This good-value lodge has easy access by bus to Darlington town centre, 2 miles (3.2 km) away. Junction 59 of the A1(M) is also 2 miles away. The 4-star lodge also has free parking and en suite rooms....

In scenic Croxdale, the Honest Lawyer Hotel is just a 5 minute drive from Durham center. With a restaurant and terrace, the hotel offers modern, motel-style rooms with free parking outside your room.
Score from 940 reviews Very good
The ivy-covered Scotch Corner Hotel is ideally located at the A1/A66 junction in close proximity to Darlington and Catterick. Newcastle, York, Leeds and Middlesbrough are just a short drive away.
Score from 418 reviews Excellent
Originally built in 1835, The Croft is in the historic village of Croft On Tees, overlooking the River Tees. It has a health center, a bar/lounge and a restaurant.
Score from 311 reviews Very good
Original room not serviced at all since previous guests. Second room no better - Room cleanliness poor. Windows not very good so outside noise was loud. Broken lights. Lamps with bulbs missing. Shower head broken. Shower door broken. Sink blocked. They did not charge me for my stay which I was happy about as the stay was a big disappointment. Also no night porter as he was on holiday and no replacement was made despite in room info book stating to contact for issues. The other point of contact was to Dial from your room? No phone in the room!!
The horrendous noise that came from outside of our room ALL NIGHT LONG. It was a fan or generator of some sort that continuously rebooted throughout the night, keeping us awake. Reception staff during check out were very ignorant, they asked how our stay was, I explained about the noise and there response was 'oh ill have to look and see what that could be'. After contacting the manager via email, I got a vague response suggesting that next time I should have a room close to the river.... No as we wont be returning due to the lack of professionalism. Disappointed. I will stick to budget hotels in future as the service is a lot better.
Very clean and cosy
Room wasn't clean
Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly and room comfortable.
Shower was a bit grubby round the bottom. Pillowcases not provided for spare pillows.
staff, food, room and location
This hotel offers amazing value for money. I've stayed in hotels 5 times the price of The George which haven't been half as good. Great room, parked outside, fab garden and super quick wifi.
I could quibble about a few minor things but that wouldn't be fair for a nightly rate of £39! My only recommendation to the hotel would be to consider some vegitarian dishes for the menu, currently non existent.
Nice position by the river.
Surly male receptionist - when he finally appeared from kitchen. On guiding us to our rooms he failed to even hold doors open despite us struggling with luggage.
Rooms very comfortable Staff courteous, friendly and efficient Bar / bar meals Overall a very pleasant stay
One of our choices for evening meal wasn't as good as it could be but the other was excellent
Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Otherwise nothing outstanding.
Bed was hard. Toilet not attached to wall and moved noisily when used. Shower attachment not properly fixed to the wall. Breakfast room was cold. Bathroom extraction fan noisy. Was not advised that the roads around were mostly closed due to roadworks making it difficult to get to. Hotel a little dated and tired.
We always stay at the George when needing to be near Darlington as it is excellently situated for the A1(M), the A66 or the roads to the countryside. It is a reliable old coaching inn in a unique and picturesque spot.
Excellent location, special memories, loved it!
No easy access to an electric socket for hair dryer in our room. Had to crawl under the dressing table to get a to plug near the mirror.
Warm room Ok decor Beautiful location Great food
Uncomfy bed Dusty bathroom Useless ironing board
Good value. Wonderful riverside location
No water and glasses in bedrooms
Everything....nothing not to like!
Nice staff, pleasant hotel with good ambience. Clean bedroom with comfy beds
Food good but could have been hotter.
A pleasant hotel with excellent facilities. Unfortunately roadworks give us a long detour not the hotel s fault. Maybe should advise client to approach from the south.
Room across courtyard. If it had been raining we might have got wet. Possible need for umbrellas to ne made available.
Staff, fires, room, food, price secure parking.
Excellent size room and friendly staff.excellent value for money.
We ate in the restaurant and were very disappointed with the portion size,4 pieces of chicken for the fajitas and a dozen chips and a table spoon of mushy peas with the fish.Nothing wrong with the taste of the food just not enough !!
staff excellent, a quality hotel well recommended
excellent location for my two day business trip. enjoyed an excellent breakfast to start my day off. will stay again when in area
The Hotel has a nice location. The toiletries were nice.
There was no hot water from the shower on the upper floor. The bed was very uncomfortable and sagged in the middle.
The only thing I would suggest is to take a look at the shower doors!
Very good hotel set on the banks of a river. Good food, friendly and helpful staff.
It was in a beautiful setting on the river tees. We had a lovely evening meal.
Room was supposed to be open by 2pm but when we arrived at 4pm was not ready.
