Huge freshly cooked breakfast Friendly, chatty staff Amazing value for money
Cleanliness, and friendly staff. a good place to stay. It was a basic en suite room which allowed us to come and go . Also the bar sold good drinks and we could get a nightcap before turning in. I am already looking to book for next year as a base for a festival!!!!
it was clean, staff were friendly and the food was great.
Warm friendly greeting. Clean bedroom and facilities

People very friendly and helpful. Great value :).
staying at the George was exceptionally good experience I would highly recommend it to anyone
Real english pub...friendly and comfortable. The owner is a great host. locals are very helpful.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean, and although overlooking the Beer Garden, and having the windows open, we had good night sleep. All the locals were friendly, had a great time. Breakfast was a big full English and great value for money (£5.95). The cask beer was very good, Tiger beer, wow its strong. Central to lots of Historical sites which is our interest and the purpose of our trip.
The weather, Rain, but did enjoy the thunder storm.
Jane and her team were really friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean. Enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub and meeting local regulars. Breakfast was really good and value for money. We stayed because we went to the history live event put on by english heritage and we had a brilliant stay. Thanks jane and her team, if we are in the area again we will be staying again.
Everything was great
The room was ok cleanliness wise. The breakfast was ok
There was no mention on booking .com of there being a licence until 2am. It was extremely noisy until after 2 am. There was the smell of cannabis drifting in through the bedroom window from the smoking area below. The landlady had zero customer service skills and didn't care that staying there had been a very unpleasant experience or that they needed to investigate what was taking place in the smoking area. . My booking confirmation stated a full English breakfast was £5. I was told I needed to pay more than that (£5.95 I think) plus extra for an orange juice despite not having the tea or coffee. I fully intended deducting payment to reflect the experience but this was met by a vociferous display of attitude. I ended up feeling exhausted, stressed and bullied. I just wanted to get away from the most unpleasant person I have ever come across at budget accommodation in Europe, usa and Canada. So I ended up paying what my paperwork stated just to get out of the place.
Last minute booking for a funeral a few miles away. Convenient and low cost.
Breakfast over cooked on day 1. Shower had mould on the grout and sealant. No wardrobe. Very noisy until after 1 am on night 2 not warned the pub would be open that late. Couldn't sleep until after pub closed.
very friendly staff.very good breakfast.nice and clean.
Very small rooms. No food served after 5pm
It was quite noisy till about 1.30am but I should have expected it because it is a pub.
Close to restaurants that were open late at night.
Shower was small.
Room was clean and towels, shampoo etc. was provided as was tea/coffee. Bed was OK and clean. Member of staff was polite and helpful.
Distinctly budget end of the spectrum. Room felt really basic. Don't like the headboard behind each bed as these harbour germs etc. Certainly not worth more than the £30 I paid and nowhere near as good as my previous night's stay at the same price.
Very cheap with very friendly staff.
Was pretty noisy with the pub below.
