A nice old building. A nice English breakfast so long as you do not want anything healthy. Clean beds.
Dirty, cold, poor staff, argumentative staff, no hot water in wash basin with a blocked waste, mould in shower, no milk for room tea, no central heating working, dust everywhere, ripped towels, poor beds, hard pillows, lots of light bulbs not working in the bedroom. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Good welcome, attentive staff, excellent breakfast, well laid out friendly dog,
Had cabin, very cold, imagine lovely in summer,
I found every thing good and I enjoyed my stay. Would not have a problem staying there agaiñ and probably stay there next year . I would love to stay there in the summer and take advantage of the courtyard. Relax and just take in the surrounding building.
Quite and Peaceful Friendly helpful staff Comfortable bedding Spacious room and bathroom Linen smelt clean and fresh
Food was heated up from carvery and was luke warm Room needed cleaning thoroughly it was dusty - could that be a feature as its called the Dusthole? plumbing needs attention wobbly loo could only get BBC1 and 2 on TV. Needs some investment
A nice welcome from Tony again and good to see that Jerry was still looking after the guests. Still doing mean evening meals.
Nothing to dislike.
The friendly welcome by all at this "real" pub with loads of atmosphere, good food and good beer.
No particular dislikes.
The Dusthole is as the name suggests an old style coaching Inn full of character and charm run by people who understand the building, the history and know they are custodians not owners. The restaurant serves substantial meals, bar serves good ales and all prices are reasonable. We stayed in one of the outdoor lodges which was quite, warm and very comfortable.
Shepton Mallet is not a place I would recommend for a night out. The town centre is tired and felt threatening at night.
The staff and of course Jake the Dog. The warmth and friendliness of the hotel. The food was exceptional... At the end of the day "The Dusthole" is a hidden gem!!!!! We will be going back!!!!!!!!
Nothing at all!!!!!
Character of the place, friendly people.
To be fair the heater in the bathroom didn't work in the morning. The hot air heater supplied in the room helped but it would have been more comfortable if the bathroom heater did as it was meant which unfortunately on this occasion it didn't.
The room was very spacious.
The room seemed damp and unaired. Shower was for little people only! Breakfast left little to be desired. Didn't think it was worth the money at all.
Not a very warm welcome; just handed the key Breakfast was a bit dried out as it was kept warm under lights Chilly in the log cabins Bit noisy
Staff very friendly and very welcoming. Rooms are huge.
The rooms are very tired, I thought the room rate was very high for the quality of the rooms, furnishings and fittings
Old builing with alot of character.Fantastic breakfast.
Food in the evening was average.
Food good. Located right on our cycling route. Fascinating old building. Friendly owner
Tired and musty feel to room
Old world charm and rumbling buildings
The Hotel needs a lot doing to it to bring it up to standard
Good to know there is a suitable pub with rooms in an area short of accommodation. I arrived far to late to eat, but enjoyed a pint of the local cider. The room was a pine-clad cabin, all perfectly clean and comfortable.
I was a bit nervous about parking my beloved Merc in the street, but nothing happened.
Very comfortable bed, lovely breakfast and the room was nicely decorated and mostly clean.
The staff weren't particularly friendly and the man who met me didn't offer to carry my bag even though I am a petite girl and there were several steps to the room. Breakfast was also not explained and I had to ask another guest how it worked (self service from the room round the corner). Although the room was mostly clean, it had large areas of cobwebs and could have done with a thorough dust. There was also a significant fire hazard in the room as the curtain rests on the heater - I had to bunch the curtain up to be able to heat the room safely. I contacted the owner immediately about this but I never heard back to know if he's done anything about it.
This time I stayed in the cabin at the back if the premises. I would defiantly stay in then again.
Great pub food and atmosphere.
Bathrooms need updated
The setting, location and traditional features of the property, ie log fire.. Wood beams, unlevel floor, walls and cieling .. All part of the character.. Staff were great, friendly dog making the place homely.. And a bed that gave me the best sleep iv had in years.
Electric Shower.. A pet hate of mine where ever I go.. Either too hot, too cold.. Too sharp or a dribbler. Apart from that I cannot fault. A lovely place to stay.
The hotel itself, I love old buildings and this hotel did not disappoint, with all it's nooks and crannies. I loved my room andthe bed was lovely and comfortable. The landlord was very friendly (so was Jake the dog) and informative.
This place has mixed reviews but in all honesty once you understand what the history of the inn and so rounding area is all about and what the owner is trying to do with keeping as many original features as he can , you will fully appreciate it and a it's beauty . Fabulous place very lovely staff and we fully intend on staying in a cabin again
The unusual cane lined furniture. The beautiful bedside inlaid tables
Bit hard to find
wonderful 16th centre biulding with loads of charm.
the accomadation requires a face lift. The bathroom imparticular.Their where broken windows, with tissue in the gaps, handles off doors and carpets that required cleaning.
Quaint place but some of the rooms are not up to standard and not value for money.
Breakfast very disappointing. Not fresh but done as a buffet - cold and hard. Positioned in corridor despite suitable room nearby. Room in need of renovation. Generally, place in need of TLC and it showed in attitude of owner..
