The Garden House InnFramwellgate Peth, Durham, DH1 4NQ (Show map)
Very good,
Score from 155 reviews
“ My family and I were more than pleased with our stay at the Garden House Inn. From my very first contact with the staff, they were genuinely friendly and helpful. The Inn is newly refurbished, nicely decorated, very comfortable and kept very clean. The breakfasts were perfect and the Fish and Chips were superb. Everything about our stay was wonderful, but I especially deeply appreciated how warm the entire staff was. Jimmy was the perfect host! ”

Friendliness and comfort. The food was excellent and good value for money. 3 slight niggles for room 6. The shower was difficult to get to comfortable temp. The TV would freeze every few seconds. The bathroom lock can only be opened from outside the bathroom!

Always look for a place where the locals go? Me too and this is it! Wonderful welcome, cosy guest room, great food at affordable prices. I loved eating in the pub by the fire. Will definitely be back, warm friendly atmosphere, well situated and the boss will fill up your coffee cup in the morning.

Staff really helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. Evening meal on Saturday was excellent. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. Just disappointed that hot meals were not available on Sunday evenings after 6pm.

Room modern, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Had a room above the bar, but very quiet. Food lovely. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Durham Stayed in bad weather so it would have been helpful if ice was cleared from entrance and pavement outside

Rooms were pleasant, clean, airy and well appointed. Lovely breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. Corridors were shabby - need decorating. Bed was towards the end of its life - not very comfortable.

The inn itself is lovely with comfortable rooms and a very nice bar with excellent food. The owner and staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed and we intend to return.

We stayed at the Garden House on Saturday night and our stay was amazing!! The room was nicely decorated, spacious and had everything we needed. But what made our stay so nice was the staff and the service that we received. The staff couldn't have been any friendlier and they went out of there way to make us feel welcome especially the owner Adrian! We also ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding, the best lamb I have ever eaten in fact!!! There is no doubt the next time we visit Durham we will be staying at The Garden House. Thanks for making our stay so pleasurable!!

charming, lovely staff, and above a nice pub establishment and with a nice breakfast spread The price was a little high considering the grade of accomodation- the bed was old and sagging in the middle and the shower lacked water pressure and temperature control. It wouldn't take much to upgrade these, and then the price would be easily justifiable.

The service was extremely good and staff were very approachable. A very nice layout of the building and the accommodation, whilst a little cold and noisy, was good. A very pleasant place to stay. Rooms need to be sound and weather proofed more and some fittings were loose.
