bed was too soft
couldn't ask for a better view from our room (5 I think). fab food - dinner and breakfast.
room was right above bar and noisy with the live music on that night but not so bad that we didn't nod off
The food was of good quality and the staff were friendly.
Do not book the family room as it is poor value for money. It is tired and an oppressive room . They have attempted to cram too much into the room. Chipped furniture, shower head broken, poor lighting and cold.
location right beside waterfalls
Great location, the ambience in the bar was spot on, a big roaring fire and candles. Super friendly staff made us feel very welcome and the food was above expectations - we had the ox cheeks and Cullin Skink - both of which were delicious. A total find in an amazing spot. Good ale too.
Nothing to dislike. This is an old Scottish inn, so there are few bits of decor that look a bit tired and things are a bit creaky, but who cares?
Wonderful location, great mood. Unfortunately we stayed only a day, in the pub downstairs there was a very nice duo concert of guitar and bagpipe. Recommended.
View from bedroom beds bath Excellent breakfast
Steep stair (difficult for my mum) Socket for kettle Only a bath not a shower Very small TV
The food was all well presented and tasty. The Byre we stayed in was a selfcontained cottage.
Had a great stay our rooms over looked the falls which was amzing, and staff where very friendly ,food was great and prices good would highly recomend this hotel.
Really enjoyed our weekend break here in this beautiful location our room was clean and comfortable and food was delicious staff were very friendly. Would recommend a visit .
The Inn is absolutely beautiful & full of character, done up very sympathetically, retaining a lot of what looks to be original features. It was so cosy, both in the bar & tea room & the food was delicious! A big thumbs up, can't wait for an excuse to go back!
Room was dusty and cups not cleaned until two days after check in. Towels not changed for two days and sheets not changed at all. No shower. Room is quite dark but old building so maybe that's part of it.
The staff were welcoming and very friendly and the food was excellent!
Atmosphere Place Nature Clean Hotel
Location, solitude of the cottage and the entertainment in the evening a folk singer called Gary were all excellent.
Food portions. I had the Haggis, Tatties and Neeps but the portion size was more akin to a starter. I was still hungry afterwards.
Few days of damper cooler weather in August so fire and candles lit giving a warm, cosy atmosphere. The staff all friendly and helpful with directions for drives out.
Whilst our room at the far end at the back was small it was in keeping with the tradition of the inn and comfortable for our needs. So not really a dislike
Bathroom was comfortable and recently refurbished with underfloor heating option. Bed sheets/duvet comfortable although too strong smell of fabric conditioner or similar. Location is great, and it was not noisy. Good atmosphere outside with tables for pub guests near the Falls. Good guest parking at the rear.
Bathroom: Towel rail heater did not work Lighting was dim incl bathroom mirror light No shelves, not enough hooks Door jams and makes loud noise at night. Bedroom: Too much furniture/furniture too chunky for the size of room and bunk beds made entry to the room awkward. No side table/no side table lamp. Staff: Not particularly friendly or helpful. Looked like they would prefer you not to be there (includes the restaurant in the evening and breakfast in Cafe). Asked for brown bread with soup, was informed they did not have any. But when mussels arrived it came with brown bread (which was dry). Cafe/Breakfast: Dim lighting Asked for an additional grilled tomato and some mushrooms with my salmon & egg, and was told it would cost an additional £5! Kitchen had run out of haddock but staff failed to inform us when handing out the menu. Checking in/general: Had booked through Booking.com and my receipt did not specify how much my credit card had been charged. However, reading the small print it reads that the hotel will take the remaining payment after 1-2 days. The owner (I assume), was not interested when I tried to clarify this, and just said we had only been charged £30 and had to pay the remaining 90 when checking out the next morning. He seemed very busy at the time and was not interested in further clarification. This is probably what happens when you combine the reception with the bar and it is Saturday at 6 pm! Not a good first impression! The Killin Inn is described as a boutique hotel!?? Clearly overpriced and it is just a B&B were you can get a pub meal downstairs. Even if your furniture includes a large, wooden bed (which is out of place in an otherwise over-furnished room) it does not mean you can categorise it as a "boutique hotel" and charge £120!
Great location in an area steeped in Scottish history. Great bathroom and quiet rooms despite the main road location.
The byre is a perfect small set up for self catering for one or two. The option of booking per night with excellent breakfast is a winner!
Location is amazing Room was very comfortable Breakfast was fantastic Staff are very welcoming and helpful Arranged an early check in based on availability which was much appreciated Would love to visit again
Nothing to say on this as loved our stay
Location. Friendly, helpful staff. View from room.
Fire alarm repeatedly going off and no-one knowing why Could have done with a note on the entrance to rooms where to register
The location was good, very pretty
The room was very dark. We ordered lunch and after waiting about 20 minutes asked about it and found out that our order was not placed! Then we ordered soup as it was quick but there was no real apology or discount. Not very impressed with the service.
Wifi didn't work in room Room was tired with a chunk of plaster missing from the wall
Location was good - except for traffic noise
Facilities in the room were very basic. The room was cramped and not at all comfortable. Although the room was probably designed to look and feel traditional, it was overdone and it felt as if we were living in poverty. Overall the room and lack of facilities created a depressing environment.
Nice hotel, great location and great bar and restaurant
