Free parking Good breakfast
Noise from the main road
a very comfortable and quiet hotel. Easy access to the city centre by bus. Hearty cooked breakfast a must, with friendly helpful waiters.
We stayed in room 212, electric socket under the mirror broken I think this had been reported previously, also some of the bathroom fixtures were loose. could have done with a small hand towel.
Looks very good, location excellent and breakfast could not be faulted.
A lot of noise from the main road, faults in the room and mediocre shower. All of which is a great pity as a very attractive modern hotel in a good location which should be excellent for the price.
nice breakfast effort; VERY CLEAN.
too noisy with traffic
location, breakfast, friendly staff good shower
no major problems
Clean, well presented, pleasant environment. Bus stop outside and a £4 day rider ticket was a real bonus. The 2 tickets we bought covered all our sight seeing needs.
A very hard bed and a shoe box size room! We wanted to relax on our 1st evening but there was only 1 chair which was not in a convenient place for the TV. The beds were not suitable for a relaxed evening in front of the TV.
Convenient location. Cleanliness. Breakfasts.
Rooms are rather small. Could be quite noisy at night.
Safe parking Bus stop just outside Excellent breakfast
Double glazed but still some traffic noise
staff are really funny and friendly. they helped in fixing a heating issue
it's still quite noisy. if you are facing the street or are near the elevator better bring earplugs
We were looking for a comfortable, well located hotel as a base for our visit to Oxford with some friends. What we found was the Galaxie which exceeded our expectations. Everything from the excellent location to the warm welcome and general ambience of the hotel together with very attentive and friendly staff endorsed our decision to stay here! Would recommend to anyone looking for well located, well run high quality accommodation in Oxford.
Whilst our room was well furnished with an excellent bathroom it was a little on the small side which could be a problem if your stay was for more than a few days
I have stayed at The Galaxie twice and on both occasions have found the staff to be very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was also very nice and there were a good selection of healthy choices if you didn't want a cooked breakfast. It is generally a very nice place to stay and I will stay again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Some of the deluxe single rooms were on the small side, but all were well decorated and equipped , with a nice bathroom. The free bottled water was a nice touch. On site parking, and close to the centre of the city, by foot or bus.
Car parking available,on good bus route into town, staff very friendly
Breakfast finishes to early,9.00am on Sunday
Breakfast was ace.
Car park was a bit tight. If its full its a struggle to squeeze in.
Lovely house converted to hotel, fabulous buffet breakfast. The reception lady was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were immaculate
The first room we were given was extremely small we asked to change rooms and were given a much larger room with no drama.
Reasonable prices in a very expensive city. Located out of town but many bus routes available. Rooms and bed are OK.
The staff was very kind and helpful. We didn't like one of our rooms so we asked to change it. The next day when we got back to the hotel in the evening we found out that not only had the room been changed to a much better one, all of our stuff were transferred and neatly organized in the new room as well - top notch service. WiFi was very good. (New) Rooms were nice and quiet, albeit a bit small. Breakfast was a traditional English breakfast with a solid additional variety. Personally, I wished there were more vegetables.
(One) Room design was a bit strange, at least to my taste. A shower with a transparent glass door in the middle of the room (in front of the bed). Location is fine but not great. It's a 15-20 minute walk from the city center. On the other hand, there's a bus stop right next to the hotel if you're willing to pay the hefty (in my opinion) public transportation fees.
Breakfast n the garden view
The room was untidy when I checked in. Not double glazed windows hence lot of noice till 11 pm. Bed was a make shift sort of not comfy at all. Dint had proper sleep for both the nights stayed. With the heavy traffic noice it was not comfortable. Not worth for the money I have paid.
The excellent and tempting breakfast selection. The fact that there is a bus stop outside the hotel in the direction of the city centre. The friendly staff, owners personal attention, large comfortable bedroom an double bed. Very enjoyable stay.
Very friendly and helpful staff Modern comfortable room Parking available
Shower door was broken Wifi signal a little intermittent
Immaculate hotel with friendly staff
Friendly and helpful staff, good car parking, decoration of main areas clean and bright. All areas clean and well maintained. Good breakfast but breakfast time should be extended particularly at weekends when guests may want to take it easy in the morning - breakfast serving finishes at 9am.
Room at the front on the main road and noisy all night even with windows closed. Old tatty blinds to windows, unable to open or roll them up
Friendly/helpful staff. Great that we could leave our car behind after check-out to do our hop-in/hop-off day tour of Oxford.
No hand towels
Clean room, good shower. We were welcomed although told everything was lovely, the room, the breakfast ..which was a little strange. The cleaning staff appeared the most friendly.
We did not expect that Sunday morning breakfast would only be available until 9am. Service in the breakfast room was poor, we were left to work it out for ourselves and were left with a table of used crockery as no one cleared up during the time we were there.
