the food was excellent both dinner and breakfast. After dinner we finished our drinks in the very cosy bar in front of the fire. We had two rooms which were decorated to a high standard and very comfortable. We will return in the new year.
Rooms were nice, Very clean.
Evening meal took a long time to come and then was overcooked. Sent it back but all the owner/ manager could do was shrug her shoulders and blame it on ordering a well cooked steak as well so mine was "sitting around for too long." The 2nd steak took an age and everyone else had finished their food
Great food and choice of drinks, soft pillows and very clean, tidy room. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
I can't think of anything!
Great friendly atmosphere. Very welcoming.
Mattress could be more comfortable but, it's down to individual preference so not really a fault just being picky.
Loved been in an Italian restaurant the food was excellent.
Not much light in the bedroom, I only has a room with a small sky light.
- Lots of free parking - Amazing staff who are helpful and friendly - Great food and a nice fireplace in the pub - Very close to hiking trails, a local farm shop and the national Arboretum We would go back again
If you are a light sleeper bring an eye mask because the green emergency light in the room is super bright
Excellent! Very friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast.
The evening meal and service was excellent, we had a lovely evening. The italian meal and wine were gorgeous and the olives the biggest I have seen were from Italy & the best I had ever had.
The breakfast room seemed alittle cramped with no window. I cannot comment on the breakfast because we left early.
Brilliant restaurant serving high class Italian food, exceptional, food and service. The staff were very helpful:)
The hotel had a nice Italian restaurant.
To be told shower and bath when in reality it was bath with shower over. Because of my disability I could not have a shower
Room size was good and room very quiet. Facilities also were excellent. Great value for money and a super breakfast - try the Italian omelette! and the coffee! Nothing not to like. Well done all round - many thanks.
Great food and good ale Welcoming staff and locals
Basic bedroom accommodation
Comfortable clean accommodation. Very helpful staff and excellent restaurant
Comfortable bar with real fire, excellent Italian food. Friendly, efficient service. A real treat. Good size bedrooms. Near the Cotswold Way - a superb base.
Friendly, efficient, considerate. Well looked after during our 2 night stay. A lovely clean room and excellent food.
Nothing at all
Very comfortable beds.
Food was good
Bathroom was fair restraint prices whare high no tv in room
Lovely Italian Omlette for breakfast and excellent coffee
Convenient for travel to the Cotswolds, Bath and to and from London on the M4 Excellent food and helpful cheerful staff
Very quiet location
Room decor was oppressive with no windows
Staff were really friendly, we took our dog and they made all of us feel very welcome. The food is amazing.
The only criticism I have is that the bath was a bit slippery and could do with a rubber mat to make showering a bit safer.
Friendly helpful owners/staff attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Restaurant attached to pub was ideal as the Menu and quality of the food was first class.
The wifi was only just adequate and seemed very slow at times but could live without technology.
The full English breakfast was ample and delicious.
I'd fault the Fox Inn for the very squeaky bed; the fact that breakfast was not served until 8.30 am; the lack of a television in the room; and the bar and restaurant being closed on the Monday night we stayed (not advertised on the hotel's website).
When we arrived at The Fox Inn, Hawkesbury at the end of a day's walk, around 5pm, the place was deserted. I had to telephone and wait. A hotel worker, not the owner and not a local, appeared and led us up a flight of stairs with very dirty carpet and let us into the "family room". (We are senior adults walking the Cotswold Way with an adult daughter.) The room was unattractively decorated with a view over the car park and right outside the door was a dining area. The bathroom door did not close - it had no latch let alone a lock. We sat on the beds and looked around and decided we felt very uncomfortable. The room was unfriendly and frankly not very clean. We made a joint decision to leave there and then. Luckily, we found an excellent hotel (Egypt Mills) in nearby Nailsworth and I phoned The Fox Inn to say we were not returning and asked if I could get a refund. The girl told us she understood and would do what she could to help but as we had prepaid Booking.com there was little she could do. The room rate was £102 and I received a refund of £30. So we were £70 out of pocket on top of a bad experience. It was the worst experience of the holiday.
