Polite staff, Beautiful room with a four poster bed. great cooked breakfast with a huge selection.
staff, breakfast , garden, room
the shower wasn't long enough...hot water out of the cold water tap
Wifi didn't work in the bedroom and room was cold.
Staff were pleasant, location was very central.
décor and style of rooms were more in line with what one would expect to find in a hostel, bedding and carpet very dated. bathrooms very dated and no power shower.
Staff were very friendly. The food at the party was excellent.
Very very dated and desperate for a refurb ! I would visit but definitely not stay again. There is an odour of staleness
Wifi worked in the room.
Dated interiors of rooms and reception. Open door from kitchens into main entrance lobby and staircase means the whole place is filled with old food smells.Cream carpets in entrance, stairs and landings are heavily stained and threadbare in places. Unusually thin toilet paper. Breakfast spoilt by very strong acrid cleaning smell overwhelming the breakfast area. Pleasant staff but no one showed us our room or helped with our luggage. We were surprised when we went out to be asked to take our front door keys with us as they were going to lock the front door at 9pm. Serious makeover needed.
Our room had everything you could want but was slightly more pricey than a nearby hotel that had recently been refurbished.
As it was new years eve there was only one man on reception and he was multi tasking, covering reception, bar man, answering the telephone and serving dinner. He was brilliant and was cheerful and helpful, getting us a taxi new years eve at short notice.Someone didn't turn up New. Years Day so he carried on serving breakfast and settling accounts.Everyone needs employees like this man, I hope they are paying him well!
location is convenient (few minutes walk into town but far enough away for a peaceful stay. Staff very professional, courteous and friendly. Breakfasts well balanced with plenty of choice.Garden lovely when able to sit out.
Location good, had good charter and friendly staff.
Whole hotel in dire need of facelift, bed uncomfortable and headboard grubby and very worn; heating came on at 5pm, too late for december evenings.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Dinner and breakfast food was tasty and good portions. The bed we stayed in was large and very comfortable. Great night's sleep.
Could do with more staff. Hotel is a little on the shabby side. Breakfast buffet table ran out very quickly of supplies.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful
Location, building, breakfast
The bed was like a rock as were the pillows, plus the floor creaked so much, I was worried it would collapse
Late check out on Sunday followed by Sunday lunch. Great food. Peaceful location, a short walk from town centre. Beautiful gardens. Friendly staff.
Staff Decor Requested late check out, which was agreed to, then called while sleeping to say that it was no longer possible and to vacate room in 20 minutes. Then told at reception that it was so they didn't have to 'pay housekeeping to hang around just for you'. Dont agree to it then - terrible customer service!
Location. Comfortable over night stay. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Good breakfast.
bathroom could do with a redecoration.
location and the lovely cooked breakfast and helpful staff
Hotel is in need of tlc and the central heating wasnt working effectively in our bedroom and needs sorting out .
Bathroom very much in need of attention and update.
The location was great within easy walking distance of the town centre and with Burghley Park across the road. The breakfast was first rate and the Staff friendly and helpful.
The beds (twin) were not very comfortable.
Location is really good and the staff were very friendly. The room was perfectly adequate for our single night. Breakfast was excellent! We thougherly enjoyed it. All in all a good hotel but we felt a bit over priced.
Bathroom needs updating, very old fashioned and lots of mildew around shower sealant and tiles, shower a bit hard to get to the right temperature and shower screen didn't stop the water from flooding the floor!
Location very good , staff very pleasant
The room was very outdated and needed refurbishment of everything, the pictures , furniture and curtains, carpet , bathroom tiles.
Nice room and friendly staff.
A decent bar would have been a plus.
Comfortable bed and quiet so had good nights sleep. Lovely meal on Friday but we were on our own.
Mould in the bathroom grouting and edge tiles was a let down especially when the bedroom was so nice. Was concerned when the card reader for payment wouldn't work twice, but ok in the end.
