The food was good value for money
The room was quite cold even after I turned the radiator up to maximum.
It was like sleeping in the car park - only noisier......! And no wifi as stated. Booked in for 3 nights but didn't even stay I night. It was too noisy to sleep.
My bed was warm and comfortable - I had a choice of three single beds but no floor space! Plenty of teas and coffee in the room and the owner of the pub was friendly despite a post Christmas and New Year cough.
Unfortunately the kitchen was not working due to a gas problem and I had to go out to eat - the main reason I chose the pub was that I could "eat in"! My room was above the bar and overlooked the road so was noisy. I asked if I could get one of the "outside" rooms another time and suspect (without looking at them) that they would be in better decorative order.
Noise from downstairs bar. Poor lighting in bedroom. No heating. Stained bed base. Noisy toilet. Less than helpful staff.
Well it was Boxing Day and my partner had booked us into this pub which looked brilliant until we got there , we walked in only to be told rudely pub was closed , then when we stated we were there to stay were shown to our room . There was a staff party going on downstairs and music was blasting until early hours , no facilities or bar was open to us , why take a £60 booking then ? No food , drink available on a Boxing Day , think customers should have been made aware of this , why else do people book into a pub over Christmas ?
noise from bar after closing time car doors slaming and people leaving in early hours. no breakfast on first moring of 2 day stay.
Staff were very friendly. Very relaxed and cosy environment. Arrived late in evening (20:15) and received a warm welcome, quickly checked into room then had a great bar meal with good beer. Wifi was very good strength in all areas (including room). Breakfast is very good value. Only stayed x1night but worked from bar area next morning until my online meetings were finished. Definitely stay again on my next visit to area
Clean room, nice hot shower, television good
Bed uncomfortable ,room noisy sound travelled up from busy bar, tinned tomato not fresh ones,
Even though its a pub, the accomadation was quiet
Chef in kitchen really helpful and accommodating compliment needs to be given to him.
Bedrooms unbearably hot could not alter heating even with opening windows. Member of female staff Saturday night was miserable and had no people skills whatsoever.
Pleasant pub atmosphere, safe parking, obliging staff
Food below average for a Village Pub
The bed was comfortable.
The shower was powerful. However the shower cubical is not fitted well and dirty with pooled standing water in it. The food is not good and served badly as the staff have not been trained properly.
Food and friendly staff
Badly needs redecorating. Dirty carpet and ripped shabby beds.no wardrobe in the room
quiet room even though very small. staff friendly. Excellent egg sandwiches
Breakfast only being served between 7 and 8 am . Obviously for business people during week. People on holiday do not want to have to get up so early!
Breakfast good Staff friendly
Being told, "we don't really do wine", when I asked for a bottle. Poor parking.
Rooms are comfortable
given wrong information about time of breakfast so didn't get any
Very good stay. Good food for a good price. Room in the stable block outside a tad small maybe! Free wifi that worked well. Good substantial cooked breakfast. Will stay again next time in the area.
Shower head dripped so I laid it down. Shower curtain was a little suspect made from a strange material... just looked and felt grubby!! Breakfast fast and efficient, just felt that the toast should have come on a separate plate with butter rather than all being chucked on top of the breakfast!!! minor point!!
Good portion sizes, good range of real ales, decent breakfast
The humungous spider in the bed that woke me in the morning by crawling over my shoulder!
food and service
room a little small.
Unique charm of an old building, quality of food , pleasant staff, breakfast was cooked as you like it, close to what we went there to see being Kingslere Castle.Able to leave bags at hotel after checking out for the day.
Small bedroom and bathroom. Tight parking right outside your window. Not necessarily walking distance to trains, buses, but under 15 pounds for a taxi ride to these services
Leaving the following morning
The room I was given was room 3 this is directly above the bar but feels like you are actually in it. The noise was absolutely unbearable and went on until 12.45 am. I know it was a Saturday night but when I have paid for a nights sleep that's what I expect! not to be lying in bed listening to foul language from individuals in the bar area and then outside for a further half hour. I could go on and on but will definitely not be staying there again ever.
Nice atmosphere, good beer, great staff
A good "spring-clean" would have made a big difference!
Remote controle for TV was missing. Heating in room not working. No Wi-F- signal. Hair Dryer in room not connected.
Easy parking Comfortable Bed Acceptable catering
No remote for TV Wi Fi unobtainable except for early AM Nowhere to place personal toiletries in on-suite Acommodation a bit on the small side
