Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food very good. Location excellent. Loved the historical element of the George.
The hotel needs a lot of care and attention. Don't spoil it with modern designs but please re-decorate and spruce it all up. Beautiful place needs cherishing.
Staff were more friendly and cheerful than I would have expected from people who, no doubt, have to deal with a lot of complaints. Breakfast was pretty OK (apart from the hair and lack of drinking Glasses)
Drab, Old, tired, dirty, smelled, mouldy, TV didn't work, no phone, hair in food. Just felt uncomfortable from start to finish. Same price as Premier Inn a Mile or so away and there's just no comparison.
The staff were friendly and efficient, our original room was satisfactory... Clean and spacious but the hot water wasn't working so reception gave us an alternative room which was huge and absolutely fab! We were delighted. It was clean and comfortable!
The decor is definitely a little tired but on the whole it was good... One thing which was awkward is that due to a wedding party we were delayed in being able to exit the hotel because the bride and groom were having photos and we felt shy to disrupt proceedings! Apparently the second exit so had a function so we couldn't use it!
The room had a nice spacious en-suite bathroom. It was clean and tidy and had tea and coffee facilities.
The old springy uncomfrtable mattress that was years old triggered my back pain.
Hotel is beautiful and full of colour and nice features. Room was massive and very warm which is important for me. Excellent service and helpful staff . Most positive experience.
Friendly helpful staff very clean tea & coffee, free Wi fi, hairdryer, iron & ironing board
No hot water in bathroom. Soon rectified by staff. Hotel looking tired and dated and in need of refurbishment.
Friendly staff relaxed atmosphere and the breakfast
The area is run down
warm, clean sheets an room
good location, friendly staff, big rooms and hot shower. Breakfast is really nice and plentiful.
decor has seen better days, but not a major problem, the smaller fold out beds in the famliy room are uncomfortable
The staff were extremley courteious and welcoming. The food was gorgeous yes it needs a little paint lift but everything else was perfect so it didnt matter .
This lace does not deserve bad reviews well worth a visit.
Friendly staff. Good location
Comfortable beds and very clean.
Parking is a nightmare, the hotel car park is very small and if you park on the road outside the hotel you have to go out at 9am the next day to by another parking ticket for your car. The hotel needs to organise parking permits for hotel residents. Although the hotel was clean it was very dated.
Location, excellent staff.
Small room and awful shower.
How close it was to where i was going on the evening and how helpfull the staff were.
How all the stair carpets look worn and my shower was broken but if no-one reported it i can't blame the hotel
The bed was like sleeping On bricks the lock broke so we couldn't get back in then the woman put us in a room with single beds when we had a double room And they didn't even bother to give us a refund they've all been so rude would never stay there again
My room was comfortable enough, being adequate for a single person. The shower was excellent and the bed comfortable, no problem with sleeping. The breakfasts were superb in quality and choice as was the evening meal with my two guests on the first day of my stay. The service by the staff was first class, being polite and efficient. All in all an enjoyable stay and I would choose to stay there again if the need arose in the future.
The general decor could do with brightening up a bit, beginning to look a bit dated. Car parking very limited. The central heating went off on the Saturday morning which left the dining area a little on the chilly side.
The location of the hotel for convenience visiting family. The helpful and friendly staff
The rooms are looking tired and in need of a refurb. The whole hotel needs upgrading, looking tired and shabby.
Not bad n really nice
The food was good for the price along with the beds.... Really comfy
Room was a little tired looking... Cracked paint work and ripped wall paper
Wedding Reception on. Very noisy until 3 AM. Heating in room went off so rather cold.
Very pleasant lady receptionist. The full English breakfast was great and my cappuccino coffee was very welcome compared to the over brewed stuff I have experienced in much higher quality hotels. Free parking and free wifi - very good value for £45.
the oddest layout of a hotel with narrow corridors and very odd layout
Poor quality bed. No remote for tv. Paint flaking off walls. Very small room for a double with no hanging space.
Customer service from the staff was very good. While the hotel is showing signs of wear, it was clean.
Wifi wasn't reliable in the room. Had to switch rooms so if the hotel is full this could be a problem. However, I'm finding that unreliable Wifi is an issue in many hotels, which really isn't acceptable. Wifi isn't a new thing, and hotels must increase capacity to cope with phones/laptops.
Staff, breakfast and evening meal
Streetlight shining into bedroom
Friendly staff Helpful staff, good information Very accomodating and understanding of my son's autistic quirkiness. Rooms were warm, clean, comfortable with everything we needed We would come again.
The one way system! Being a visitor to the area, I could see the hotel but took three goes to park near it!
