The room was very attractive, a good size and spotless. The bed was very comfortable, there were tea and coffee making facilities and TV and Wi-Fi were good. The staff were friendly.
I could hear the person in the room next door very clearly and his TV was disturbing me. It was not possible to sleep with the window open because of the road noise. The Jack Rabbit wine on tap!
The rooms are well appointed with good quality furniture. Very clean. Cooked breakfast was excellent..you could asks for anything. Plenty of parking.
A lick of paint needed in places in our room but family took 3 other rooms and all theirs were all fine. Didn't detract from the fact that it was a lovely room though.
Everything clean, in good condition and comfortable. Landlord and staff welcoming and helpful.
very clean, reasonable room size, lovely cosy cottage feel to rooms. Initially I worried about traffic noise but actually it was Ok even on a saturday night. Staff very friendly (including the dog :-))
Would prefer duvets to blankets on the bed
The atmosphere in the bar was very welcoming. The food was excellent and service friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. We were made to feel like welcome friends rather than guests and really enjoyed our stay.
Nothing to report.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was lovely and warm and clean. The décor in the bedroom was nice. The waiting staff were lovely in the restaurant.
The Wi-Fi didn't work. The bathroom was a bit dated and the shower wasn't great. The meal we had in the restaurant was a bit pricey for what it was.
Great location for visiting the Forest of Dean. Modern and comfortable bathroom.
Wifi wasn't working. Details of the room were a bit tired.
Excellent food and service
Wifi in room not existent
the food--poor quality and expensive. the accommodation--OK but over priced the manager --bumptious
The staff were very helpful and the food was good. They moved us to a quieter room at the back which became available for the second night, and this was fine.
Bedroom on first night right next to the road, A48, which I hadn't realised was such a busy road throughout the night with heavy vehicles passing by. Therefore, couldn't have window open even a bit. Village lined the A48 with no shops, disappointing location.
Beds were comfy and rooms away from the pub
Creeky floorboards, we could here everything from the room above us, so we were awake as early as they were and heard clear voices from next door
The food. The service and they are dogs friendly!
A beautifully appointed room, spotlessly clean and spacious. A friendly bar and cozy breakfast room. good access to the Wye Valley and Chepstow. Although on the A48, the traffic noise was minimal.
the memory foam mattress topper made me hot and restless at night. The English breakfast was ok but the sausage was on the turn, going rather 'yeasty'. Upon informing the waitress to advise the chef that the sausage was sub standard, she apologized saying 'funny, the chef cooked them only yesterday!' No ill effects.
The location was ideal for my next visit in the morning. The quality of the food and the smiling waitress in the evening.
The traffic noise from the main road was very intrusive during the evening. The room was a little on the small side but adequate. The TV was tucked away in the corner of the room. The bathroom was also on the small side
Nice & cleen room. There's a small beautifull play-yard next to the lodge. We had a good English breakfast (extra charge) and had dinner in the restaurant which was great. Free parking and free wi-fi were very helpfull.
Warm friendly staff, where nothing is to much. Facilities are just what you need and the Bed was comfortable, good value for the money. Food was very good with plenty of choice, especially for us vegetarians. Being on the edge of the Forest of Dean meant easy access to a lovely part of the country. Will definitely be returning soon.
The family room was beautiful, very spacious,a lot of attention to detail. Location was good, near rail station and Forest attractions.Staff helpful(eg sorted out taxi)and good choice of breakfast
The restaurant and bar were good and the food quite nice.
The noise from the road and within the paper thin walls of the lodge made sleeping impossible. It was like nothing we've ever experienced. Though we booked for two days we checked out after the first night.
The room was comfortable and the service was very good.
Boiler Noisy Overnight
Good food freshly cooked. Small play area for children
The hotel is by the side of the very busy A48 taking traffic away from South Wales to Gloucester a lot of very noisy traffic. No locks on inside of bedroom doors had to place drawers in front of door to prevent toddler opening door.No Wi-Fi in restaurant / bar area.
very dog friendly, great welcome and really helpful staff who go the extra mile. We made a mistake with our booking and this was dealt with very professionally. Good location for exploring Forest of Dean and South Wales.
We liked that there was a play area for the children.
We had a good meal, a very comfortable night in the lodge and our bikes were locked away securely. Everything we needed. Although the main road is very busy there are other routes to cycle here - including a lovely 4 mile downhill which we did!
The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. My 3 yr old daughter loved the room and found the bed very comfortable. We had our dinner in the pub restaurant and even though the waitress was rushed off her feet she was still very polite and helpful.
