The Fleece Inn  

A country type pub (old furniture, log fire,) well stocked and furnished with excellent food and comfortable rooms. We found the duvet too heavy / hot and the bed somwhat hard but otherwise no complaints. We used it as overnight accommodation going and returning from Scotland and it was ideal. Unfortunately there was a kitchen fire whilst we were in Scotland so no meals on our return trip but the staff conjured up an excellent plate of sandwiches and cooked breakfast in their flat the following morning. Our hosts and all the staff were extremely pleasant, we will use it again if going that way

Room fairly small if using for a long stay but well equipped

We enjoyed the comfort and style of our room and the excelland "belly busting" full English breakfast. We also had dinner in the hotel which was well cooked and presented with an excellent choice on the menu. the Staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar area had a lovely log fire and nice atmosphere. We were travelling from Spain via Plymouth and on up to Scotland so the Fleece Inn was a good two day break from driving but an easy trip in to Lancaster to do some gentle sightseeing.

We had some difficulty in locating the Inn but friendly locals put us on the right track!

Nothing at all. We felt completely 'fleeced' here. The name seems appropriate.

Our room was in need of a thorough clean. We found dusty corners and spiders' webs out of immediate sight. The room was directly above the bar, and the noise from customers in the bar was unbearable well into the evening. We asked immediately to move rooms, but were refused point blank, without apology. The mattress on the bed was dreadful, with springs sticking through. The food served for the evening meal was awful and extremely salty. (Was it because we had complained??). We were never asked by the serving staff if our meals were satisfactory. The breakfast fare was very ordinary. The staff were completely indifferent towards us. We never did get the wi-fi link to work, as we were given the wrong access code.

Good ambiance, excellent selection of real ales in the bar and very good home made game pie.

It was a lovely place and all the staff were extremely friendly. The food was amazing and it proved very good value for money.

A very clean, friendly and comfortable place to stay, good food with huge portions. Close to Lancaster University so an ideal place to stay whilst dropping off or visiting our daughter.

Staff very helpful even though busy. Room had everything provided for. Breakfast amazing!!

The place was very homely, the staff were incredible and really took extra care in making sure you were comfortable. Outside the beer garden was beautiful and I can only imagine in the summer how much fun it must be.

Shame we had 2 single beds.

I found the Fleece Inn to be a really good experience. The staff and locals were very friendly. Whilst my stay was short I felt that the Inn provided everything and was in easy reach of the local attractions. The menu had a good selection and was reasonably priced. A substantial breakfast was available also with a good choice.

The bed was hard Our room was overlooking a garage - rather than a view of the garden The bar area is very small since the tables for dining take up most of the room.

I liked this hotel as it was oldy woldy and I like properties that have the old beams and so forth.

Couldn't find fault with this Inn. I would stay here again if I was ever to travel to this neck of the woods.

Easily accessible to Lancaster and the University. Lovely area. We had a small double room which was clean. Very good breakfast.

Not far from the M6 motorway which was ideal as we were breaking a journey south from Scotland. It was recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed. Very good food in the evening and an excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Nice cosy bar.

I have visited The Fleece on many occasions for a drink or meal and always found it very pleasant and friendly. It seemed an obvious choice when looking for an over night stay in the area.

Made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived.Nothing was too much to ask for.Accomodation was excellant as well as the Breakfast. Ate in the restaurant a couple of nights and the service and food was very good.Would stay again and also recommend to family and friends

All the staff very welcoming and friendly. Lovely room with spacious bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and could not be faulted. Good traditional pub with very friendly locals. Would definatley stay again and highly recommend it.

Where to start! Sweet comfy room, beautifully appointed. Propper "old" pub downstairs with a great range of real ales. Huge helpings of great, locally sourced food; yum, we were stuffed! Hardly room for our spectacular breakfast but somehow we managed :) Seemed to be popular with the locals. Friendly, welcoming staff. All this and only half an hour from home. Just the perfect overnight country escape. We will definately be going back.

The staff are very polite, helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is of excellent quality and wonderfuly cooked. Portions for breakfast are more than plentiful whilst evening meals are appropriate for the amount being charged for a course.

I had been looking forward to a few drinks in the bar of an evening after our meal but it is quite small and only has comfortable seating for 8 people and a handful of stools plus the stools at the bar. Both nights we were there were weekend and the bar area - thankfully for the landlords- was extremely busy so we were unable to find anywhere to sit. A minor issue but it would have been nice to have spent some time in there.
