Score from 199 reviews Very good
Quirky, delightful bedroom.
Nowhere to sit and relax apart from our room which, luckily, was large and comfortable.
Staff do their best and are very helpful Good sized room .
Staff do their best but seems under staffed, one person running to serve in the bar the trying to serve in the resturant makes it all feel a little hectic.
Nice location, welcoming wood fire in dining room. Good sized comfortable bedroom. Plenty of hot water. Interesting menu, nicely cooked tasty food.
Only place to get wifi was in the bar. Poor reception elsewhere.
The deco of its restaurant
from the receptionist to the bar and restaurant staff was extremely friendly and catered for all our needs and more. The food was amazing, definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely be returning
The only down side was the lighting in the bathroom was poor as shaver light and spotlight over the bath was out and the towel radiator didn't work leaving the bathroom cold. we were given a plug in heater to help with this problem.
This place is awesome! If you love Buildings with charm and character then this the place is for you!! The staff here truly are the best we have ever dealt with, they are cheerful, professional and really do make you feel welcome from beginning to end. The private car-parking space is enormous and the location is good too just off the main A40 from Cheltenham. Rooms are clean and very comfortable with every extra required. We had dinner at the Hotel on one evening of our stay and it really was something special, not cheap but worth every penny. (the dining room décor/style is a bit odd and the room is a touch cold but hey ho..). The Full English is gorgeous..probably the tastiest and most tidy we've had. The open fire in the bar area certainly added to the charm, especially on a particularly cold evening and, we had our Breakfast in front of it too!!Try not to forget that this Building is over a thousand years old and therefor it isn't perfect, it does creak a bit and some parts of the interior may be rough around the edges but look past this and you will love the place just as much as we did.
Age of the Mill & excellent surroundings beautiful. Units were excellent, meals average although breakfast was good.
Dinner meals too expensive and very little variety. Other guest advised us not to eat there !! Staff had not knowledge of the Mill, history or local area.
Good setting, friendly helpful service, nig comfortable bed.
Mould in bathroom, toilet hadnt been properly cleaned. single glazed metal framed window in bathroom. overall, could do with an update. Evening meal ok but nothing to write home about.
Nice location and a gorgeous room which was clean and comfortable. Staff polite, and breakfast was lovely.
booking.com stated no surcharge for pets. When i arrived i was expected to pay a £10 surcharge for my dog. Although once i had shown the staff the website they did not charge me.
Service apart from check in was good.
The Internet was dropping out consistently.
We booked the room at reasonably short notice and the evening staff were very helpful and polite. Nice old building in lovely grounds Comfortable bed
There was a lovely, light conservatory as part of the dining area but we were made to have our breakfast in a dark, cramped part of the room. We weren't offered tea with our breakfast, only coffee and there was no sugar. We were brought the wrong breakfast items and the food we were given was of poor quality. However the bacon was nice...
The hotel is a beautiful building and the gardens and the setting is lovely. The staff were helpful, efficient, courteous and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal was very good; tasty and beautifully presented. The potted plants in the restaurant/conservatory and the new secluded seating was much more conducive than the previous arrangement! The crisp, white table cloths and napkins were very welcome; cleanliness is obviously a priority now! I had the salmon which was very nice and it was cooked to perfection. I didn't need the extra salt crystals that had been sprinkled on top, but they did look pretty! The chef offered me mashed potato, instead of the chips, as the chips had been fried in the same oil as batter, which had wheat in it. I am not a great mash lover but it was very nice, all the same. The limon cillo and lemon sorbet was LOVELY but quite large, so my husband helped to finish it off for me! He had 'succulent' chicken kiev, followed by ice-cream, which he said was 'lovely'. Our bedroom was fine (number 9), it was up a couple of flights of stairs but the receptionist offered to help with our cases. The hotel was nice and quiet. (It was a better room for us than the one we stayed in previously, on the ground floor as the smokers had congregated by the window and we got their smoke coming in through the window.) The heated towel-rail and heaters soon warmed up the room and en-suite. There were plenty of lovely, fluffy, white towels and the toiletries were refreshing. The hospitality tray was well stocked. The wi-fi worked well and it was free. I was pleased there was a hair-dryer as the weather had turned colder. I was very grateful for the good stay as I was going to an interview for a job and all was calm, swift and efficient, on check out as well.
