Good location for us between Longleat and Cheddar Quirky, rustic building with lots of character Excellent food - really great with generous portions and all at sensible prices. Recommend the homemade pies! Young bar man very friendly and welcoming Jake the dog! Looks intimidating but he's a big softie Room was dusty and dirty, as was toilet Bed was broken, but it was big and comfortable Old damp patches on ceiling Bathroom needs a re-vamp No milk in room for tea/coffeee Too expensive for what we received - £85 for superior room. Didn't appear superior in any way and needs some TLC Could be such a nice place if a bit of time and money was spent on refurbishment

Pretty much everything. Place was full of olde worlde charm. Accomodation was brilliant. Host was magnificent, as was the food. (Excellent menu!) Service was impeccable, yet friendly. Host, and staff were wonderful, and couldn't do enough for us. Bedroom was fantastic. . Only criticism would have been if it had been raining, which would have ment getting wet on the journey from the accomodation to the bar/meal table.

Friendly reception. Good food. Attractive old inn in interesting surroundings. Very quiet at night, although in town. Comfortable, ensuite rooms at reasonable prices. The bin lorry came at 6.30am and the noise reverberated round the courtyard - a phenomenon repeated with every delivery lorry.

I loved the old fashioned traditional pub/bar with it's old roof beams and open log fire. The food was nice. The room and facilities were a little dated and the cleanliness of the shower unit/curtain needed a little to be desired.

Very cold, the Central heating didn't work, the room was an unfinished work project, with the plaster unfinished.

Location and good food No hairdryer in room. Room directly above bar, so very noisy until bar closed at approx 11pm. Fine if you're planning tostay up that late, but we'd been up since 5:30am.

Good food, nice beer, clean room. Comfy bed. Pleasant mine host. Only one mild thing, on the front room, maybe a thicker, better closing door on the on-suite toilet. Noisy in the bedroom if youve got the wind!

Masses of character that you would expect from a inn built in the 1600'S. The food was excellent. Thoroughly recommend

The romantic thought of staying in a 15th century inn The romantic thoughts soon were quashed by the grubby carpet, lumpy mattress, dribbly shower and noisy pipework as well as the alarm which sounded throughout the 2nd night we stayed. Apparently there are better rooms shame we weren't offered one.

We went for a wedding at Kilver Court (walking distance) so had to get ready in our rooms and use the pub as a base for the grooms family. Its a pretty, cosy and traditional Old Coaching Inn with good pub food (no lunch on Saturdays) and generous breakfasts. Attention to our needs and special requests by courteous landlord and staff. We were given a family suite with two rooms and a bathroom plus a dressing area with huge mirror and hairdryer etc. as I had two daughters getting ready!! The landlady's sewing box and pins were produced to help with corsages etc! Very peaceful and no noise at all after midnight and our room looked over the garden at the front. Clarke's shopping village is a 20 minute drive away if that.

The dusthole was everything it purported to be. A 400 year old inn full of character, what a wonderful change from all the samey plastic palaces of todays chains' Tony the landlord who is also a font of local knowledge could not do enough for us, the food was delicious, and the whole atmosphere of the place was completely charming and relaxing. We would not hesitate to stay there again, and in fact will be doing so in the very near future. Prior to booking I had read some very negative comments about The Dusthole. Thank god I ignored them and decided to find out for myself. There was nothing I didn't like about the Dusthole.
