No access to restaurant so we couldn't eat, Bar was also full so had to eat out
Super big room ,great evening meal and good breakfast. Lovely to be so central in this lovely place.
A bit noisy early in the morning as we were near the bins etc
Had to eat evening meal in the pub and order at the bar
Location in centre of Helmsley. It is not too far fom York and in beautiful countryside.Staff were very helpful. Several other restaurants around within walking distance to choose from.
Car parking a bit of a squeeze at back of hotel Having to walk past breakfast guests in the dining room with cases.but breakfast room was roomy and airy which was good with outside window.
Great location with lovely staff and good food. Huge room & a good shower.
Woken early Sunday morning by noise of staff unloading etc at the back of the hotel. Huge bedroom had plenty of space for some comfy chairs or a sofa to relax on but only upright dining style chairs provided.
All of the above
Lovely room, restful sleep. On suite facilities were first class. Hearty breakfast, the sausages were very tasty. Would definitely stay there agin.
Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Room clean and bed comfortable.
Noise from the market setting up at 4.30!
Pub restaurant has locally sourced menu and is very good and excellent value for money. Helmsley is a characterful town well situated for York, the Coast and the Moors. Our room was spacious and comfortable, staff were helpful and friendly. Ideally situated in the centre of town - the well glazed windows meant that any local traffic or revellers did not disturb a good night's sleep.
Breakfast not to the same standard as evening pub food. Weak coffee and over cooked eggs and limited bread choice.
Stayed here for two nights for a wedding. Excellent all round, I would highly recommend it.the staff were very friendly and the view from our room overlooked the town square! It was just lovely!
Staff were friendly and courteous making our overall stay very good
Bedroom no. 12 was little tired and could do with a refurb, other rooms were fine
Helpful Staff Cleanliness Comfortable Room and facilities very good Location Car Parking
Great breakfsts, comfortable rooms. Lovely location in this pretty village and beautiful surroundign area.
Staff basically ignore everyone...no good mornings in sight. Car parking ridiculously tight.
Staff attitude was very helpful before and during stay. Large room. Handy location in square.
Location of room (22) with bins, clattering and aircon noise outside window. Bed not very comfortable. General hotel décor and condition needs updating. Price was top-end.
Excellent food and staff were very helpful. There was a good choice for breakfast.
Convenient location, helpful staff.
Not enough private hotel car parking.
Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent traditional food
Paintwork on stairs a bit jaded
We recently stayed at the Feathers to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a warm welcome from the staff and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location for walking to nearby Rievaulx Abbey and exploring the town.
Lack of choice for vegetarians - mushroom Wellington was on the menu as standard but as I react to mushrooms I rang in advance to check if there would be an alternative and was advised that there was always a veggie option on the specials board. There wasn't a second option but the bar staff were helpful and asked the chef if anything else could be offered. The option was a basic stir fry as we were told it wasn't the chef who cooks veggoie food. This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay.
Location is excellent, right in the heart of Helmsley. It's a very friendly pub in a remarkable little town with plenty of quality shops and restaurants and many nearby attractions including Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley walled garden and the heated, open-air swimming pool. The room was enormous with a huge, comfortable bed. Good meals at reasonable prices. Good wifi.
Room was a little gloomy. Shower was difficult to control, varying from chilly to scalding hot. Limited parking.
Smashing receptionist, felt like talking to an old friend. Great little room (7) albeit overlooking the square which can be noisy!! Tourists and revellers and early morning tractors. Breakfast; some items pre cooked and reheated; why? Evening food prices expensive. Went to Wetherspoons in Thirsk. Generally a good reasonably priced hotel. Enjoyed our stay.
Helmsley is a tourist town as we found out. Being Londoners we are used to high prices so we drove the 14 miles (20 minutes) to Thirsk. Much more reasonable.
Location was excellent
Abrupt unwelcoming staff would not recommend
Cotton sheets....food...easy going staff.....flexibility of provision and response of the staff.
lack night porter in case of any emergencies
Food was amazing, good selection of real ales, excellent location. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Now I know the market starts setting up at around half four in the morning, should I stay again the night prior to market day, I would request a room at the rear of the building.
Very friendly staff
Car park a bit tight!
