Excellent value for money and the possibillity of having a lovely roast dinner at a great price on site. Room was clean and comfortable and unlike some places you have plenty of tea and coffee! I left very early the next morning and there was no hassle - just leave the key in the room. Good location not far off the M5
Funny smell in corridor to lodge rooms but thankfully not continued into the room! Bathroom decor is a bit dated but fully functional
The room was clean and warm Which staff I spoke to were friendly enough
My partner and I did a tour of Devon visiting family, and this is like a home from home good staff great food stayed in 5 hotels in a few weeks this was the best one by far stayed before and has always been good.
Everything. Fancy a run down 70s b&b? Then this is the place. Fancy hairy sheets with tobacco in and damp conditions this place has it all. After complaining with we upgraded to the "best" room in the hotel. It has features such as unwashed mugs, a shower held on with a a zip tie which sprays directly at the wall, and filthy carpets. The staff was unhelpful and useless this place isn't fit for purpose.
Great value for money, clean and comfortable. On site with a pub so eating was easy and breakfast in the morning.
Having stayed at a toby before the way breakfast was run was disappointing in comparison. Was clean and tidy but decor slightly dated, maybe due a bit of a face lift.
Convenience to City and coast
No wifi in the room
We had an overnight stay to visit Exeter and the Toby was a good location. The staff were very pleasant and the manager very helpful. The room was warm, the shower good with plenty of hot water both night and morning, and the breakfast was substantial.
Very nice staff, friendly and helpful. Ample parking
Room a bit tired but very clean
The second room was better. Comfortable bed.
The first room we were given smelled of smoke and urin and the bathroom light did not work. No free wifi Hotel looks tired and dated.
This is the second time that we have stayed here. We use it as a convenient location for a quick overnight stop, and also feel that it's safe to leave a fully loaded car on view in the well lit car park. All-you-can-eat carvery and breakfast is good value, reasonable choice and quality (though juice was not included in the breakfast, and had to be purchased from the bar). Bar/restaurant has a friendly atmosphere for relaxing in the evening. Seems a popular place for locals to frequent in the evening (worth booking a table as we had to wait for one to become free, though not for long). Staff friendly and helpful. The room was adequately furnished, warm and clean, and beds comfy.
décor is a bit shabby (eg paper peeling off the wall beside my pillow) and a slight lingering musty smell about the bedroom corridors. (but would none of this would stop us staying here again, as the advantages outweigh this for us)
food, bed, price
room old fashioned, décor no good
Very tired hotel - needs modernisation in both the hotel and restaurant.
Reception very poor, rooms tired but clean and comfortable beds.
Security of room. A security chain to lock door not very comforting
Food and room were good value for money
As I am a smoker it was a long walk to have a cigerette
disgusting will be passing photos onto environmental health and Devon CC. This room is not suitable for rent. Not even apologies bugs on walls in the winter!!!! Mould not even attempted to be treated. Most disgusting place ever stayed in and never ever complained before. £60 is a joke and £10 would have been to much.
Cheapest place in the area Huge car park Warm, well equipped room Breakfast - excellent value and service times
MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED EVER! Very tired decor so looked shabby Chaotic breakfast instructions/process Rusty kettle element Not convinced about level of security
Rooms good do with a revamp but value for money
Hard to get hold of anyone at reception
Service in the restaurant
Location was great, food was great and the free breakfest was all you could eat.
The bathroom sink was not in the bathroom but instead in the room itself
It was quite and clean and comfortable
The bathroom is really old
Smell Decor cleanliness beds
Friendly & helpful staff
Cook Brussel Sprouts properly by cutting a cross into the base to half way through to cook the inside.
Great value. Worth spending the extra tenner for the family room. And free wi-fi is coming to the rooms imminently making it the perfect budget business stopover.
The long scabby corridor
