No reception staff at 8.30pm. Instead, a barman who barely acknowledged us and gave us keys to a basic room, when we'd booked a deluxe, and didn't mention it. Another barman who, when we asked for a table for dinner at 9pm, told us that that would be impossible because we hadn't booked. A pie that was a watery concoction of chicken and leeks, and wine served in a nasty short glass, filled right to the top. A cheaply appointed bedroom/ensuite, in the stable block, not the main house. More poor service at breakfast: no clean tables, a depleted buffet at 8.50am (8-10am service), 35min just to get tea and toast, and a filthy tea cup. Never again and enough to make me write this review. Generally unprofessional or, more likely, untrained staff. And Marco Pierre White puts his name to this!
A delightful-looking property. Interested to find gulls eggs on the dinner menu.
