The room was large enough and so was the big bathroom. Opening windows was a bonus as we like our fresh air.
The bed was not the most comfortable as it sloped gently downwards and for me was a bit hard. The shower pressure was not as good as I would have like but was adequate.
Friendly staff. lovely food. Comfortable bed
Room 220 Unable to flush the toilet (had to use a bucket to flush it) this had apparently been reported several times before. But the repair staff never repaired it fullying.our bill was adjusted acordingly ( it probably cost the hotel more to adjust our bill than get it fixed properly) also the bar prices are high as you are a captive audience when you are there for a wedding.
Old world character and a pleasant location. Good breakfast and the day staff were attentive.
The room was reasonably clean but attention to detail was lacking. There appeared to be a lack of teaspoons both in the room and at breakfast. Rang reception at night for a teaspoon to stir tea and had to give up after 5 minutes as no response, this could have been an emergency call. Evening staff need to be call at all times.
The position Breakfast was ok Lovely view of the river
The rooms need a refurb especially the bathrooms. They allow dogs- one whined all night in a room nearby. The keys are on metal key rings which rattle and disturb you when anyone returns to their room.
Location is really nice. The food was good.
The standard of our room was poor. The beds were new and comfortable but the decor and the bathroom were very tired.
food and prices who would put beef gravy on a chicken and bacon pie shower did not work and selection of food pathetic bad continental breakfast
location gardens very clean friendly, helpful staff
menu not very imaginative
Location & views
The staff were really accommodating and friendly. The grounds were immaculate. The food was outstanding. Everything was superb
Very good room and comfy bed.Good food .
Treated poorly by the waiter and waitress.
Staff Service Food View of the river
Bathroom needs some tlc Jangly keys kept me awake also a dog whining from another room My bill was wrong but this was rectified
relaxed atmosphere. friendly staff
little,or no signal for mobiles
The river, the peacefulness. An ideal setting for a wedding/reception.And plenty of acc for guests.
The service of the wedding reception food. There seemed no order of the staff completeing one table, before starting on another table. Needs a senior overlooking and training the staff.
We liked the staff who were helpfull and pleasent. The cottage bedroom was clean, tidy and comfortable with adequate tea and coffee making stuff. Enough outside seating place to have your meal or drink.
The main hotel was a bit drab. The walls and ceilings were sad and needed something to make them smile and welcome you like the staff did.
This was perfect location for headlam hall!! Comfortable, clean and food looked lovely and although we never had time to eat there, it was very busy so assume tasted good too
Floor was wet near the dressing table form some reason?!? And had not dried even before we left the next day. And taxi to headlam and back -£40.00 yet only 3 miles away (due to taxi having to travel from another town) staff didnt tell us this when they booked it which left us a bit short when at wedding
Situated in picturesque country village.
Tired run down hotel. Was great in it,s heyday but how things have changed. Room smelt of pain -room and lobby painted couple weeks earlier. You would have thought they would have used odourless paint but seems they opted for the cheap stuff! The wallpaper is pealing off the walls. The shower did not dispense cold water however the bath tap did which was scalding hot and it burned my foot. Had to settle for a cold shower. Breakfast just average. Hotel claims 3 stars but realistically I would give no more than 2 for the room price. I would never return.
lovely place in beautiful setting had a very good day as well as comfortable stay would recommend to anyone
The road leaving the village
Food was awaful and over prcied
Nice place, nice people
I loved the location, the gardens down by the Riverbank were fantastic, as well as the Patio at the back of the bar that overlooked all this, made for a tremendous summer evening
Nothing really - if I was being ultra picky the Shower could have been better, wasn't easy to alternate between hot & cold.
Noisy rooms when guests in room above. Poor bathroom facilities and dirty shower area Ran out of tea and milk in the room and not replenished Hot room The iron in the wardrobe was so poor it left black marks on your clothes from a very dirty iron plate.
Spacious, clean room. Ideal setting.
Not many staff around to help. Could have done with more pillows.
Fantastic rooms, great food and good beer
Wifi is pointless, strong signal but can't use it for anything and there is no phone signal or mobile data
Excellent food & drink Staff friendly & approachable Rooms very clean V.pleasant outlook over the Tees
Bar area quite dark and a bit gloomy
Great sized room, only one easy flight of stairs to navigate. Plenty of parking, easy to access. Super value for money, we only stayed one night on our way around the UK but would have been quite happy to stay longer. Beds clean and comfy, tv worked well. Plenty of hot water, shower had great pressure.
Slight paint smell in corridor but that was no problem
