Bedroom Cold as thermostat down stairs? Each room could do with a electric heater to put on until radiators kick in !
Food and comfort of bed'
No TV on any public areas as major rugby going on.
Standard of service was excellent - nothing was too much trouble
The room was comfortable, the bathroom was well appointed (slight design problem with the sink - the tap was too far away from the bowl, couldn't help but splash water). Staff helpful if not always fully trained. Didn't ask for wifi password so don't know how good it was. Fresh coffee in room! Good quality toiletries.
The room was very warm so suggest the radiator is turned off. This was a frosty night in December but still had to have the window open. A couple of staff could have done with a little more training but they were all very friendly.
really enjoyed our stay, staff were really helpful and nothing too much trouble
A very good pub restaurant with well appointed comfortable rooms. Good value.
I was expecting an ordinary village pub and was surprised at the quality of the public and private rooms.
Nothing, it was just what we needed.
Staff exceptionally good - very attentive but discreet, friendly and accommodating. Fantastic location for touring Yorkshire Lovely combination of proper English pub with first class hotel amenities with excellent menu, and decent beer too
Nothing apart from a bit hot at night
The staff were welcoming and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable, cosy and spotless with great facilities! The meal at the Fairfax Arms in the evening was great value and delicious! Would definitely visit again!
There was nothing I didn't like about my stay at the Fairfax Arms and will be recommending to friends and family.
Enjoyed our stay immensely
We stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. We received a very warm welcome and immediately knew we loved the place! The staff were very friendly, rooms were big and comfortable with lovely en-suits. The breakfast was awsome. Full English was had by all and the staff were more than happy to change the orders to suit. Would love to return to have an evening meal here as the menu looked lovely.
The Fairfax Arms has a very friendly atmospere, which can only be because of the very friendly and helpfull staff. We had a superb evening meal in their restaurant, which was reasonably priced, and served up with a smile. We prefer this approach to it being too formal. There was a hearty breakfast too, with lots of choice. We first started staying at the Fairfax Arms when we "doing up" a cottage some ten miles away. The cottage is finished but we still keep coming back!
The only small complaint I would have is that the room where we stayed over the pub is a little small. But it wasn't a problem either.
Staff very helpful, bed very comfy, breakfast delicious. Great short stay - wish we had longer.
Street lamp through the window and no bath.
Friendly, helpful staff Very clean room Excellent food
No problem with hotel but be aware village is out of the way and nearest shops are in neighboring village so take things you consider essential with you
We only stayed the one night but would definitely stay here again. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant before retiring to the cosy bar. A full English breakfast the following morning set us up for the day. We would recommend the Fairfax arms to anyone wanting a relaxing comfortable stay.
The location the room and the bar and restaurant
Everything. The staff were warm and welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The room was superbly equipped with a very comfortable bed, a smart shower and brilliant huge fluffy towels. We had a delicious meal and when the owner found out that we were celebrating our ruby wedding he gave us a glass of prose combo help us celebrate.
Excellent service, good food, lovely sheets and pillows, spacious bedroom.
Bedroom too hot on first entry.
Staff very helpful and warm.
very friendly Manager and helpful staff in all areas with excellent food
The hotel was ideally situated and was well positioned for local attractions. The bedroom was well furnished and the restaurant had a good choice of food and was well cooked and served by cheerful and attentive staff. A good and enjoyable break overall.
The noisy bedroom with delivery vans / beer lorries delivering in the early morning. Additionally, our bedroom was situated over the bar & restaurant which created extra noise.
Quality and friendliness of the service Quality of the food
Breakfast started 30/60 mins too late for those with things to do Other guests and visitors walking through the first small dining room very close to the diners -
Very comfortable and well placed pub. Food was excellent.
excellent food and service, attention to detail
bed a bit hard
I liked everything about the Fairfax
