Score from 823 reviews Very good
My room was comfortable enough, being adequate for a single person. The shower was excellent and the bed comfortable, no problem with sleeping. The breakfasts were superb in quality and choice as was the evening meal with my two guests on the first day of my stay. The service by the staff was first class, being polite and efficient. All in all an enjoyable stay and I would choose to stay there again if the need arose in the future.
The general decor could do with brightening up a bit, beginning to look a bit dated. Car parking very limited. The central heating went off on the Saturday morning which left the dining area a little on the chilly side.
The location of the hotel for convenience visiting family. The helpful and friendly staff
The rooms are looking tired and in need of a refurb. The whole hotel needs upgrading, looking tired and shabby.
Not bad n really nice
The food was good for the price along with the beds.... Really comfy
Room was a little tired looking... Cracked paint work and ripped wall paper
Wedding Reception on. Very noisy until 3 AM. Heating in room went off so rather cold.
Very pleasant lady receptionist. The full English breakfast was great and my cappuccino coffee was very welcome compared to the over brewed stuff I have experienced in much higher quality hotels. Free parking and free wifi - very good value for £45.
the oddest layout of a hotel with narrow corridors and very odd layout
Poor quality bed. No remote for tv. Paint flaking off walls. Very small room for a double with no hanging space.
Customer service from the staff was very good. While the hotel is showing signs of wear, it was clean.
Wifi wasn't reliable in the room. Had to switch rooms so if the hotel is full this could be a problem. However, I'm finding that unreliable Wifi is an issue in many hotels, which really isn't acceptable. Wifi isn't a new thing, and hotels must increase capacity to cope with phones/laptops.
Staff, breakfast and evening meal
Streetlight shining into bedroom
Friendly staff Helpful staff, good information Very accomodating and understanding of my son's autistic quirkiness. Rooms were warm, clean, comfortable with everything we needed We would come again.
The one way system! Being a visitor to the area, I could see the hotel but took three goes to park near it!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent. Very clean
Very small car park so very difficult to park
the staff were very friendly and nice and the breakfast was passable (raise eyebrows when I asked for a latte).
wallpaper peeling off of the ceiling, mould around the bath, complete overhaul required of rooms. I woke to find 2 bugs in my bed (EEEEKKKKK), communal areas tired, shower leaky and extremely slow and not powerful at all - practically had to dance around to get wet in it. Hairdryer fused, television didn't work....shall I stop there? because I COULD go on.....
Size of room was good
Nothing like the picture Broken lights Missing shades Noisy Smelt of smoke Two single beds pushed together £98 room only - too expensive We were offered breakfast as compensation but we refused that as i was so unhappy
Breakfast was good
Damp smelling room, most plugs didn't work. Bar poor environment for kids - we left a day early
strong internet connection, clean, friendly and helpful staff.
no sound isolation, mattress need to be replaced, strange smell in the corridors, only English breakfast...
Stained carpets Stained Duvet cover Lift has not worked for years Car parking is a total of 10 spaces, very awkward to park Food extremely expensive and not fresh. No trouser press Nothing has been painted or upgraded for years.
Location friendliness of staff
Quality of drinks from the bar Cold function room Outdated rooms Buffet was embarassing
Staff were helpful and friendly although one member of staff actually smelt that bad i had to take a step back from the counter when checking out!
towel supplied looked like an old rag! no tap handle on sink! bed sheets old! room dusty! shower gel container empty and broken, no soap etc! tatty decor. medium rare steak more very well done!
The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Secure parking available.
The location. The hotel is in a fairly run down area...we took a taxi home from the theatre which was the reason for our stay...wouldn't have walked home at night.
The girls on reception and in the bar were amazing. Friendly, knowledgable and polite are just 3 words to describe them. My eldest little boy (8), took his food back to the kitchen to explain a minor problem and it was resolved quickly, friendly and his new dinner was even brought to the room. Thank you all very much. Wifi was quite weak on the second floor. I also think that residents should have a free parking permit for the surrounding streets if they can't park on site.
It was clean and the staff polite and kind.
Everything outdated and needs refurbishing. Mattress was very uncomfortable - felt sprungs.
Staff were excellent and it was very clean.
The hotel looks like it hasn't had a new carpet or decorated since the 70's. New furniture in the bedroom wouldn't go a miss either!
Pleasant staff who were helpful Room was clean enough however
Poorly situated for city centre attractions, typical old hotel that is just tired. The breakfast was ok but sausages were definitely cheap & not that tastl
The staff were amazing. They tried there very best to put things right
The rooms were horrendous. We were moved 3 times, then finally we were given the bridal suite (which was nice but still basic and dated). The location was terrible. We attempted to take our 3 year old son for food to a restaurant at 6.30pm but quickly returned to the hotel as the streets were full of drunks!! We settled down to watch a movie until the party in the next room started about 11pm to 4am, yes 4am. My little boy thought the bad men were coming into our room. They were smoking and drinking in the passage so smoke was coming through our door. I refused to stay another night and demanded a refund, but they would only refund for the following night. We still had to pay for the previous night. Never again will I stay in that down and definitely not that hotel.
