Enjoyed our stay immensely
We stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. We received a very warm welcome and immediately knew we loved the place! The staff were very friendly, rooms were big and comfortable with lovely en-suits. The breakfast was awsome. Full English was had by all and the staff were more than happy to change the orders to suit. Would love to return to have an evening meal here as the menu looked lovely.
The Fairfax Arms has a very friendly atmospere, which can only be because of the very friendly and helpfull staff. We had a superb evening meal in their restaurant, which was reasonably priced, and served up with a smile. We prefer this approach to it being too formal. There was a hearty breakfast too, with lots of choice. We first started staying at the Fairfax Arms when we "doing up" a cottage some ten miles away. The cottage is finished but we still keep coming back!
The only small complaint I would have is that the room where we stayed over the pub is a little small. But it wasn't a problem either.
Staff very helpful, bed very comfy, breakfast delicious. Great short stay - wish we had longer.
Street lamp through the window and no bath.
Friendly, helpful staff Very clean room Excellent food
No problem with hotel but be aware village is out of the way and nearest shops are in neighboring village so take things you consider essential with you
We only stayed the one night but would definitely stay here again. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant before retiring to the cosy bar. A full English breakfast the following morning set us up for the day. We would recommend the Fairfax arms to anyone wanting a relaxing comfortable stay.
The location the room and the bar and restaurant
Everything. The staff were warm and welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The room was superbly equipped with a very comfortable bed, a smart shower and brilliant huge fluffy towels. We had a delicious meal and when the owner found out that we were celebrating our ruby wedding he gave us a glass of prose combo help us celebrate.
Excellent service, good food, lovely sheets and pillows, spacious bedroom.
Bedroom too hot on first entry.
Staff very helpful and warm.
very friendly Manager and helpful staff in all areas with excellent food
The hotel was ideally situated and was well positioned for local attractions. The bedroom was well furnished and the restaurant had a good choice of food and was well cooked and served by cheerful and attentive staff. A good and enjoyable break overall.
The noisy bedroom with delivery vans / beer lorries delivering in the early morning. Additionally, our bedroom was situated over the bar & restaurant which created extra noise.
Quality and friendliness of the service Quality of the food
Breakfast started 30/60 mins too late for those with things to do Other guests and visitors walking through the first small dining room very close to the diners -
Very comfortable and well placed pub. Food was excellent.
excellent food and service, attention to detail
bed a bit hard
I liked everything about the Fairfax
The friendliness of the staff, the food was excellent both for an evening meal and breakfast. The room facilities were good.
Our room was over the kitchen and the warmth might have been good in December, but on a hot August evening it was somewhat unpleasant. There was also the smell of cooking which crept into our room when we opened the windows.
good location to visit many different tourist attractions
Top quality dining and at a reasonable price. Bedroom and ensuite a happy mixture of the old and contemporary.
No lounges (other than the bar area)
Very friendly welcome, staff excellent, location excellent.
Rooms very warm although we were in the middle of a heat wave.
Location at th side of a beck, food good our room was nicely decorated and comfortable.
The room was excellent, the young staff were charming. Delicious breakfast. Overall a wonderful stay.
I did think the older staff let it down, they appeared a little rude & definitely could learn a thing or two from the younger staff members -- like flashing the odd smile!
The room facilities and finishing were great, massive comfy bed and huge bathroom with quality shower and seperate jacuzzi bath. Complimentary filter coffee and range of tea's, along with home made choc chip cookies. Great stay.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Lack of phone reception was a bonus. Excellent food, lovely staff, picturesque location.
Was too hot.
