It's a boat
the half full bottle of massage oil in the bedroom
Location was great, really pretty canal boat, cosy with plenty of extras such as massage chair, books, games, DVD's and CD's. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.
The toilet facilities were a bit unusual but being on a boat understandable and there was a wash block if people are uncomfortable with it. WIFI didn't work which was hard with teenagers.
Original break away in lovely, cosy accommodation
Having to put toilet roll in the bin but understand that it's necessary
The massage chair was a nice touch. Also we were allowed to store our bags on board after checkout until our departure which was helpful and kind.
Like others have said the shower room and bunk area smell none too fragrant. The sofa bed is painfully uncomfortable - don't expect a good night's sleep.
Great location, clean boat and first in class customer service
Fun staying on the canal. Grocery store was very convenient. Boat was very well stocked and lots of nice touches.
Location, staff friendliness, uniqueness of the accommodation.
The idea of the boatel. It is in the heart of Edinburgh. It is very close to Tesco, cash machines, Main Street and 20 minutes walk to Edinburgh castle. It is warm.

Great location, fun being on a boat-something a bit different, very relaxing massage chair, comfortable beds in the double rooms. Friendly service from the "Skippers"
The smell of the septic tank under the child's bottom bunk.
It was unusual, and unique. Never stayed on a boat before. Kids excited. Great location for exploring Edinburgh. Walk to Castle and loads of restaurants, Tesco's close by. Nice to have kitchen facilities, two bedrooms and living space. Good selection of DVDs.
Bit cramped, buts that's boat living for you. Dont go if you suffer from Claustrophobia!
Bedding had small dead flies, other bed full of crumbs. Cleanliness was poor
Loved the houseboat overall, it had lots of facilities and the location was great. It was very cosy and comfortable and a unique experience.
Didn't like the toilet, only human waste to be flushed...toilet paper (after use) to be binned (not pleasant). The smell in the childrens bunk bed area wasn't too good.
Close to Edinburgh attractions, very functional and charming, staff always ready to help