The hotel sign was not illuminated so we over-shot, at first, when we arrived. There are a few pot-holes in the drive so drive carefully and slowly, on your approach, especially if it is dark. It wasn't clear where to park an arrow or sign would be good for people arriving after dark. Our en-suite was a bit 'tired' looking and there were a few stray hairs around the bath... but they could have just been the cleaner's hair -and at least we had a bath! The ceiling height was OK for us but it could be a problem for tall people trying to take a shower... The window frames could do with replacing; I think they were letting in quite a lot of cold air. It was quite chilly when we came up to our room, after dinner. There was only one set of toiletries and there were no tooth- mugs, in the en-suite. Luckily, my husband had brought his own toiletries. The TV remote control wasn't the right one for the TV but, as my husband knows about these sorts of things, it wasn't a problem for us. The bedside lamp flickered a bit when you plugged other electrical equipment into sockets or walked near it. Again, a minor issue. The milk curdled at breakfast, when I put hot tea on to it... it wasn't really a problem as I noticed and the waitress apologised and replaced it, checking with us that the new jug of milk was OK, later. I wasn't too sure about the choice of music at breakfast... was it Motown? Not to my taste anyway! Another very small thing!
food good lovely setting comfy bed
above bar very noisy guests allowed to stay drinking until1.30am leaving me tired!!! peeling paint, peeling wallpaper, property felt unloved and a bit mishap the inside certainly did not wow like the outside.
Touuring in England, we were looking for charm. Frogmore has lots of charm and is located in a rural setting, to our liking. Food was great and was the price.
Beautiful food, quirky building, lovely staff.
No lunchtime menu, although we understand that this is being developed in the near future.
Lovely surroundings and great room. We attended a family wedding which was a perfect setting.
The staff weren't attentive, drinks were very expensive and they ran out of beer before the evening!
the look of the property
annex rooms need a little updateing
Great location and beautiful historic buildings. Marco chain gives good value and has selected Inns in interesting places.
A bit more attention to maintenance will be essential to keep this going in an old building.
Lovely building Very good quality towels good beds.
-NO INTERNET CONNECTION IN THE ROOM! - Big area around the building, but no garden, only parking spaces, just in front the lovely building. - No touristics informations for the Costwolds area - Self service at the bar: you have to order and bring yourself your drinks at your table! - 1 choice of Breakfast, no real buffet - Ultra small bathroom - Room with a view on a wall
Great looking Inn.Lovely food. Nice looking, comfortable room.
Minor problems like, bedside lamp not working, shaver light not working.small leak from hand basin. No toast offered at breakfast?(saving money Marco?).we did not complain about the problems,as it was a last minute, one night stay.Interior requires bringing back up to the standard of the site photo's.
Lovely location , No Wi-fi in rooms . food excellent , staff very polite , helpful.
No Wi-fi in rooms Need a couple of extra staff for meal service .
Having visited the Frogmill before we were returning with overseas visitors. As a building the Frogmill is historic and appealing, offering considerable comfort within its partly ancient walls.
Small failures in both bedrooms with fused lights. The dinner menu was not quite as attractive as the one in January which was part of an inclusive room deal. Is it always wise to return.??
The country feel Value for money
The man snoring extremely loudly. The wedding party making lots of noise until gone 1am
Everybody was very helpful and pleasant. Loved the character of the hotel. Loved every minute we were there.
The only disappointment we had was the variety of the dinner menu. Not much to choose from but from saying this the food we had was excellent.
