Location, the staff , very helpful
the beer, dirty glasses, the room,
Comfortable furnishings Rear car parking Large bedroom with attractive en-suite facilities Delicious breakfast Staff very friendly, excellent service Clean Great location Able to book in early as we were due to attend a wedding in the village Value for money
Fire alarm in our room set off by steam from shower Curtains let street light in, hence our poor night's sleep Toilet temperamental
The location is great, easy to find right on the main street & the room was in a house next door so a bit more secluded than in the pub itself. Lovely room & good bathroom. The landlady is great, helpful & jolly, lovely big English breakfast and the food at the pub is good with nice options, real chips & huge portions! I would definitely go there again, & my partner was happy too, we both felt very comfortable.
Good WiFi was important to us but we really struggled to get a signal. The windows of the room are onto the main street which was fine at this quiet time of year but could be noisy in high season. Would be glad of more sugar & milk in the room for teaholics like ourselves!
Breakfast was good with friendly service. Evening meal was ok, nothing special. Car parking was provided.
the room - we were given a room in a building outside the main Inn. The door opened straight onto the path and main road which was very noisy. There was very little space and poor lighting. The ensuite facilities were adequate. Shower was functional but had black mould around the tiling base.
Very good ploughmans. Excellent breakfast
Light above toilet too low, brushed my head on the bulb.
Pub atmosphere and pub food good. Staff friendly.
Garden area could be improved. No marmalade for breakfast!
Excellent location, comfortable bed and wifi in the room. Overall a very good stay
Twin room did not have a second chair or adequate hanging space. Bathroom had room for a chair but not provided. Realise room size posed restrictions but could be got round as above.
Newly decorated. Huge family room with separate bedroom and an extra sofabed. Quality furniture and fittings and lovely cotton bedding. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. Staff very helpful and friendly and even made a packed lunch for us.
There was nothing to dislike really.
room on street level lack of bedside table plug in basin not working lack of shelving in bathroom despite it being large.
Conveniently located for shops, other pubs and eating places in Long Melford main street.
Room rather tired
The staff and management were excellent friendly and very quick to rectify any problems. It appears they are inprocess of making a very nice bed and breakfast, although breakfast could be brought a little up to date. Having aid that the breakfast room was clean modern and comfortable.
Very expensive at weekend for what you got. Bed small and uncomfortable. Room sparse but clean. Entrance, stairs and corridor very worn and tired doesn't feel value for the money charged.
Staff were helpful and very friendly Food quality - breakfast was super. Rooms were full of character and comfortable. Parking Great location
Evenings can be loud but it is a working pub - if you want to relax it may be difficult.
The exit door.
The entry door, tree branches with insects on up against open bathroom window, lights in the bathroom were not working,musty/paint smell in the room and stairway, old dirty carpets in the stairway and room, the furniture in the room looked like purchased from a boot sale.we booked in and was told that our debit card had already bin debited for the stay, which I thought why??,but now we know because alot of people thought the same as us and would not stay there and the management do not except that there so called hotel is a dirty pit and do not give refunds.ive complained to booking.com and awaitng an outcome.
More options for breakfast
The room (no 9) is absolutely perfect, the staff are lovely and really friendly and our breakfast was exactly what we needed!
Nothing, apart from the bed is too comfortable so we fell too deeply asleep during what was only meant to be a brief nap and woke up at 12.35pm so were unable to join in with the fun at the bar in the evening :-(
Excellent location friendly staff and very good cooked breakfast
We wondered if the noise from the bar below would be a problem. In the end we were not too disturbed
Room was good size Staff were helpful Good food
Rooms were hot, could have done with another fan.
Very hospitable staff. Lovely authentic pub with live music, good atmosphere. Clean and tidy room, and excellent breakfast options.
Booked weeks before arrival, and did not expect the money to be taken from my credit card on the day of booking, as I believed it to be a way of securing the booking, with the option to pay with cash or credit/debit card on arrival/departure.
Family room but only three beds
Gem of a BB in the countryside. Great staff, food. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thanks for a memorable few days!
Location in high street, very central.
Was told breakfast was from 07:00 but no one there by 07:25 had to leave by 07:30. So we didnt get the breakfast included in the room rate. Disappointed.! Couldn't get Wifi in the room. Mattress was a bit thin. Road noise as room faced the high street. No reply to email asking why there was no breakfast service early as stated.
Staff were helpfull
Didn't get to sleep untill 2.30 as noisy people still in pub and arguing!!
The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was first class with a good choice and friendly service. The price was less than a Travelodge or Premier inn and it included a full English breakfast.
evening meal could have been more adventurous. Disabled access poor...especially surprise steps into rooms
Breakfast was good, hot and plentyful.
Room was in Ardley House, the entrance hall of which was in need of some TLC. It looked unwelcoming and tatty. TV table looked as if it was about to fall down.
