Originally built in 1756, the Georgian House Hotel is a Grade II listed historic building combining traditional, old-world charm with modern comforts and facilities. There are 18 rooms with private bathrooms, each of which is individually styled and furnished to reflect the building’s historic character. The warm and friendly welcome from mine host, the very comfortable four poster bed and the direct link through to the adjoining Mr Grundy's where there are many pictures of stars past and present, three of the real ales are brewed on site there is even a Red Phone Box for an extra bit of atmosphere Nothing

I stayed here because my daughter is at University Halls and this hotel couldn't be better location-wise - right opposite the halls. Good value pub next door. Easy and secure parking. Extremely friendly staff. Nice cooked breakfast in the morning. It is a little old fashioned and the bathroom was a bit cold - however, for the price it was a good hotel.

The location was the best part as I had a function 5 mins away. Close to the peak district. Rusty shower, very dirty windows, could not drink the water, which is a first for me in the uk.

The bar, dining and communal areas were quite nice My sheets and duvet smelled of stale tobacco smoke. The toilet had not been cleaned since the previous occupant as evidenced by the faecal matter lining the inside of the toilet bowl!

The hotel was very quaint and had lots of character. The room was nice and clean and the shower worked well We didnt have any food so can't comment on that. The location -the hotel is on a very busy A-road and the windows don't keep the traffic noise out at all so I had a pretty sleepless night. Waterproof mattress covers and not the ones with cotton covers so just the bed sheets on top of the plastic. It was horrible and when we checked out they said all the beds have them. I have never seen these in any hotel!! Lastly £8 pp for breakfast is a bit steep!

The bed was comfortable. The shower was weak and kept going hot and cold. The toilet roll was meagre and cheap and the holder fell off the wall as soon as I touched it. The bin in the bathroom hadnt been emptied. The duvet looked creased and unwashed. There was no hair dryer in the room and was only available upon request at reception, I was not told of this until I queried it at checkout.

The fact that it is haunted! We were lucky and stayed in room 12! Got some 'orbs' on a few of our photos we took. The management and staff were very friendly. A beautiful hotel with a lot of history, and we love how the originality is preserved. Loved the location. Easy access to the city center and close to a lovely large park. The only thing we didn't like was the cost of the breakfast. We found that £8 each was a little too dear for what we got. Whereas the evening meal and drinks were very good value.

The hotel is easy to find with car parking. There is a relaxed atmosphere in both the bar and lounge, although there was a private function in the lounge area when we arrived which we walked through from the carpark. It does appear to be a Georgian house! Our room was above the bar, but we were not troubled by noise from there. There is free wifi which came in handy (see other comments). I had booked one of the rooms with a four poster bed, which it had. Unfortunately it also had Georgian windows which looked out onto a main road into Derby and were not able to cope with 21st century traffic. The road noise at night was quite a problem, not helped by traffic lights feeding the noise at regular intervals. The TV in the room also suffered from a damp connection, I got better reception on my iPad using the wireless.
