Brian the Manager made our stay extra special with his help and kindness - he is a top man!
It was warm enough.
Cramped rooms(about 20cm from bed to wall) Cheap furniture Our dog was "a problem" in the "pet friendly hotel" Breakfast was not edible
Nice old building. Nice staff.
Free WiFi didn't work upstairs.
Brian was very friendly and welcoming, nothing seemed too much effort. He's a definite asset to the place.
The shower was too small. The place is in need of a bit of revamp....beautiful old house, seems a shame to 'let it go'
It wasn't luxury as the low price for the rooms suggest. However my single room was cosy and adequate with nice high ceilings. if you're on a budget it's ideal for a base. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
while the bed linen and towels were clean there is room for improvement
value for money hotel in good location
Showered in the dark as the electricity was off in the room in the morning. Basic but serviceable room. For the price I knew what I was getting. Others may not have !
We have stayed here three times now. My sone is at UNI in Glasgow and the Georgian is just down the rd from him. We uses it as a base mainly but the staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are big and clean and we were able to nip to the breakfast room to make toast to bring back to the room at 5.30am which was wonderful when out 2yr old decided to wake at this time! A lovely B&B, we will be staying again.
Beds need replacing shower hose broken never go back
location - we had free parking but the hotel was not full.
Building has been neglected and needs upgrading
- limited breakfast time - it is not true that you can have a breakfast till 9:30 - Internet does not work in a room
The friendliness and helpfulness of mr Brian at the hotel.
A second towel would of been splendid.
Great position but I'm surprised at the lack of high quality bnbs in Glasgows west end. This one is fair given the price and location but don't expect to be wowed. It does have a few parking spaces at the back which is handy in this part of town.
Needed refurb, blinds were a bit grimey, shower wasn't great, missing light bulb in one lamp. Just a wee bit too much on the tired side to get away with rustic charm. But hey its not expensive so does the job.
Location and friendliness of staff. Great if you want a base to explore the west end.
It is exactly as described, no heirs and graces.
I was at a lecture in Byres Road in the evening and a university course in the morning, and so the location was ideal for these purposes.
There is a general air of shabbiness. The plumbing in the bathroom was slow and noisy. No bath mat. No toiletries other than a couple of bars of soap. Shutters that couldn't close. Very basic breakfast, with cold tea.
Good location Nice size room. Good value Comfy bed
Breakfast- only continental, no cooked option 4pm check in??? Too late in day!!! They let us in early but we were made to feel like it was quite an inconvenience. Ultimately both these issues come from lack of staff. I think they could do with more than one person running the place...to improve the service. Place could also do with a bit of a refurb...poor finishes, peeling paint, thread bare I'll fitting carpet etc.
Location is good if visiting the West End of Glasgow
A) No facility to cater for early arrivals although it states arrival time of 4pm there us no stipulation that access is not available B) It should clearly state that there is no lift facilities and room allocation means climbing of stairs C) lack of staff is evident and one should expect a far better level of customer service but it is not so much a complaint against the staff member on shift but a general observation of an individual under pressure due to commitment at hand Overal the cost and services provided did not match up to a hotel expectancy level
When we arrived Brian the manager was very helpful, he came down the back entrance to let us in,took our bags straight up to our room on the top floor, made us feel very homely,he organized our taxi, made sure it was on time, great stay at this establishment, would recommend it ,great host very helpful told us where to go for great night&we cant wait to go back, continental breakfast, at descent times too.Brian was a very friendly guy, good sense of humour, would definitely stay here again. Thanks Brian.
A delightful view of the magnificent Botanical Gardens through curtains with elephants on them. The location is outstanding and the room was extremely big and comfortable.
Best at this price
easy going, excellent location, fair price
It wasn't a five star hotel but I didn't pay a five star price so it would be unfair to criticise.
The accommodation I was assigned was far better than I had originally booked. Elizabeth, the manager, was very concerned that I should be comfortable and gave me a superior quality of accommodation for the same price - The Garden Cottage. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful with homely, country cottage decor. Balm for the soul! Very flexible about departure time so I could leave my suitcase in the accommodation until time to catch train.
Some washing up liquid would, have been helpful. Otherwise all facilities in place and heating on when I arrived.
The location was fine for what we wanted, and there was plenty of choice of nearby places to eat. The room was comfortable enough. It was a bonus to have free parking behind the B & B.
The manager was not at all friendly. The shower needed a good clean. Although we had booked for three people there were only 2 sets of tea/coffee cups etc. Breakfast was pretty minimal.
Be prepared for very tired and run down accommodation- certainly not 3 star. We moved to another 3 star hotel nearby for less per night and a much higher standard of accommodation.
shower broken window continental breakfast
