The ensuite room was reasonably well lit and seemed warm on arrival. There was tea and coffee-making facilities and spare pillows. The selection and quality of the breakfast included in the room rate was very good indeed.
The main bathroom light was not working so I had to make do with the small light over the sink. The room was freezing at night, the duvet was inadequate and there were no blankets in the room. Although an additional heater was supplied, it glowed with such a bright light it would have disrupted sleep. In hindsight sleep disruption due to light might have been more comfortable than lying awake shivering half the night
Very accommodating with letting us order food as we arrived after the dinning room should have shut very good value for money..
Beds where comfy but the duvet needed to be thicker or blankets supplied had to supply extra heating for the room which didn't work correctly I had to use a towel to over duvet to keep warm
The staff where great very helpful and polite. Travelling at Christmas is always a bit stressful but made easier by good staff.
Rooms need a little tlc.
noisy motor all night from outside room 5 (fan or fridge?)
Creaky floorboards in the 'Stable' accommodation.
Low cost, location was good for me. Plenty of parking space.
I have known this hotel for years and it has gone very down-market. I hated being in the annexe, made me feel very vulnerable - very flimsy yale lock on door.Noise from creaking floorboards above. Seating area in room shabby and dirty. Bathroom also dirty and in need of re-furb.Uncomfortable bed. Tv kept going off due to 'poor signal'. How this could be described an an 'executive room' is beyond me.Breakfast started at 8.00 - too late for me. When I tried to check out main hotel was locked. Very poor all round really.
Only 5minute walk into town Friendly staff Can go back whenever due to back entrance when pub closed
Wifi is very poor Breakfast to expensive for what you get Had dinner once night and pie was stone cold inside
location and price of room, breakfast ok but a bit pricey
room we had looked like it had not been hovered for weeks, cobwebs in every corner, 4 ladybirds flying around room, bulbs not working in all light fittings, funny smell like drains all around bar area and room itself, sausage on breakfast had been slowly cooking for about a week! even a dog wouldn't attempt it, it was that hard
Room not ready on time had to wait over an hour, check in was 2pm n we arrived at 3.30pm. Cobwebs and dust still clearly visible when we eventually got in the room. Bearing in mind this was a pub I Bought a round of drinks whilst waiting even after cheekily asking if they were free as we had to wait over an hour but no I ended up paying. The following morning a knock on the door for housekeeping to be told they would return in 5 mins we went ont for the day and returned to an unclean room. I had to walk to reception (in the middle of a pub) to ask for toilet roll for our room and the staff member didn't really care.
Short walk to the town Easy access to M1 and A1 Plenty of parking space
A little cold in our room
Heard anyone walking past outside. Heard all footsteps above
We had a Lovely quiet room in the stable block away from the main pub/hotel. Clean and tidy with very comfortable bed and the shower was amazing. Staff very polite and helpful. All in all a very good room for the money.
Room could of done with a little touch up. The odd bit of paint needed refreshing and the bathroom door didn't shut properly.
Creaky floorboards all over in stable block.
it was clean spacious and comfortable and the food was excellent portion size was large which i enjoy could not fault the place at all in fact i am putting it on face book and recommending it to my friends
I enjoyed my overnight stay at te Elms Hotel. I had stayed there before so knew what to expect in the way of comfort, etc. It was a bitterly cold evening and both my husband and I have health problems which lead to us feeling the cold badly. I asked if we could have an extra blanket each. Eventually this was forthcoming as well as an electric heater. We were very pleased with this treatment. Breakfast was very good.
I had to follow up the request for extra blankets as my first request appeared to have been ignored. Other than that our stay was fine.
The food is awful.
Lovely room ... comfy and good quality. Comfortable bed. Polite staff.
Only thing wrong was the sealant in shower was moudy ..needed a good bleaching
Bathroom needed updating and redecorating - this let the room down. Restaurant food was average at best.
good value for money and the staff were very pleasant.
the floorboards creaked at the slightest pressure. Could hear everyone creaking around, particularly our neighbours who obviously moved on early the next morning.
The bed was comfy and location quite
I thought the staff were aloof and it didn't feel like a hotel, we basically checked in at the bar ,we stayed in stables which felt like uni halls, I thought the room was a bit cramped and too warm, and the the bathroom a bit dingy probably a ventilation problem. The meal at the hotel was SHOCKING, ding.....dinner is served. Sorry elms a lot of work needed before we would plan on stopping again
Great hotel, great food, highly recommended A+++++++
good food good location second time we have stayed and will be staying there again
The Elms could be a great hotel but attention to detail let's it down.
Whilst comfortable and staff friendly the room cleanliness was poor with cobwebs all over the lights, (the one out of 5 that actually worked that is!), and chewing gum was stuck to the bedside cabinet. The bathroom was shabby and towels grey The place has clearly seen better days but on the positive it's very cheap and OK for 1 night.
Fantastic place to stay, quiet warm clean, the rooms are fantastic, lots of space, very friendly staff, I recommend this hotel to any one of any age, gets my 100% every time, would never stay any were else in retford
The quiet the space the lay out, I could go on all night,
Very comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast choice. Restaurant available if needed.
