The room was comfortable and the dining experience was excellent. Small hotel with friendly at attentative staff.
There wasn't a good place to sit for pre and after dinner drinks, only a couple of tables near the main door. Very cold in winter!
The wonderful staff and fantastic food.
Struggled to get the wifi
Lovely breakfast in the morning and we had a free entry to the gardens at Waddesdon Manor (pity the weather was so cold). Very comfortable bed and a quiet room at the back of the hotel.
The radiator in our room was off when we arrived so the room was cold. Windows draughty. Ok when the very thick curtains were drawn though. I kept stubbing my toe on the inch step onto the bathroom tiles (room 2).
Well appointed rooms
Service at breakfast was a little slow. Staff were more interested in chatting than noticing that guests were waiting to order. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
Ease of booking in
Friendly staff, comfortable room (although it was quite small and the shower flatters to deceive), and excellent supper. Disappointing wifi system which does not allow full access to email...
Location, near Aylesbury Clean, spacious and well maintained room Like being in Room 12 in the outbuilding away from the main road so quite nights sleep Staff service each morning was good Breakfast and local produce, especially fruit yoghurts
Nothing really - on the main road, so would not like a roadside room and would request same room when I book again Hard to see where to park when arriving in the dark
Very helpful staff. Very good room clean, warm, comfortable and with all necessary equipment. Good food and wine and excellent breakfast. Slight problem with the room on check-in, was sorted by upgrade to a suite. Staff very good.
I wish I could have stayed longer.
As my husband has mobility problems we were given a room/suite in the courtyard. Delightful, quiet and with views over the gardens. Unexpected free access to the gardens of Waddesdon, from the hotel, was a real bonus too. We had dinner on our first evening which was excellent.
All the above
Slight road noise and room was too hot, but slept well on 2nd night
Lovely hotel ideally situated for a visit to see the Christmas light show at Waddesdon Manor. Good value with friendly staff and excellent food.
A larger lounge or bar area to enjoy a drink in the evening would have been nice.
Friendly staff, enjoyable evening meal.
One room was too small and had no bath. Breakfast portions were rather disappointing. Extra charge for smoked salmon was unreasonable.
excellent staff, good food and as we where in the new part at the back, quiet. We also had a gift of a bottle of wine as we where there over Christmas, nice touch
spacious bedroom/sitting room, away from moan road in stabel block. Lovely breakfast
no space to 'be' in main building
The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the breakfast was made from tasty, local produce.
Beautiful hotel, ideal for visiting Waddesdon Manor. Large bedroom with fantastic shower room and extremely comfortable bed
Everything, but could have done with a footstool to help me get in the high four-poster bed! Gave my husband and I a giggle though!
Wished the receptionist had got back to me to let me know whether or not they had found an item I may have left behind.
Wonderful experience. One of the best hotels I have stayed in for a very long time. Beautiful room. Old stable block very recently renovated. Beautiful décor. Excellent food and service in the restaurant and at breakfast.
The road into Aylesbury but the hotel cannot be blamed for that!
The rooms (8+5) were very tired looking, furniture well used, bathroom (5)very small, nothing like the website. As we had booked a table for 8 adults + 2 children for lunch, letting the hotel know that this was a big birthday, we fully expected some token of acknowledgment from the hotel, like a small cake or similar with our coffee. All rather disappointing, would not recommend this hotel
Good bed! Moved to main building on arrival as allocated twin bed not the double requested-quickly sorted-but rooms near the road prone to traffic noise early on.Very helpful staff.Good breakfast & evening meal.Good location to visit Waddesdon Manor.
Poor double glazing let in all the traffic noise, but room was nice. No public room/bar/relaxing area. The food tables spilled out to almost the front door.Only a couple of chairs, right in a corridor near check in to sit on.
Characterful hotel, food was good, location near to Waddesdon manor which we were visiting..
Wifi didn't work in the room
Lovely big bathroom with bath and shower Quiet room in annex away from road noise Reasonable prices for drinks at bar
The staff was delightful and rooms were clean. The restaurant was pleasant with very good food! Situated within walking distance to Waddesdon Manor which was lovely.
Walls were a little thin, could hear our neighbors.
breakfast scant poor sausage unable to cook fried bread bacon burnt tomato almost raw
