Bathroom very much in need of attention and update.
The location was great within easy walking distance of the town centre and with Burghley Park across the road. The breakfast was first rate and the Staff friendly and helpful.
The beds (twin) were not very comfortable.
Location is really good and the staff were very friendly. The room was perfectly adequate for our single night. Breakfast was excellent! We thougherly enjoyed it. All in all a good hotel but we felt a bit over priced.
Bathroom needs updating, very old fashioned and lots of mildew around shower sealant and tiles, shower a bit hard to get to the right temperature and shower screen didn't stop the water from flooding the floor!
Location very good , staff very pleasant
The room was very outdated and needed refurbishment of everything, the pictures , furniture and curtains, carpet , bathroom tiles.
Nice room and friendly staff.
A decent bar would have been a plus.
Comfortable bed and quiet so had good nights sleep. Lovely meal on Friday but we were on our own.
Mould in the bathroom grouting and edge tiles was a let down especially when the bedroom was so nice. Was concerned when the card reader for payment wouldn't work twice, but ok in the end.
Service, location and food. Charming restaurant overlooking a very pretty garden. I would visit again but only if I could have a better bedroom.
Bedroom and bathroom were very tired and shabby - Bed uncomfortable with terrible pillows. Carpet in entrance and stairs very grubby.
The staff where all very helpful and polite. Food excellent even though we only had breakfast had plenty and as much of everything you wanted. Would stay again.
My room was far too hot even with radioators turned off the one in the bedroom came on and i could open the window due to it being a sash window it didn't stay open. This is the only downside i could say about the hotel.
The food was very good & nice size portions
Bedroom & Bathroom need perking up
Location Parking Breakfast Staff
Bedroom outdated Bathroom circa 1970 No opening windows
Comfortable bed. Plain but good food at one dinner and breakfast.
A very long walk to our room either up and down stairs and along long corridors or via the extensive garden area - pleasant if not raining. Taps fell off while one of us was having a shower! Whole place seems tired and needs maintenance.
Food, very high standard, easy atmosphere charming staff.
Entrance to adequate car park a bit tight.
Welcome pets, good size room, food was good
Room was very hot, shower ramen hot and cold
Friendly.Very good food
Value for money was good
The rooms were a bit tired and outdated
Staff attitude. Location. Off road parking & the grape vine.
Thin walls! Baby in next room. Ah well.
Easy parking, walking distance to town centre
Food was expensive
Booking .com did not pass on the reservation. They had no idea we were coming
Top marks for gorgeous, huge bath towels. The bed was comfortable, but would have benefited from a couple more pillows. Good location for walking into Stamford. Breakfast room is light and airy, breakfast was pretty good. Dining room was pleasant and probably comes into it's own in the summer. My dinner was good.
Very old-fashioned and slightly shabby. The brown canopy on my four-poster was more yuck than wow. Poor lighting didn't enhance my room or the public areas. My room wasn't very clean (dirty skirting boards, etc), and the tea making space was poorly thought out. The lead on the kettle was so short that I had to put the kettle on a chair in order to reach a plug. The shower was so low I had to bend to get under it and I'm 5'4".
In an perfect location and nice large car park. Breakfast excellent and staff efficient and friendly. Room very comfortable. We would stay there again if we go back to Stamford.
Better shower would be good.
location - walking distance to the town centre & local attractions off street car parking very good restaurant helpful staff comfortable bed large room & bathroom
bathroom did have some mouldy grout in the wall tiles but due to age, the whole room was clean & tidy
Centrally located, good car parking facilities round the back, good bed, good breakfast
The hotel needs a makeover and a thorough spring clean. The bathroom was clean but needs updating. They should dispense with the quite grubby carpets going up the stairs and near the reception, improve the reception area and modernise the landing and bedrooms without taking away the charm of the house.More wood and clean fresh white paint would be a great improvement.
We walked out the door straight up a street to a beautiful walk to Burghley House. Loved the location and the hotel. Burghley was well worth the trip. Stamford is a taxi ride from the Peterborough station from London. Taxi is about. 30 pounds each way.
The taxi cost was more than we thought was reasonable. Try to negotiate which we didn't.
We got married there 11 years ago. at the time it was classy and charming. Now the paint work and general decor is tired. they put us up in the bridal suite which should have been a lovely memory. it wasnt. the four poster bed was tiny, uncomfortable and the top surround rickety to say the least! the bathroom extremely tired. old colored suite. peeling paint and water damage around the bath.the staff were few and far between and had no time to even smile. Most wore nurses uniforms which just isnt nice in a hotel, it isnt a nursing home! Also the rose arch in the garden has gone. It was a focal point for our wedding photos. Not the same without it.We were very disappointed, didnt risk eating in the restaurant in the evening we went into town. We wouldnt stay again.they need to sort it out.
