GENERALLY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY STAFF. LOVELY ATMOSPHERE.
MISCOMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF WHICH INITIALLY COST ME MONEY NEEDLESSLY.
0ur stay was made perfect by the friendliness of the staff, the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel and a superb location. We would like to come back one day. The breakfasts were very good also.
Cannot honestly think of anything we did not like.
Staff and food, comfortable room
Breakfast slightly hap-hazard.
Staff were very friendly
Could be improved meals not up to to a good standard.
Beautiful location on the river but little ones needed to be closely watched as it was potentially very dangerous. Lovely peaceful village, open fires and period features in bar and restaurant.
Room not set up for 3 guests, one cup, 2 towels, no pillowcases on single bed. Poor ventilation, condensation running down windows obscuring any view and wood frames badly warped so difficult to open and close. Radiators very noisy and ineffectual as needed bleeding, hot at bottom stone cold at top so room chilly. Feature lights with very low watt bulbs safe room dingy and poorly lit. Throw cushion on bed filthy, mentioned it to staff, still no action after 2 days stay. Remote didn't work, not fixed despite being mentioned to staff. Very expensive in bar, plain vanilla ice cream was £4. Majority of staff disinterested and didn't ask about our stay as we handed in keys.
I made a mistake on my booking, I was travelling up north for my dads funeral, both booking .com and staff at the George were excellent how they managed to sort us out.
How comfortable and relaxed the bar area was. The rooms were excellent both space and decor
Have stayed here before. Friendly efficient staff . Fantastic food :-)
The corridor in the accommodation is very hot
Everything including waking up to the snow
Lovely place. Friendly, helpful staff.
A little pricier than I would have liked. Shame it's on a main road, and they had a few workmen in for the phonons who had to gain access to our room while we were in.
Nice pleasent staff
The staff were very accomodating and no little thing was too much trouble.
Well appointed rooms, very comfortable and spacious. Bathroom was excellent. Good food, although a bit pricey, was very well presented and the service was excellent.
No problems with the hotel at all. If I had to criticise one thing, maybe the beer was a bit expensive.
Good helpful staff. Good food. Bedrooms are equipped with everything you need.needles
I have stayed here previously so it is OK for me, however, this time I was disappointed (see "what didn't you like) it is in a nice position, the parking is free and the evening food is ok if slightly overpriced for "pub grub" The breakfast is nice and the place has a nice atmosphere.
The spray head on the shower was broken and sprayed water as much from the sides as it did from the holes, the shower cubicle leaked and worst of all there was black gunge with "hairs" around the bottom of the sink pedestal. This was a "mews" room i.e. one that was in a small block away from the main building so perhaps these are less well looked after. If you get offered one of these check it out before hand.
Nice location although I arrived late at night the view from the breakfast room was very pleasant. Nice warm room and comfortable bed.
The friendly receptionist and the view from the restaurant window. The breakfast was mediocre and not worth what we paid.
The floorboards were a nightmare they creaked every time you put your foot down and you could hear the people walking about. The windows weren't double glazed so you got all the traffic noise. The heating made a lot of noise when it came on at 6.a.m. all in all not a quiet night.
We were supposedly the only guests staying in the hotel that night, so why were we put in a room (228) directly underneath other guests (or staff) who kept us awake until 4.30am with their chatting, giggling and marching up and down the room. We were too tired to have a confrontation but just as we were dropping off a member of staff started shovelling coal just outside our room at about 2 am. The whole experience was a nightmare and we're very pleased we shall never be in that area again!!! Would only recommend you to an insomniac!
Very polite and helpful staff made you feel welcome.. Very nice food
Only issue was the shower didn't work properly
The Food was good Rooms clean and comfy The breakfast is good.
Location, was good, staff very friendly and fantastic breakfast.
Could not turn the heating down in the room. Like a cool room but God boiled alive for 3 nights, even with the window open in December.
Set on the river with a lovely walk for the dog. Breakfast superb, staff very friendly and helpful.
A bit of traffic noise, drain smell in the bathroom.
attractive location beside a river great for an early morning run
Open fires created a good atmosphere. Disabled people were not adequately catered for.
Hand cut chips were not good. Pre cooked or overlooked! I am not sure which.
Clean comfortable, dog allowed in bar
Food a bit overpriced
