The food and location
Breakfast was from 8.30 to 9.30am: we would have liked the chance to eat a bit later!
Location on the edge of the moors close to the Dales and the Lake District.
Rooms a bit tired, but comfortable enough. Just a bit old-fashioned but should I expect more.
Location Food excellent Staff lovely
some decor was dated but that is personal
The staff were fantastic made us sandwiches even though the kitchen was closed. Bedroom was cosy clean and comfortable with lovely views over the garden. The food was excellent and good size portions.
The weeds etc growing out of the roof! The paintwork in the bar and outside could really do with a lick if you painted the door from the garden into the bar it would make a difference.
VERY FRIENDLY GREAT FOOD
ONE SMALL POINT WE ASKED TO RESERVE A TABLE FOR 2ND NIGHT AT 08:00 PM WHILST IN THE BAR BUT WHEN WE CAME DOWN FROM OUR ROOM THEY HAD NO NOTE OF OUR BOOKING. IT WAS RESOLVED FAIRLY QUICKLY.
Altho we stayed at the Inn on a busy Saturday, the facilities were set up to ensure that nothing was rushed or crowded and we relaxed totally. The food was a-mazing.
The sat nav took us down a so single track road to a field on the wrong side of the village. This issue with the post code needs addressing.
Beautiful scenery, nice food. Helpfulness of the owner to bring us to C2C trail in the morning, although he was very busy himself !
Excellent service and hospitality
The location is beautiful. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. This is a genuine authentic Yorkshire inn with home cooking and hospitality.
The beds are past their prime.
Food was excellent
For being in the middle of nowhere, road was busy and quite noisy
A comfortable and relaxed country inn. Excellent locally sourced food in copious quantities.
Peace and quiet of the countryside yet not too far away from other places of interest
Blazing log fire Country inn 'feel' Pleasant helpful staff Really enjoyable very good food Will definitely use again
Bedroom and bathroom cold on arrival and poor heating of bedroom during cold dismal weather - whilst appreciating need to save money with high fuel costs.
Very friendly staff. Locality to areas of outstanding beauty, great for walking and dog friendly. Food excellent on both nights and good value for money.
Decor slightly dated but comfortable. Lighting too bright in both the bar and restaurant which detracted from the cosy atmosphere.
the location was lovely .it was great to be able to take our dog with all the walking to be done. the staff were very friendly and breakfast was great.
The Staff were welcoming ,room was comfortable, food was excellent. We will visit again in the future.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub had a good atmosphere and the building was lovely. Towels were good and bed linen Cooked breakfast was very tasty with great poached egg, local sausage and bacon. Bedroom was cosy, warm and quiet
The room was tired-décor cheap 1970s , bathroom better but new smart white sanitary ware is appropriate when they've taken trouble to retile nicely for £100+ room. I would rate it at £65 a night. Too much big furniture made room very small. Chef needs to think how much bread (and source artisan bread or make his own) to go with delicious ham pate. The pub has great potential but is trapped in 70s- make the most of the original features, remove red plush-go back to flag floors and make fire the centre piece. You've got it all there, great place, tasty food ,great staff just make the most of it.
The peace and quiet- away from everything. Waking up to birds singing instead of the sound of traffic !
Beautiful location and very much a country inn.
Bedroom was rather small.
Food good quality, homely. Expected a little more from restaurant menu
Warm and welcoming unpretentious hotel. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Fabulous food. Comfortable bedroom. Looking forward to returning at a later date.
Good atmosphere, great staff
Friendly, genuinely chatty staff. Recently refurbished rooms. Great breakfasts, and food menus. Quietness (despite road), views, mist, rain, soft water and bleating sheep! Love it! - it's honest!
No dislikes really - just improvements - larger (but not big!) flatscreen TVs on wall mounting, wider range of bottled beers (Peroni, Abbot Ale for example), lagers etc. possibly draught (why Fosters?!). Fly catcher in dining room! - and as interesting as some of the 'musak' was, sometimes a little too loud! - and I'm partially deaf!
Location was fairly remote, which was great. Food was very good.
Not easy to get the towels dry. Very hot so had windows open and the stay squeaked in the wind.
