Friendly staff and excellent food. Easy walk from train station.
Visit was too short.
Location, the value for money was excellent and the staff are really friendly.
Comfortable beds, powerful shower, spacious room, decent full English breakfasts
The Earl of Derby staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spotlessly clean, well maintained, plenty of hot water for a bath or shower. The rooms are equipped with hairdryer, Iron, kettle and selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate with real milk, sugar (white and brown) and a smaller selection of biscuits. The beds are clean, comfortable, the room warm, an occasional table for office work (if you have to) and you have full control over the rooms heating...have it as hot or cold as you like. Food is superb with a choice of snacks and meals an the full English breakfast is a feast unto itself - give yourself an extra fifteen minutes to let it go down. Just on the edge of town it is an easy walk to all of Cambridges historic views but also close to all the shops. An easy walk to busses or train station else book a taxi to pick you up outside. All in all I cannot praise the Earl of Derby enough which is why I always stay when I'm in Cambridge
There was nothing I didn't like
Very helpful staff, comfortable room and hearty home cooked food. Excellent value for money
The quality of the room was surprisingly good. Staff are very helpful. Close to the railway station and excellent value.
No cereals for breakfast. The bar itself needs some refurbishment.
Room like it was back in the 70's it was clean, bar area very badly run when checked in till minute we left our meeting which was around 3 hrs barman/manager just sat at the bar drinking beer and delegating to younger staff, we asked for a coffee and it is the only one he served and that was cold. If I was to stay incambridge again better to spend another £10 and go somewhere half decent
A good place in a good location at a good price. No frills but everything required was there. A good place to have a hearty meal and lay your head for the night. Very nice, friendly staff. Was concerned being a pub that it might be noisy but this definitely was NOT the case. We would definitely stay again if in the area.
Not a modern hotel but then they weren't asking for modern hotel prices.
Soo close to town centre :)
Good no frills accommodation. ("What it says on tin")
Food very dull.
The Earl of Derby is just opposite the Botanic gardens and a 15 min walk from the centre. Also very close to the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a good combination and was speedily delivered to our table. Nothing seemed to much for the staff. Would definitely stay here again.
Good sized room. Warm. Comfortable.
Liked the size of the bed and free WiFi. Free car park space with a 20 min walk into the centre.
Sockets falling of the wall. Lack of sockets for a bedside light. Floor sloped so when in bed feet were fractionally higher than head. Description lead us to believe room was in separate block away from pub when our room was above the pub so it was a little noisy.
Cleanliness of the room & en-suite. The quality of the Full English Breakfast.
location, big room
Could be more cleaned
The double room was clean and relatively spacious with good facilities ad the staff was friendly. The WiFi was sufficiently fast too.
I requested specifically for a quiet room, but what I did not realise before booking was that the hotel is right next to a main road and a construction site, which resulted in a magnificent cacophony of wailing ambulances and car sounds throughout the night. Then when you finally manage to doze off at around 4am, the construction workers start breaking things outside your window about 3 hours later. Not recommended for a night before an important business meeting or a university interview.
Location near to the university college where our son is studying, easy free parking, good reasonable priced bar food.
This is more of a B&B than a 'hotel' but our stay was fine and would definitely go back. There is plenty of parking (which we needed) right next to the property, great english breakfast and very helpful staff.
Nothing - all good
Staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Convenient location close to rail station. Obvious care put into facilities. PUB
Was made to feel very welcome. The bed was reasonably comfy, there was plenty of hot water and the breakfast was really good and plentiful.
Room was a bit cold.
The location, close to the station, was great. The staff were helpful and the room was as clean as one could demand.
Very spotty wifi. Not enough lighting.
I thought the location was good for the hospital which was the main reason for my visit. It was also good for walking to the city, if you don't mind a walk.
The pub was a little noisy in the evening as the customers used the outside space under my window for smoking
It was quiet, comfy, friendly, warm, bathroom had good shower with variable hot water, plenty of soap/shampoo & soft towels, plus a great brekkie...parking was safe and easy and included...!!!
Nothing...!!!! "It did exactly what it said on the tin"
The Earl is very close to Cambridge Station. We were visiting for the Robert Plant concert and this offered everything we needed - it was clean, comfortable and great value.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
