The Log fires in the bar. with a good pint after a days work The bed was comfy and the room was clean But the Bathroom in the mallard room was in need of a bit of attention mirror hanging off wall, grout around bath tiles & door hits the loo. Walls to next room are also bit on the thin side hear them moving around and using the loo |

Food was good. Big real fires burning in both rooms give a lovely feeling to the place. Room nice, beds big, view gorgeous. Breakfast was fine but not very exciting -basic stuff. |

Pleasant staff, well appointed rooms with good bathrooms. Excellent breakfast both in quality and quantity and good evening food. We only stayed one night enroute but very tempted to come and stay for longer. |

The relaxed feeling about the place. The coal fire in the bar on a cold night. The portion of food was good and the food itself was "to die for". Breakfast superb. 3 teabags in teapot for one person - luxury...usually get hit with one only in most hotels. The standard of the room was very high indeed. In the main entrance foyer there is a step down. When I arrived on a dark evening, the foyer light wasn't on, so I didn't know the step was there and I stumbled. There is also a step down from the opposite side of the bar into the bar. No signage for this, and I stumbled into the bar hitting my elbow on the doorframe. I reported this to the hotel reception staff. Signage and lighting can easily sort these issus. I accept the badly positioned steps will be due to the age of the hotel. I must emphasize that this was the only criticism I have about what was a wonderful stay. |

Excellent food and a comfy, clean room. Welcoming and friendly staff. The location was very quiet and we enjoyed a really nice view from the restaurant, which overlooks the river. We will definitely stay at The George on our next visit to the north east. |

The two open fires in the bar were very pleasant. Our room overlooked the river and had a balcony which added to the romance of viewing the river. |

Ambiance, breakfast, mattress/duvet, staff. Stayed here a couple of months ago and pleased to have the chance to return. Good food and dining room, riverside garden, wonderful bedding flowers. Good staff, yet, as ever there were too few of them. Do recommend a walk over the bridge to view the remains of a Roman settlement and to the far end of the car park where a path leads to the remains of a spectacular Roman bridge - the Forth Bridge of its day. Room needed some detailed attention. Lavatory seat broken, soap ran out but not replaced, phone not plugged in. |
