Very good,

“Fantastic service, comfort and ambience. I can highly recommend everything about The Feathers.”
Janice,
London
The Feathers Hotel, situated in the center of historic Woodstock on the doorstep of Blenheim Palace. Originally 7 separate houses, the hotel boasts character and charm with antiques and log fires. Woodstock is one of England's most beautiful and famous country towns. Constructed largely from Cotswold stone, its buildings date from the 12th century. It is host to a wealth of interesting shops, restaurants and historic buildings - including the Oxfordshire County Museum. Situated only 8 miles from 'The Dreaming Spires' of the historic University of Oxford, on the edge of the spectacular Cotswolds and huddling next to the gates of Blenheim Palace - home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Woodstock has much to offer its visitors. Woodstock is just a one hour drive from London Heathrow, Birmingham and Cheltenham - Shakespeare's Stratford is a mere 45 minutes away. Due to the age of the building, there is no elevator at the hotel. Hotel Rooms: 21

The location was excellent within the beautiful village of Woodstock and the staff were all very helpful and professional. Somehow we were upgraded to a suite and had an extra room which was nice. As a very old property it has been well renovated and has interesting modern design features. Beautiful soap/toiletries in the bathroom. Excellent room service. Lovely breakfasts. Because the hotel is very, very old and is many little terrace buildings that have been joined together there are lots of different levels in the hotel. This makes it very charming. However, the floor sloped quite a bit in our room and therefore so did the bed! It wasn't too bad, but I did feel like I was sleeping up a little hill!

The food was excellent and there was a good wine list. I am not a lover of ultra modern decor and the colour scheme of purple, electric pink and electric green was ghastly. The carpet in the restaurant was so busy and bright it detracted substantially from the ambiance.

It was a unique hotel with a great selection of Gin and food. The Hotel could have done with some back ground music in the bar to imoprove the overall feel of the hotel. there was a problem with some sort of water pump? or plumbing which caused us to be woken up early. The paper we ordered didn't turn up.

I have stayed at the Feathers once before and generally been happy, although the rooms aren't air conditioned. They do have wifi in the hotel but it all comes down to what room you are in. Some rooms get very poor reception. The food is generally very good. My room ran out of water, not just hot water. I mean completely, with no water coming out of the taps or shower. I was in the middle of shaving, which was a nuisance. They offered to move me to another room, but that was a hassle. I finished shaving using bottled water. The manager said they replaced their boilers and had tested the system but they clearly hadn't tested my room. They didn't offer a discount on either my dinner the night before or the room rate, and I didn't ask for one. It would have been a nice gesture. I won't go back.

Extremely comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant. Location in middle of Woodstock and Blenheim Palace and grounds ideal for a weekend away. Oxford only 5 miles away - a very convenient 30 minute bus ride away, thus avoiding notorious parking situation in the city centre. Would have like some tea/coffee making facility in the room.

Friendly helpful staff-large comfortable bed and a great location in woodstock. Shown a very small but pleasant attic bedroom with a tiny cramped bathroom- Given the choice of 2 others-although a superior room was booked & paid for the rooms did not have the same standards as shown in photos?-The toilet did not flush very well. The room needed dusting-there was dust in the folds of the valance sheet & other areas. As this is marketed as a "fine dining" hotel-breakfast held high expectations- unfortunately it was disappointing-limited choice of prepared fruits & pastries-no fresh bakery style bread-average standard cooked breakfast with anything but the usual costing more money-1/2 slice of black pudding! & unpleasant greasy sausage. Staff training not appropriate when guests are eating! Pity a nice hotel-let down by some basic standards.overall I was disappointed with the experience even at the reduced room rate.i did not feel it was great value compared to other hotels in the area.

Perfect location, we were there to attend a wedding at Blenheim Palace. Very quaint and cosy. Will stay again. Rooms on upper floors not recommended for elderly people but fine for us.

Fantastic meal in the restaurant. Comfortable room. Pleasant lounges and bar. Strangely there was no mirror at all in the bathroom, unless you count the floor-level mirrors on the bath panel! We did request a shaving mirror but it did not materialise. Staff were a bit offhand - another customer's request for a restaurant table was met with a brusque response that the restaurant was full that evening. No apology or suggestions for alternative venues in the town.
