Welcome pets, good size room, food was good
Room was very hot, shower ramen hot and cold
Friendly.Very good food
Value for money was good
The rooms were a bit tired and outdated
Staff attitude. Location. Off road parking & the grape vine.
Thin walls! Baby in next room. Ah well.
Easy parking, walking distance to town centre
Food was expensive
Booking .com did not pass on the reservation. They had no idea we were coming
Top marks for gorgeous, huge bath towels. The bed was comfortable, but would have benefited from a couple more pillows. Good location for walking into Stamford. Breakfast room is light and airy, breakfast was pretty good. Dining room was pleasant and probably comes into it's own in the summer. My dinner was good.
Very old-fashioned and slightly shabby. The brown canopy on my four-poster was more yuck than wow. Poor lighting didn't enhance my room or the public areas. My room wasn't very clean (dirty skirting boards, etc), and the tea making space was poorly thought out. The lead on the kettle was so short that I had to put the kettle on a chair in order to reach a plug. The shower was so low I had to bend to get under it and I'm 5'4".
In an perfect location and nice large car park. Breakfast excellent and staff efficient and friendly. Room very comfortable. We would stay there again if we go back to Stamford.
Better shower would be good.
location - walking distance to the town centre & local attractions off street car parking very good restaurant helpful staff comfortable bed large room & bathroom
bathroom did have some mouldy grout in the wall tiles but due to age, the whole room was clean & tidy
Centrally located, good car parking facilities round the back, good bed, good breakfast
The hotel needs a makeover and a thorough spring clean. The bathroom was clean but needs updating. They should dispense with the quite grubby carpets going up the stairs and near the reception, improve the reception area and modernise the landing and bedrooms without taking away the charm of the house.More wood and clean fresh white paint would be a great improvement.
We walked out the door straight up a street to a beautiful walk to Burghley House. Loved the location and the hotel. Burghley was well worth the trip. Stamford is a taxi ride from the Peterborough station from London. Taxi is about. 30 pounds each way.
The taxi cost was more than we thought was reasonable. Try to negotiate which we didn't.
We got married there 11 years ago. at the time it was classy and charming. Now the paint work and general decor is tired. they put us up in the bridal suite which should have been a lovely memory. it wasnt. the four poster bed was tiny, uncomfortable and the top surround rickety to say the least! the bathroom extremely tired. old colored suite. peeling paint and water damage around the bath.the staff were few and far between and had no time to even smile. Most wore nurses uniforms which just isnt nice in a hotel, it isnt a nursing home! Also the rose arch in the garden has gone. It was a focal point for our wedding photos. Not the same without it.We were very disappointed, didnt risk eating in the restaurant in the evening we went into town. We wouldnt stay again.they need to sort it out.
Location and gardens were excellent. Staff could not be faulted. Restaurant food and breakfast excellent.
Room was very "tired" and in need of up dating, especially the bathroom. Our room had an adjoining door to the next room (behind the wardrobe), could hear next doors TV clearly.
Facility to book in early Helpful staff On-line requests were actioned
Bathroom needs a make-over. Clean, but tired looking
Flexibility of staff Location Price Conservatory
Decor a hit dated Seemed a little understaffed in places
Big bedroom Good sized bathroom Storage in the room Free parking Location
Uncomfortable beds Breakfast not great - burnt toast/egg shell in scrambled eggs
The Staff...good parking nice garden.good breakfast.
Didn't like our room..4 poster bed !
Lovely hotel with helpful staff, situated perfectly for Stamford and Burleigh House. Secure parking and minutes walk from centre of town.
Good food, excellent bar with a very dignified malt selection. The gardens were a delight, so nice to see grapes on the vines.
Comfortable room Dog friendly Great breakfast
Location, value, garden, breakfast
old fashioned bathroom and décor, lack of knowledge of local area of the staff, no wifi in our room (no. 4), although there was wifi in places in the hotel
Our room was comfortable, clean and cool which was good as it was a hot weekend. Tea and coffee making facilities were good. We enjoyed the breakfasts and service was good.
The bathroom needed a bit of a makeover. It was old-fashioned and had seen better days. The towel rail nearly came off the wall! That said, it was adequate and the towels were fluffy and white.
Old world charm, friendly staff; cracking breakfast.
The hotel is situated close to Stamford Waiting staff were friendly
I didn't like the following: - Dated and needs renovation - Smelly old carpet in the common areas that at the least needs steam cleaning - Uncomfortable bed which had a dip in it Mouldy shower/bath conversion with no shower pressure - Old rancid butter left out at breakfast which smelt terrible - Dated decor - Price. I have stayed in hostels that were cleaner and 1/4 of the price
