Room clean and close to family we were visiting There was no continental breakfast as described in the brochure only cerials and four fruits in a bowl. Then it took 20 mins for scrambled egg on toast which arrived cold and poached egg on toast which had the egg hard and rubbery when these latter were replaced again the egg were overcooked. As my wife and I were in a hurry and we had turned up at 8.00am it was quite frastrating. There was only one young lady present who was trying her best to take breakfast orders and open the place up for business

we were a bit unsure when we booked the room at this hotel as there were a lot of negative comments from previous guest's. Upon checking in the receptionist was very friendly. we asked for some taxi numbers and she offered to book the taxi for us. so sorry i dont remember her name, she was young, wore glasses and had dark hair.on first impressions of entering the room we were pleasantly surprised, the room was really lovely, (we were in the main building) even my 7 year old daughter was impressed. the bed was very comfy the shower was hot, i cant fault anything. overall we thought the room was really good value for money. we would definately stop again! the only thing i would suggest is that the room attendants check the use by dates on the cream/ milk as the little cream cartons provided for coffee were past there use by date.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bedrooms had been recently done up and were really nice, comfortable and clean. I had breakfast there and it was well done. The bar is a nice place to relax after a busy day. Good location being close to rail station and town centre.

I found it hard to find fault with this hotel. Apart from the odd minor defect everything was much to my liking and if this were insufficient to describe my one night stay, I came away feeling as though I'd had a real break. The location is great for anyone seeking a bit of peace and quite and the historical eliment adds to the appeal. The staff I found very eager to help and they gave very professional service. They also treated me with a great deal of respect. I already have in mind another stay. The floors of the room creaked a little bit too much which for a long stay would be somewhat irritating.

The room (in the stable bock) was extremely comfortable and well laid out. For the price we were expecting 'budget' conditions but were pleasantly suprised with what we found.

Beds were very comfortable and the room clean and breakfast is ok. Not bad for £45 per night. Noise from air conditioning unit outside of bedroom, meant I had to use ear plugs to get to sleep. Food options not great for evening meal. Generally, not recommended due to noise during the night from air con and the restaurant is not great.

Since the last time I stayed, the rooms have been decorated and are of a much better quality, the beds are new and the bathrooms just how one would expect a hotel to be. Very comfortable, clean and welcoming

Staff particularly good, excellent breakfast. Stayed a couple of nights for a Wedding in the middle of October 2011. The Wedding reception was very well organised, food excellent, staff very efficient serving, clearing tables between courses and all manner of things. Hotel in the middle of being refurbished but still a most enjoyable stay. Special thanks to Samantha, she was always cheerful and most helpful. Many thanks.

The best feature about the Elms is that it didn't feel like part of a characterless chain. The staff were also very good. I was only using my room to sleep, so I didn't have high expectations but not even having a 'phone in the room seemed ridiculous. There was an old tv with no remote that didn't even work on my last morning. A light bulb needed replacing, The shower was held together with duct tape so I couldn't move the shower head. The bed covers smelled damp, so I got them replaced. The general effect was dark and dingy. The receptionist told me that the hotel is being completely refurbished (the week after my stay), so I'm curious to see whether that happens.

“We recently stayed at Bartle House and we honestly could not fault it at all. Phil and Kindall are the most welcoming and brilliant hosts, not forgetting little Blanche! The food is outstanding, we had a full english breakfast each and american pancakes which was brought to our room and served for us which was lovely. The room is amazing very clean and spacious, bigger than we thought, it had everything we needed and more. We went out for our evening meal and would definately recommend going to nearby Ranby to the Chequers Inn; it has beautiful homemade food and a lovely atmosphere for young couples or families. We would recommend staying here even for a one night getaway; you will be treated amazing. We have stayed in some beautiful 5 star hotels in the past and this is definately on par or even better. Thank you for a lovely weekend.” Lee, Rotherham |
