Staff were very friendly and welcoming, location is great for town centre
Outside fan humming all night which really disturbed our sleep
The staff were absolutely amazing and so accommodating with fast and friendly service. They told us of things to do around the area and told us a little history of the place too. I will warn people it is a working pub that does get busy but noise is well controlled and a high service is still maintained by all staff. The room was very clean and comfortable so it was easy to sleep peacefully. I would recommend here to anyone and we shall definitely be visiting again.
Staff were fantastic-particularly Geoff.
No mirror in the room. Difficult to access sink. No hairdryer. Noise of staff running up and down stairs at closing time, shouting what stock needs ordering -woke us at 12.15am.
the bedroom was spotless.
The shower was too slow, the heating was off a lot, we had to ask for it to be switched on.
We stayed here last year and posted a very positive comment. This year was even better! It is what it is, a pub in a market town but the staff, owners and chef could not have been more helpful and friendly. They were busy but took so much time to totally understand and accommodate my wife's gluten and dairy allergy. Chef staff and owners spent twenty minutes with her and provided appropriately. Spotlessly clean, outstanding hospitality. Have never been made to feel so welcome. We'll be back.
Abergavenny is nice and Central for using as a base to head in to Cardiff or to do walks in the Brecon Beacons or the Wye Valley. The town itself is nice as well with a couple of decent restaurants
I like a firmer mattress but that's more of a personal choice I guess Also, the restaurants seem to close quite early unless you book
Clean and friendly The staff went above and beyond to help. Lovely breakfast and with it being a pub there's bar food in the evening. Would recommend to anyone traveling around this area.
The location of the pub.The friendliness & helpfulness of the staff. The breakfast. The size of the room.
Not enough variety of beers. (This did not in any way spoil our stay)
The pub was very nice the room and breakfast was very good value for money - clean and comfortable.
The staff couldn't do enough for us. The staff made sure we were all comfortable and if we needed anything, didn't hesitate to help. The cleanliness of the room was to a high standard and very comfortable. Thank you.
Staff very friendly and smart bar/Lounge arrears. Particularly impressed by Chef's knowledge and willingness to cater for gluten-free options for my wife.
Cheap single beds not the best and room a little cramped. Should have taken more notice on booking and made sure of a double. Bathroom was a good size but shower, again, surprisingly cramped.
Broken shower. Poor food.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. It had tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel was placed perfectly for a stroll around town. The full english breakfast was excellent. The room was a decent size. I would recommend it to others.
Furnishings and carpet a little dated.
Lack of off road parking.
Loved how close it was to everything helpful staff and clean and tidy have the best ceaser salad around nice room there was 3 of us in fIly room only suggest they put a long mirror in room otherwise perfect stay.
Knew nothing about Abergavenny apart from Marty Wildes song. A great and pleasant surprise we were there for the fortnightly open I mike band night and had a ball this pub isn't linked to tourist info centre but the info lady said it should be because everyone likes it. Owner relies on word of mouth
Couldn't find fault
Location was great, 2 mins into the town centre. Easy parking on the road outside. Very friendly staff and easy access via the pub.
They only had a Twin room so we booked that. The photo on Booking.com looked good (although they must have used the ultimate wide-angled lense to get it!! The room was the most basic i've ever slept in and my wife wasn't overly enamoured. The en-suite was adequate but the sanitation unit was very noisy and it took around a dozen attempts to get the electric shower to provide water of an acceptable temperature and I eventually gave up. Glad we were only there for one evening. The bar has been nicely refurbished, if our room was typical, they need to do the same with the accommodation.
comfortable hotel with a pleasant bar
street noise on a Saturday night
Noise of generator? in back yard
Gareth was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and beds very comfortable. I would stay here again. I was very surprised at how lovely the pub was - had been a bit apprehensive staying in a pub with my teenage daughter, however, it was a very pleasant atmosphere in the bar, and final bonus...parking - right outside the pub!
Limited on road parking but motorcycles can be parked in a more secure area behind the hotel if wished. Great pub with relaxed atmosphere & very pleasant staff. Large room spotlessly clean & well presented. Good choice of interesting food at sensible prices. Close to other eating places if you want a change. We would stay there on our next visit.
Staff were really friendly and the owner was excellent and very helpful with regards to our dog. Lovely place and the best steak in a very long time.
Ordered sticky toffee pudding.....not what arrived!!
The hotel was clean.the staff were friendly and helpful.
We didn't like the noisy toilet which and the room we were given was very small, with no chair to sit in. We could hear the people in the next room's conversation and when they came in late it woke us up.
Very friendly and helpful staff Nicely cooked breakfast Convenient location and parking Nice atmosphere in pub (although we didn't have opportunity to enjoy personally.)
Could've had some veggie sausages!
spacious, bright and clean family room helpful, friendly staff great location near the Brecon Beacons lovely market town
noise from the street and the pub right underneath the room on Market day
