We walked around Cambridge on a beautiful February day. The Earl of Derby was clean, friendly & convenient for our purposes. We would definitely stay there again if we went to another concert at Cambridge Junction.
bar open late, good breakfast
Free parking (a bonus in Cambridge). Location on taxi/bus route into town, only 10 min trip in by taxi. Comfortable, clean and quiet - the rooms block is apart from and set back from the busy Hills Rd and the main pub. Excellent breakfast, large portions, quick to arrive and all the newspapers. Sport on TV (the pub is rugby and Irish-themed).
Rather hot and stuffy in the room and could not open a sash window in the night, no heating controls. But I'm used to a much cooler room temperature, would be fine for many people.
Very helpful staff, and a quit hotel with a distinctive character and atmosphere.
Location, size, staff.
Bathroom (no heating and no shelving or mixer taps). Size and location of TV
This is a super friendly place to stay. Food excellent, staff friendly and room very comfortable.
Having to leave
shower, tea making and location
bathroom was cold a bit noisy late Sat night lack of choice for breakfast - eg no cereal, yoghurt etc
Staff and location
Actually it is quite far to city center (10 mins-15 mins) but just take 3 mins from train station to hotel, stuff is very friendly and the breakfast is wonderful
Food, cleanliness, location, free parking, friendly staff, better than the faceless chain hotels
Food was fabulous
Bathroom was clean but toilet bowl was badly stained. I just niped to shop and got bottle of bleach.
We stayed one night for my husbands birthday, all staff were friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble, big comfy bed, hot shower, filling breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
There was absolutely nothing i didn't like about this place, one of the best we have stayed in.
awesome place to stay, it's clean, shops near by, 10 minutes from town and we really enjoyed our brief stay.
Location, room, staff.
good location lovely staff
- the bathroom door didn't work properly and locked us out in the middle of the night - noisy room
Location, homeliness, parking, wifi, breakfast, pub open til late, shower, bed, changed towels and made bed
Heated towel rail didn't work but changed towels for us anyway so no biggy
Clean and comfortable
Décor a bit tired
Great location. Good sized room. Good breakfast.
Good location for Howerton College.
Fantastic location, right next to the train station and city centre, good solid English breakfast included in the price and a pub attached to the guesthouse which had all the Premier League games (but never got rowdy enough in the evenings for us to be able to hear it from the room).
Staff was amazing. A fun place to stay! Convenient to train station and bus service to town (although it is a nice walk to town as well).
kind staff, breakfast in the pub tached the Hotel and fine access to Cambridge city center.
noisy because of the room facing the street, poor mattless.
staff members are friendly and flexible, helpful. Since this is a pub at the ground floor would expect some noise at night but it was kept to the minimum
suggest to provide a better director to the train station
Staff, pub, room, easy walk into Cambridge
Warm and friendly would stay there again if in Cambridge again.
Breakfast served on a small plate and all piled on. Could have used a bigger plate and to serve the toast on a separate plate. Ps I am a fully trained chef so the breakfast was a bit poor.
