Fabulous classy hotel
Rooms are hot
Location excellent for Blenheim palace. Just a gentle stroll to end of high street and you are at one of the entrance gates.
We had the garden room, although very quiet, you could hear the people upstairs, and would have liked the choice of a bath or shower.
Friendly staff and a great building/location/room we had a lovely stay.
Great location bang in the middle of Woodstock
The room literally looks straight into a fire escape was above the car which was noisy until late and the girl at breakfast was quite rude making it clear that she want happy serving at 1025 when breakfast finishes at 1030...fair enough but considering the room is poor value for money at £200 yes you guessed it I do want my inclusive breakfast even if it inconveniences the poor staff.
A smell of dust within the main reception/hall area.
Comfortable, individual, excellent food, friendly helpful staff. The gin bar is really amazing, and I am already tracking down at least 2 new brands that I tried!
Badly lit mirrors (impossible for make-up). Poor Wi-Fi (but the phone reception in the area was bad too, so it may not be the fault of the hotel).
lovely location, very nice lunch in courtyard, breakfast also good
appalling room described as superior- small, cramped, hot, bed sloping backwards, v high bedside lights impossible to use. very disappointing as rooms had looked lovely on website pictures
Friendly receptionist and Maitre D. The decor of the room, the cleanliness and the bathroom.
My room was on the ground floor and the only window faced the street and parking. This meant I couldn't have the curtains open even though there are net curtains as passers by could see in - or at least that's how it feels. It felt as if I had been put in the annex which was not what I had anticipated. The bar that was once upon a time cosy now feels soulless and uninviting. I had treated myself and my adult son to a night and dinner at The Feathers and was disappointed with my room and we went elsewhere for dinner.
The walls were very thin so we could hear the other guests trough the walls.
Wifi didn't work
friendly, approachable staff with flexible attitude. nicely decorated interiors, liked small hotel environment, very comfortable and relaxing.
bathroom wasn't clean enough, window sill and window very dusty. empty wine glasses not removed from room following day.
Food was brilliant both evening and breakfast
Decor a bit tired needs sprucing up a bit.
Rooms Staff Food Location
Annoying fan outside bedroom window/ door
Prices Service charge on food Rude reception staff Poky dark room for £240 b&b
Food & restaurant staff were excellent atmosphere was good & sitting on patio was quite & relaxing.
No tea / coffee in room although you could order from desk this not as convenient . Parking , well there is none so hopping to find a place when you arrive or come back from days out not always easy so could end up driving around & waiting.
Good Location; stylish townhouse
Room on the ground floor in the Annex was very small, admitting light/noise from the street. I arrived late in the evening and judging by the confusion of the reception staff and the state of the sheet presented to me for signature, the room was not the one I had originally been assigned. Television/remote control were poor/worn out. No shortbread biscuits/tea facilities - used to be provided. Breakfast - more staff confusion - a soggy [overcooked smoked haddock] affair.
Our room had a very disappointing view - ie no view at all other than the other sides of the hotel
For an expensive hotel, the facilities were lacking. No tea and coffee in your room (you could order them though), meagre breakfast, expensive drinks.
Excellent dinner Warm welcome Comfortable and stylish room Excellent shower Free tea or coffee brought by room service instead of a kettle/machine in the room was a nice touch.
The rugs in the downstairs sitting rooms needed a good clean. They really let the ambiance down. We requested crisps or nuts with our famous 6 o'clock gin (delicious!) and were told they didn't have any!
Food was good.
Bedrooms dark and not inviting and the superior room was definitely not superior.
Reception staff were exceptionally couteous and helpful.
Location was excellent and very near to shops - interesting and boutique-type shops and some beautiful art galleries - and Blenheim Palace. The town is most charming.
The room was on the cramped side and very dark - lights needed to be on even in daylight hours. Unhelpful staff when we arrived a little early and asked if we might have a room to change in as we were going to a wedding before the check-in time. We were told we could change in the toilets - and were not impressed. We felt they could have been a little more flexible, especially in a hotel of this calibre. Bacon was seriously black and burnt at breakfast and had to be sent back to the kitchens. Would have preferred tea-making facilities in the room rather than served on request.
comfortable rooms we stayed in a suite. Nice and central for Oxford and Blenhiem Palace.Plenty of Restaraunts and bars. Nice double bath to relax in.Good all round service and excellent breakfast.
nothing all good good good !!!!
Lovely hotel with plenty of friendly staff on hand to make a very relaxing stay. The gin bar is a real novelty and the staff there are very informative in helping you make a choice. The room was lovely and cosy with beamed ceiling, but furnishings and bathroom all very modern and comfortable.
No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and it was a bit strange having to find on-street parking and having to remember to move!
