Score from 107 reviews Wonderful
the surrounding area is nice, with the church and old trees. The bathroom was warm and nice. The room was fine.
The sign at the door claimed that they opened 3pm but the staff didn't turn up until 40 minutes later. Another person had been waiting outside since 2pm. That's just not ok. The restaurant was a dark, not clean enough area. The hotel has potential but they need to work hard to regain the decreasing reputation. Turn off that TV and put on relaxing music.
Very friendly staff
Parking was a problem as we arrived in the early evening.
Clean tidy very comfortable - Very warm welcome from both managers. Ate in restaurant both nights. Food excellent and reasonable. We drunk in the bar 2 nights and had great time and banter with managers and locals. Real ale. Close to castles
Staff were friendly and welcoming. The suite was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Food was fab too
Quite noisy as on a busy road. Annoying green light (probably to do with fire safety) in bedroom - kept me awake)
Location Comfortable Private
Rude owner - left waiting an hour and 20 minutes after verbally agreeing check in was altered to 14:00 then alleged I hadn't called as he claimed to be the only male on the premises Claimed emergency situation reason for delay but when initially contact was made there was no mention or initial apology, just 'well I'm here now' Other guests had to wait 20+ mins for some response Kitchen utensils were in a poor state - frying pan burnt and buckled base, dodgy handle No tea towels provided Lack of bins in bathrooms, bedroom and no bin liner in the kitchen bin!
It was very handy for us to catch morning ferry to france. very good value.
only down side was no on site parking but that would not stop us using the hotel again.
Location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable apartment
Bed mattress could be better
Overall we enjoyed the stay and would recommend the Five Bells to others. When visiting this area again we will stay here. Lovely food in the evening and a good filling breakfast available in the morning. All reasonably priced.
On a personal note we found the bed a little too firm for our liking. Unfortunately the bus service is not a good service in this area in the evening but that is no fault of the hotel.
Staff very friendly and over all a good night good food only problem to catch ferry we missed breakfast
We have just had a very enjoyable family weekend at The Five Bells. The location is perfect for sightseeing, with Deal, Sandwich and Dover all very close by. The rooms were beautifully furnished and comfortable, the staff very welcoming and friendly and the food amazing.
Creaky bed but still comfortable.
Staff was friendly. We ordered a late supper & pints from the pub to eat in the apartment & they delivered across the patio. The food was good, as was the breakfast the next morning (I think the manager came in specifically for our breakfast order.) Apartment was a good size.
The apartment could have been cleaner. There were some cobwebs and the range hood had "clean me" written on it in the dust. Also, we wanted to wash our dishes but there was no washing up liquid or dishwasher tabs provided.
Excellent warm welcome from the two very attentive hosts. Very good beer and food served in easy going ambience between the bar and delightfully illuminated restaurant where wonderful crisp clean linen abound and also in the well appointed bedroom, with coffee and tea making facilities being very welcome. Very quiet night's sleep. Would use again without hesitation. Absolutely no problem with parking. Ideal for the ferries. See you again guys.
Nice location, value for money. Very clean apartment and friendly staff.
The apartment was warm, roomy and comfy. Lovely clean white sheets and towels. Had a great night.
Good value price friendly staff
Very warm welcome, hotel-esque rooms which were very clean. Great location for Deal (and Dover). Excellent value.
Nothing comes to mind, an excellent place to stay in this area of Kent. We will definitely go back.
Good value on-line price (better than Travelodge). Good value (if cholesterol boosting) cooked breakfast. Good location for sightseeing - we did Dover Castle, Walmer Castle, woodland, cliff and beach walks.
Great night stay for a young family of 5. Owners were very welcoming and accommodation was great value for money compared to other hotels.
Internet Access. Separate entrance for accommodation which allowed access at any time. Excellent food and service. Restaurant has crisp white tablecloths and napkins.

Proximity to main road
Comfortable, clean, friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced.
On street parking.
Nice helpful staff, typical English country pub, good pub grub. And breakfast. Excellent value
Room was a little small,parking a nightmare.
The apartment was clean and comfortable, it was nice having the living and bedroom areas on separate levels. A good self contained base to explore the surrounding area. Staff gave us a good welcome when we arrived.
It would have been nicer to have had curtains rather than blinds at the windows. A bin in the bathroom and kitchen would have been useful. As the pub is on a main road you could hear the traffic in the bedroom so it might not be suitable for a light sleeper.
The quality for the price is just great: power shower, lovely bed plenty of space, ultra helpful hosts. It is a jewel.
