We had a good meal, a very comfortable night in the lodge and our bikes were locked away securely. Everything we needed. Although the main road is very busy there are other routes to cycle here - including a lovely 4 mile downhill which we did!

The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. My 3 yr old daughter loved the room and found the bed very comfortable. We had our dinner in the pub restaurant and even though the waitress was rushed off her feet she was still very polite and helpful.

Evening meal in pub Nice restaurant area

No one checked if we were happy with room, bed, facilities. No one asked if we enjoyed our breakfast or stay.

Exactly what we needed for an overnight stay with young children. The family room was lovely and the food was great and beautifully presented - including a full vegetarian breakfast. It was so nice to be able to sit in the garden with a drink after a long journey while the children had a great time on the playground. Couldn't ask for more!

Nice room with comfortable beds. Great to have a small play area outside lodge. Lovely large bath and hot water. Close to lots of attractions and good places to eat. Felt safe.

Breakfast food was fine but, second time had to ask for bowls, more butter, no glassed for orange juice. No coffee top-ups and had to wait for awhile, with not overly friendly service. Nothing major, didn't make us annoyed, but these little differences that stop you from going 'wow, definitely stay there', instead' yeah it was fine'- it stopped us from trying the food in the evening. Also shower head wouldn't stay up, but luckily we fixed it ourselves.

Great little place, nice unique bedrooms that made a change from chain hotels, only problem was the TV in the room next to ours was on the wall adjacent to our headboard so had their tv in surroundasound when trying to sleep requiring a bang on the wall!! Otherwise lovely

    See above!!!

Didn't like the way tables are set out in the bar area. Tables too large and if smaller, could be spaced out further to offer more privacy.

Good pub food, nice breakfast, cosy accommodation in a lovely village.

The room was spacious and the location, close to the Forest of Dean was ideal.

    Food a little pricey.

    - Good location to explore the Forest of Dean Area - Accomodation in a seperate building across the Pub/restaurant is convienient and reduces noise - Welcoming and friendly staff, excellent breakfast

    - Traffic noise from the main road, if possible choose a room that faces away from the road (e.g. Nbr.4)

The welcome, everything about the accomadation, the staff were all outstanding. we had a lovely evening meal & breakfast from the onsite restaurant. we would highly recommend everything about the place

The position of the tv made it difficult to watch in comfort, adjustable wall brackets would solve the issue,

The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was very clean.

Our room faced on to the main road; we asked for a change but this wasn't possible. The noise from the road meant that it was extremely difficult to sleep at all. When we spoke to the person at the desk the next morning, he said he couldn't help traffic. I fully understand that but want others who are considering booking at the Lodge to be aware of this. Maybe we were unlucky with having Room 10 but I think it's only fair that people, who are looking for a peaceful stay, do not choose this accommodation.

Good size room, good food in pub, bed clean and comfortable.

cleaning left a little to be desired with a few cobwebs here and there and some dusty surfaces, and room had very bad lighting, so difficult to see when dressing etc.

The staff were lovely, food excellent and rooms very nice. Position on the edge of the Forest of Dean was perfect. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

I had trouble sleeping the first night because of road noise. It was very warm and I needed the window open. I also couldn't get wifi connection on the first floor annexe and had to come downstairs to get online. Bathroom was on the tiny side, but adequate as I was using the room solo. I think I had the smallest bathroom in the group. One of the rooms had an immense wet room.

I loved the staff at dinner and breakfast, very hospitable and professional. I had left my phone in the bar and the owner came out to find me and give it back.

The staff member that met me on arrival, very brusque, dont know what she is doing front of house, could damage your business in a big way with the number of single travellers with deep pockets with a choice, she spoilt the first day of my holiday with her manner!!!
