the location for us was ideal as we were collecting a pup from a neighbouring village the next day.
the restaurant and pub were closed due to a change of ownership. this didnt affect our accommodation but it rather limited our enjoyment of the evening. noone had told us before we arrived.
The George hotel is situated in a lovely village. The two bedroomed apartment was basic but had everything me and my three friends needed. Fantastic value for money.
No local taxis so a £10 charge added to taxis from other areas meant our travel to and from Hickstead was quite pricey.
Very poor breakfast and over priced at 10 pounds.
Setting. History. Cleanliness. Staff courtesy. Quality of the food.
Pokey bedroom with no windows. Very few diners - clearly not popular.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Car parking available. Local supermarket down the road if you miss breakfast.
Staff didn't seem to know how the hotel worked.
was booked as a 2 bedroom apartment but 1 bed in lounge another bed in bedroom but had to walk into lounge to go bathroom, no cleaning gear in kitchen area rubbish bins not cleaned out was like they didn't know how to run a hotel OVER PRICED.
Location, atmosphere, staff, parking.
Single room size too small.
the location was good for where i needed to be. beer garden nice in the heat
no outdoor key, so told that i must be back by 10am no credit card machine working for some time, had to go and pay cash and still awaiting receipt no catering facilities for a 7:30pm arrival, so had to go out for food and ensure i was back by 10pm waiting for staff to aid reception duty after serving people at the bar (she was really pleasant, so not her fault, but it was poor management) the room was incredibly dirty, round the taps in the bathroom, the shower, etc, just made me feel very uncomfortable to be there tv us up high and tiny, so couldnt watched
Tried to check out in the morning but no one around at all. Had to leave the key on the side table and couldn't settle the bill.
The village was a pretty & quaint
The room was way overpriced. The pub hadn't had their food delivery so several items on the menu were unavailable. It just seemed all very disorganised.
The door to the hotel was locked at 1020pm when I returned and so I was unable to get in as I wasn't given a key to this door.I gained entry by knocking on the door and a staff member came from his room to let me in. The room was next to the main road and was very noisy.
Staff very friendly, made us more than welcome. Web site said B and B, but no breakfast was included But this was given to us foc
No larger as gas had run out, no food not sure why. Booking .com had not told them of our arrival.
a lovely old pub/hotel
closes at 6pm on a sunday night, so when i arrived it was in darkness and locked up.. wi-fi was a real pain, a must for my job thats why i chose this location, advertised as wi-fi in all areas and of course it is not !!!!
The Staff were great
Rooms were poor standard and small for the money
A very good breakfast, a comfortable bed ,
Wifi was not offered but we needed it
Lovely room and bathroom with plenty of hot water. Spotlessly clean room and linen. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The shower was good
Air conditioning noisy Window wouldn't open
I wasn't offered any breakfast and thought it was a B and B. The cleaner was at the bar and didn't seem to know anything about the hotel and how it runs which didn't seem fair. The pub doesn't open until 11am so I get the sense nothing happens before then. It also cost me £20 each way for a taxi from the station, so it's a bit out the way.
It was like a Fawlty Towers without the humour!
The staff were so incredibly helpful and polite. They were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure that our group was well looked after. Excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend!
Nice clean rooms in an interesting historic Tudor building. Henfield town generally was nice.
Long wait to book in then had to pay cash as the credit card machine was broken. Wasn't informed about breakfast times and missed out totally even though we went down dead on 10 when breakfast was 9-10, informed the chef had already left. Would have expected breakfast to be included in the price.
small room,not even a biscuit !
Period features of the property.
Unable to get into the hotel at 1:00am, had to phone someone to let us in.
Staff were friendly
Arrived at 9pm after 5 hour journey by car only to be told restaurant had closed and only food available was from a local kebab or fish an chip takeaway! The room was advertised as a double room - there was a double bed in it but the head, foot and one side were against a wall. It therefore meant a certain amount of climbing to get in or out if two people were in bed. This should be made clear on the room description. The lights in the hallway outside the room were not working - necessitating the use of a torch. All in all a very unpleasant experience.
