The meal we had in the hotel restaurant was amazing, so worth the money. Definitely would come back and was impressed with the choices at breakfast and the little buffet.

Everything. Staff great room amazing. Food brilliant. Stayed for our 30th wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. We relaxed by the pool, in the lounges and in the room. Couldn't have wished for more.

The hotel was lovely in public areas, lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff and good facilities. Breakfast was excellent.

We booked a standard double room which was a little disappointing. It was very noisy as it was near the bar and overlooking the road. The bathroom was tiny and needed updating. We would stay again but would definitely book an exclusive double.

We only stayed one night on our travels and didn't utilise the spa facilities. Staff were polite and friendly. Some shared genuine warmth and humour. Room was fine without being "wow" but we expected that as we booked the cheapest option. The pool area is relaxed and really catches the sun. The small library of books and DVDs is a nice touch. The food at dinner and breakfast was all tasty - my wife absolutely loved her dishes while I enjoyed mine without being blown away. I'd prefer heartier portions (I was glad I had eaten a delicious pork and apple pie from a place n the market square a couple of hours before dinner) but it's not that kind of restaurant and so the portion size was expected, so no real complaint there. All in all, our stay was a good experience.

The hotel and its facilities and ambience - just perfect

Really need to make the double beds one bed not two singles strapped together - for such a sophisticated hotel this was a 'no'!

The poolside was superb with seating both in the sun and under awning and a good bar service. The restaurant was a taste experience and the staff knowledgeable re the menu. Good parking. The staff were always helpful and pleasant, a credit to the hotel.

The stairs to rooms like No.18.

Portions at dinner were tiny and left me un satisfied. Restaurant did not live up to its billing -- a place to starve in style.

A lovely hotel in a great location with excellent service. Unfortunately our stay was cut short due to illness, however, the staff member we dealt with was very helpful and understanding. We will definitely return and next time use the facilities to their full extent.

Ground floor room was a little close to the road. Would probably request an alternative when booking next time.

Staff greeting was great, spa facilities were lovely, pool area is beautiful on a sunny evening, spotless facilities, turndown service a lovely touch.

Drinks prices were high, pool area could use a little more seating, blackout curtains would be handy in the summer & who wouldn't want butter with their toast at breakfast?!

The staff were excellent; friendly and very accommodating. The spa and poolside was wonderful. Helmsley itself is a beautiful Yorkshire town which will return to again and again.

The hotel Wi-Fi was very hit and miss. The rooms, whilst comfortable, were small with too much furniture leaving little room to move. They were also exceptionally warm at night.

Location Pool area Excellent breakfast Good cheese board

Too few staff available. V poor dinner. V pretentious nouvelle cuisine with little to commend it. Shoulder of lamb turned out to be a lamb rissole. Ancient TV sets with dirty remotes

Staff were fabulous in every way. The outdoor pool and surrounding facilities were an absolute dream. Evening dining was a pleasure with well prepared meals and attentive staff.

Last days breakfast was a disappointment with Eggs that were hard and Bacon that was rubbery.

The rooms were lovely with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the stay. We used the spa on each of our 4 days and were made to feel very welcome and the facilities were good. We only ate breakfast within the hotel which I must say was excellent with plenty of choice. I would highly recommend this hotel for a lovely relaxing few days and will certainly be returning for further visits

On a personal note we found that the restaurant manager had no idea how to talk to staff. This was done in ear shot of guests, not a good sign.
