With a recreation center and a stylish restaurant, Novotel Reading Centre is just a 2-minute walk from Reading train station. This modern hotel has a 24-hour front desk and a cozy lounge bar.
Score from 634 reviews Very good
Hillingdon Prince Hotel is a mile from the center of Reading and provides a gym, free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Reading University is a short drive away.

Close to the Oracle shopping complex and a short walk from Reading Train Station, Premier Inn Reading Central is a modern, affordable, efficient base.
Score from 364 reviews Very good
Great front desk staff and Manager. An affordable alternative to the functional modern chains. Super location in old, character building. Steps up, no lift, but this is the trade-off for character.
Central, in historic building - character compared to modern purpose-built hotels. Friendly staff - I had made a booking error and the Manager was very helpful in resolving the problem.
Great room, but a little dated (e.g., hot tap and cold tap, not mixer tap).
Good hotel good staff very good location for night life
Staff so helpful. Cleanliness was first class. Breakfast was comprehensive. Wi-Fi had great connection
I cannot fault the Hotel.
Town centre location
I was next to the air conditioning units of the Oracle shopping centre opposite - so I went out and bought ear plugs so I could sleep better. No way to control the heating in the room - they provided a blanket to keep warm.
The rooms and hotel are very basic. You pay for location here not the hotel. The breakfast was terrible when I asked for Salt and Pepper I got the kitchen's salt and pepper!! The whole hotel is very cold and not comfortable at all. With a bit love and care it could be great. When we returned to have a nightcap at 11 pm we were told by a very patronising porter that in England pubs shut at 11 pm. As I come from the North of England I disagree with this sentence wholeheartedly and usually the bars in hotels are open longer anyway. No, I will not return. If I want a basic hotel I go to Ibis for a fraction of the price of this hotel.
Old worldwide feel but tired
Tired and run down
I never thought this hotel would be such a great place to stay! I've found a offer with 66% discount. General quality of the room very good despite you have to understand the building is very very old! - Location - Value for money (= 30£ for the single room ensuite) - Staff - room
- nothing to write
The night porter was excellent very friendly & helpful even let me use his shoulders to get up the stairs at 4am due to much fun juice. Great bloke owe him big time.
Great location in Reading town centre. Charming old tudor building.
They never responded to my email and they didn't know anything about the history of the hotel.
Good location Helpful staff
Big rooms which were cleaned and furnished to high standard.
Fire alarm went off at 4am - no apology from staff in the morning at check out.
My second stay recently for a Fri/Sat night stopover. Perfect in every way for convenience and location. No issues with noise inside or out whatsoever. Can also highly recommend the Indian Vegetarian only Street Food Restaurant, attached to the hotel. Excellent food.
Nothing to not like....
Great location / setting / good sized room (especially for a single) lovely old building (i especially liked the rickety and randomly winding staircase)
Room smelt faintly of stale tobacco and bath wasn't properly clean (bottom of bath was stained from a rubber bath mat and there was fluff (pubic hair) on the rim ...
Nothing the hotel I booked in advance was overbooked
Everything the comfort hotel was atrocious, tired overpriced and not to levels of comfort I expect.
Location, friendly staff, left a charger behind which they found and returned, security door at front of hotel, good value for one night
Bit noisy as people were walking the streets after the pubs shut, needs a bit of a makeover, bit smelly
In general the room was fine and liked the quirky features of the old hotel.
The radiator didn't work and as I stayed there in December the room was cold, I informed staff on two occasions but nothing was done. Breakfast was poor.
all of trip
there was nothing i disliked
No food kept awake all night by baby's crying all night when I had to work at 5 the next day on railway so was not happy that I had little or no sleep
Period, listed building, quaint, with sloping floors, crooked doorways, creaky stairs, proper character. Next door to the Oracle Centre. A very quiet location too. No noisy groups staying on my visit. This part of the town is NOT within the much hyped and controlled noisy clubbing zone on Friar St.
The cost of the breakfast did not represent good value, and not partaken as plenty of alternatives nearby.
Right outside the Oracle, location couldn't be better for the town centre. Friendly staff, comfortable room.
Old, creaky, uneven floorboards and a rabbit warren to get to the room. For me it all added character, but for those less steady on their feet it could be a challenge
The positive about this hotel is its location. That's it.
Hotel is a very old building approx 200 years plus. Due to this it is a labyrinth of small corridors. Everything is old, dirty or broken. It looks beyond tired. Cleaning in rooms is very poor. Facilities in rooms are sub standard.
close proximity to town large bathroom
being woken at 4.30am long walk to room
