Location, staff, cleanliness Lack of attention to detail e.g. no bar soap, liquid soap unuseable from bath, flakey Wi-Fi. Carvery food poorly presented. Meats visually uninspiring and dry. Overcooked vegetables. Generic gravy.

Comfortable rooms and friendly staff - and an excellent late buy deal which came within charity budget for overnight stays! My room (63) was dominated by a massive television which was a pity - television is not important to me and I didn't switch it on at all! Also, shame about the tinned tomatoes with an otherwise excellent breakfast.

Great location, comfortable bed and pillows, helpful staff. Breakfast wasn't fresh, although we went down three quarters of an hour before it finished, and it was dry on both mornings. The cleaning staff were very noisy. They were calling to eachother and banging around from quite early.

The George is very well located, in the center of a delightful town, Lichfield, with a beautiful cathedral and other attractions. The hotel itself has a nice traditional English atmosphere, the staff is pleasant, the breakfast is copious. It fits the town better than a more modern building and atmosphere.

The Jotel was ideally situated for us as we were attending a friends wedding the following day and travelled up the night before. The Hotel was situated within walking distance of botht he registry office and also the reception venue as well as being in the centre for some last minute shopping!! The Hotel has an olde world feeling about it which was lovely. In the rear courtyard was a lovely fountain with tables and a large parasol whcih I am sure in the summer months is absolutely beautiful. The lady Polly on reception was very welcoming and really helpful in lettig us keep our room an extra hour to tie in with our plans for the day which I had requested when booking the reservation. We were upgraded to a Superior room due to availability which was excellent. The room was very warm but had the advantage of air conditioning or an opening window if you needed it. Tea and coffee facilities as well as an ironing board, iron and trouser press also were a pleasant surprise and discreetly hidden in the wardrobe and storage unit. A very pleasant and comfortable room. The one poor point of our stay was the inclusive cooked breakfast. The waitress came to take the order and said it would be cooked on order as stated on the menu, however the change to order wasn`t done on one of them, one breakfast had no mushrooms which were standard and the bacon on the breakfast had clearly been cooked a long time and just been kept warm. Had the restaurant been busy it may have been more expected but there were just the two of us and one other table occupied with 3 people. It was very poor. To non residents this breakfast would cost nearly £10.00!!!! There was also no facility for decaf breakfast tea which surprised me in a hotel of this size and status. We later had a cup of tea in the lobby area whilst waiting for our friends which was very cold and changed when we requested it to be.

From the arrival at reception there was a friendly feel and willing to help which continued with all staff. They appeared to enjoy being there and to make you feel the same. A lovely old "coaching" hotel in the centre of a lovely city but with all mod cons.Everywhere in this compact city walkable.

This an exceptionally clean and tidy family owned hotel I would definitely recommend it to absolutely anyone. Room 37 doesn't have a view but for an overnight that was ok and the standard of the room and ens far outweighed this.

“What a wonderful stay and so unexpected. The location is rather strange as you enter through a housing estate. We were met in the car park and was taken straight to our room no faffing about with check ins.The Johnson suite we choose was exquisite and for £120 per night including breakfast was excellent value. The bed was lovely and comfy and the bathroom has a roll top bath with flat screen tv located in the wall in front. There was also a shower which was slightly disappointing as it kept fluctuating in temperature ( maybe I am being a little picky here). The room was very pretty. The hotel staff were fantastic and very welcoming and we had the cheeriest waitress who served us breakfast in the morning. Wish we had stayed for an extra night.” Lynda, Wettenhall Winsford |
