This is a proper old fashioned hotel experience, with polite, courteous and efficient staff, with accommodation and public areas which have been regularly maintained and updated in keeping with the atmosphere of a historic hotel. Excellent breakfast and all round great experience.

    Can't think of anything.

We make an excuse to stay at the George Hotel whenever we can. It is relaxing, the staff are friendly and attentive, without being over the top. The food is delicious, something for every taste. The bedrooms are always comfortable, as are the beds!

Brilliant atmosphere, great staff, excellent food and drink. The best breakfast served piping hot and worth every penny

The shower in our room was poor, so I had a bath instead

The service at dinner was unacceptably slow. We waited a hour to be served with the only dish we had - the main course. It was delicious but the wait did spoil the evening.

Very clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. Excellent value.

Noise from the corridor outside of my room was very audible and an alarm just after midnight was not welcome.

I've stayed at this hotel many times and have always found it very reliable. Service is very good and always prompt. There are lots of places (indoors and out) to sit on your own or to entertain guests. Rooms are comfortable and double glazing cuts out most of the traffic noise from the road. The hotel has installed ceiling fans (at least there was one in my room) to help with particularly high temperatures. The location of the hotel is convenient for shops and the centre of Stamford (which is a lovely, still quite unspoilt town).

My single bed was comfortable but seemed quite high - I think a shorter person might have found it a bit of a leap to get on it!

Everything. We have visited The George on many occaison, especially at Christmas, but never stayed overnight. The tasteful decor, sumptuous meal and oh so comfortable bed made for a very special birthday celebration.

Having to leave the next day!

The friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and the excellent location.

The window wouldn't open in room 52 and the fan provided was fine when not trying to sleep, but on a low setting it still kept me awake.

This is a lovely , old , coaching inn . The different areas were interesting - from the oak panelled sitting room , to the orchid festooned breakfast room and the lovely outside dining area . Complementary tea in bed with newspaper . Excellent quality , comfortable bed .

The bedroom was a little on the small side . The weather was VERY hot but there was an effective , quiet fan in the room . We wanted the windows open and as we were facing the road the traffic noise was considerable in the evening and early morning . If we had shut the windows the double glazing would have been very efficient . Would have been fine with 'normal' English summer weather .

The décor in the bedroom was very dark making it feel small. The bed was very high so being slightly disabled I had difficulty getting in.
