The room number 1 is gorgeous
it need more care the place, and breakfast to good.
Perfect location for easy access to Derby University on foot. The staff went out specially to buy ingredients to cater for my dietary needs. My single room was quite small but had everything I needed, and the ensuite shower was great.
The road is quite busy and if you have a roadside room, you might need an eye mask and a set of earplugs.
The location of this hotel is perfect for us when visiting family. The staff are a real credit to the this hotel & a lovely breakfast & the beer is a bonus the pub has a micro brewery so the ale is 1st class
Loved every bit of the hotel, the drink and food are reasonablity prices and the food is lovelllly! Room was awesome, really comfortable and class, would deffo stay again! Thanks :)
Room very hot on an evening and milk had gone off due to being sat in the window.
Hotel room was clean and I shared a twin with a business colleague which made it more value for money (as there are a lot of more modern hotels about with better offers on their rooms so sharing gave this hotel a value price ) ideal location for our business purpose . Simple choice of breakfast but good waiter service and cooked breakfast was nice
Decor could be updated a little to give a fresher feel
The food was excellent great value for money the room was lovely me and my partner had a really good nights stay
No clear direction where to sign in when arrive at the hotel
they went out of their way to do a requested breakfast that was not on the menu
nothing to dislike
Just about OK for a two night stay for the price we paid for room only. The building had a bit of old fashioned charm and only ten minutes walk from the centre of Derby
The room was dark and looked as though it was still furnished from the 1970's. Very small shower which could not be regulated properly/had to ask for a bath mat and toilet paper/room was not clean and found a cigarette lighter in full view under the bed. Restaurant only open for parties/the bar menu was not enticing/they seemed more interested in serving beer etc to the locals using the extensive outside areas. Stuck in a time warp and desperately in need of a makeover as it has potential.
Location and beer garden atmosphere with easy parking for a city hotel.
A bit hot in the rooms this weather and keeping the windows open all the time was essential which means very loud traffic noise from main road into city right outside window from very early going to work traffic after 5.30am until very late going home from city traffic up to 1am in the morning….
Very helpful, friendly staff. Food was excellent. Room booked into was lovely and well furnished.
cooked breakfast and the beer
Pretty much everything else. Room very noisy and lights not working. Broken sash cord on bathroom window. Apart from the toilet, nothing else in the bathroom (washbasin, bath and shower, which was falling off the wall) worked as it should. We had to wash in two inches of water which took ages to gather. No apology from staff, who were rude and offensive and no offer of any kind of refund, the whole of the cost of the room being taken without any discussion and problems dismissed as though they never existed. My wife has Alzheimer's and is incontinent so a shower is a must! Appalling! Remove them from your list as they will give you a bad name! ongoing attempt to recover my money - can you help?
For me, it was a good base for one night as had event at Osmaston, 15 mins away. Lovely old (slightly neglected) Georgian building with nice features. Comfy seating area for residents and quieter areas in other room adjoining dining room for reading. Needs a good spring clean and redecoration in places. CAMRA pub with good ales, lots of customers and great atmosphere. For one night, it was fine. My room overlooked main street (A52) so was traffic noisy. Staff friendly and helpful. Off road parking and pleasant garden/outdoor seating areas.
Should have asked for a rear bedroom as A52 very noisy (all night) and it was so hot in my room (heatwave) that I had to sleep with window open. Was woken several times. The curtains need attention (Room 2) and the bathroom could do with a proper clean, particularly behind the door and alongside the toilet wall.
Atmosphere makes it a great venue for a wedding. So many optional areas meets every need. I was a guest travelling to Derby.
No diet lemonade only coke. No tequila. Breakfast on Sunday too early. Some staff were a bit brusque, could just be Derby way. Other staff were delightful, treated us as special guests as we are.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
The room was comfortable and the bathroom was larger than we expected and in keeping with the deco of the bedroom, which had a four poster bed.
Location, price, staff attitude
Room was excessively hot, with only one opening window which was extremely small.
Very good value and reasonably convenient for the Cathedral quarter. Great staff - we got the keys and went out without checking the room. Arrived back at 1am to find that the room had not been made up but they immediately found us another room and the 4-poster bed was a fun touch... The attached pub did nice beer.
Room 16 bordered onto areas where loud functions were held until late and the window faced straight onto the courtyard. Shower was a tight fit!
It was located not too far from the City Centre. Great Georgian interiors. Great place to relive that era!
Food closes at 9am! Most Asians would only eat after 9 pm!
A bedroom at front a bit noisy due to traffic
Location of hotel was very good for travelling purposes.
Very nice period hotel, extremely comfortable rooms, clean and well equipped, nice bar with good beer and good food. i would definately stay again.
Very noisy due to other guests and a party outside our window. My hubs mad went across the road to Tesco to supplement the poor breakfast choices. Had to use bottled water. No Wi-Fi in our room. Would not recommend this hotel
Staff. very helpful and freindly. good location to derby city. comfortable bed..
quite noisy, due to being next to a main road, but if you need to be within walking distaince to Derby centre, its great.
The room was very nice. Shower was good.
I arrived Friday tea time.for my daughters degree show.no good until 5,30.which was no good as show started at 5pm. Breakfast was ok. I stayed at this hotel two years ago and found standards have droped a lot. Will find somewhere else for my next stay in derby
