. The bathroom imparticular.Their where broken windows, with tissue in the gaps, handles off doors and carpets that required cleaning.
Staff rude. Original room allocated renovations incomplete eg hair dryer on floor, Latches incomplete on door, soap dispenser in shower not mounted. In room finally allocated kettle dusty
The dog was friendly
I fhink the Dusthole is about 300 years old and on seeing it thought it would have a lot of character unfortunately i think the dirt in our room was probably about as old as the hotel.the window would not shut properly, there was a broken socket in the room, lights that did not work.the bathroom door would close if you gave it a good hard kick but try to open it from the outside and the handle and screws came off in your hand.when you walk along the landing be careful not to touch the broken window pane.the only time the proprietor engaged in any conversation was when we were paying him but that is something we definately wont be doing again.
lovely character hotel with old english feel
As often with 'old' establishments, comfort & convenience are sometimes also 'old'.
Excellent food and beer, Served by helpful friendly staff, and of course not forgetting Jake the dog.
Log fire Food Service Room very quirky Breakfast was excellent Have booked return stay
My room was close to kitchen so got woken up early by breakfast preparations.
A fabulous 15 century inn, great location and no problem parking. Lovely spacious room and bathroom, which were very clean. Slept really well in the massive bed which was very comfy. Had a great time, made to feel very welcome by the owner Tony and his dog Jake. Breakfast was very good and evening meal excellent, hot and delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend and will be returning.
The food was amazing! Breakfast was served early which was great for us. The chef is a very lovely and more than helpful man! His dog was friendly and made the place feel homely. Would definitely return
I loved the dog but if I my partner was with me he would have been annoyed. Purely because he doesn't like any pets.
Staff, location, room sizes, beds, breakfast, the German Shepherd....
Loo in one of the rooms hadn't been cleaned properly.
Loved the room - cabin 2. Loved the atmosphere of the pub. Food was very good and real ale superb.
Small Vegetarian menu with not a lot of choice.
Waiting an hour and twenty minutes to be served food-we had been told a forty-five minute wait. Dirty room-the waste bin was full of the last guest's rubbish. The shower was full of hairs-not mine. The cabin generally was dirty. The staff were scruffy and came back in in the next day wearing the same dirty t-shirt as the night before.
Staff friendly and helpful. To be fair, they were working in difficult circumstances as the landlord had been admitted to hospital in an emergency. Also loved the courtyard and building which has the potential to be wonderful.
The dust and cobwebs, and general air of neglect for every day cleaning. Amusing at first but 2 nights there long enough!
Quaint oldey worldly building with character. Ok breakfast.
Shabby, uncomfortable beds, no hot water in the sink , shower over flowing & tea making facilities but milk.
The Dusthole has a relaxed atmosphere, all the facilities are there, but nothing's 'in your face'. I have stayed there several times now and have not been let down.
Idea of cabin room was different, location ideal
Cleanliness of room, my daughters room had used sanitary towel still in bin ! Breakfast very poor with green eggs ? Still awaiting call back from them as eft something behind...
the smell of dog downstairs it lived up to its name of Dusthole the welcome was poor, I felt an inconvenience buffet breakfast meant it was only ever luke-warm it was not very clean
It was very inexpensive and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The breakfasts were good and the bathroom appliances were of a high standard.
Although the cabin was clean, there was no lock on the bathroom door and the partition between bedroom and bathroom was open at the top, so no privacy. The lobby and breakfast area had very dusty sills etc. with a lot of dead flies and wasps. Dirty windows everywhere.
The Dusthole holds character due to the nature of it's age. It is apparently a listed building so modifications to it's structure are restricted. This makes the dusthole quirker fastinating. The owner Tony and Jake the dog are lovely and features to Dusthole. The full English Breakfast in mornings are the icing on the cake containing locally grown, produced ingredients.
The cleanliness is disappointing and unfortunately the name Dusthole lives up as it is quite dusty in places.
spacious double room - as a single traveller was made very welcome. Good nights sleep - good breakfast. Very good evening meal reasonable prices.
